Emily’s eyes widened at the divorce papers, and she stumbled back before rushing to me.“Honey,I’m begging you, don’t do this.I won’t divorce you.I won’t sign!”
Seeing my silence, she clutched her hair, frantic.“Give me a reason! Why the sudden divorce?”
“Because I hired Liam as a secretary?Or because I gave him a lighter?”
“Honey,we’ve been married five years.I’ve given you countless gifts—how could you divorce me over one lighter?”
Her questions made me sick.If I hadn’t caught her with Liam,I might’ve softened and blamed myself.
But now,I had more than just suspicions.
I stared into her eyes, asking,“The night I kicked Liam and his mom out,you said you had a company meeting. Were you really at a meeting?”
She didn’t expect that, her eyes darting away, clearly guilty.“Y-Yes…you know the company often has emergencies late at night. It’s not the first time.”
I sneered, cutting her off.“Is it?I’ll call the shareholders now and ask what emergency required you to leave at midnight.”
As I reached for my phone, her face paled, and she knocked it from my hand.“Are you crazy?!It’s the middle of the night—why disturb them? You don’t understand work stuff!”
I hadn’t gone straight home from the hospital.I’d called the shareholders from my car,and they all confirmed there was no emergency meeting that night.
Liam’s social media post from that evening was telling:[No matter how far I run, someone always catches up.]
Whether it was intentional or just plain stupid, he had tagged a location near my hillside villa.
So I had the villa’s manager send me the security footage from that night, and sure enough,Emily was sneaking Liam inside.
Realizing she’d overreacted,Emily picked up my phone, softening her tone.“I’m sorry, honey,I didn’t mean to say those things. I’m just so tired. Don’t be mad at me, okay? Let me just rest.”
I grabbed the divorce papers, my voice cold.“You have three days to think. If you don’t agree,we’ll see you in court.”
With that,I walked to the bedroom, locked the door, and started packing.
Emily said that she had bought this house before we got married, as a way to thank me for helping her start her company. She didn’t want people to think that I was the only one contributing to our relationship.
Back then,Emily was just a regular medical saleswoman with little savings,so I was touched, thinking I’d found a good woman.
Maybe that’s why people thought I was a kept man.
But after marriage,I learned she’d taken out a multimillion-dollar loan to buy it for show.Still,I willingly helped her pay it off.
In just five years, she’d become a CEO with my support, yet dared to cheat under my nose—ridiculous.
Let her keep the house and the debt.I’m done being the fool.
I packed, tossing our wedding ring and photos into the trash.
Seeing me with luggage,Emily panicked.“Honey!I already told Liam not to come to the office!Don’t leave me!”
I placed the canceled embryo transfer form on the table.“Too late.”
