CHAPTER 206
AMELIA’S P.O.V
I didn’t let Kaden sleep in our room. It killed me to do it, I couldn’t even fall asleep but I forced myself to stick to my decision. I had to stand on business and stick to my decisions.
By morning, I was exhausted and a tad bit frustrated. I stepped out of the room to get myself a drink of water but I was in for a surprise when I opened the door because to my shock, there Kaden lay. He sat on the floor in front of the door, his knees up to his chest.
He didn’t look he had slept a wink and as soon as he saw me, he stilled. He opened his mouth to speak but no words would come out. After what felt like a long minute, he turned away from me, his cheeks tinged pink.
“Did you sleep here?” I asked and he shrugged.
“I didn’t do a lot of sleeping.”
“You sat out here all night, why?”
“Because, I couldn’t be away from you. You said you were dependent on me to sleep but the truth is that I am too. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep without you, I didn’t see a reason pretending.”
My heart clenched. I wanted to forgive him, wanted to act like nothing happened and hold my mate but I couldn’t. I swallowed a knot down my throat and shoved my hands into the pockets of my pajamas.
“I want breakfast, do you?” I asked.
His eyes fell but he said nothing and gave me a small smile. He pulled himself to his feet and walked behind me as I made my way down to the kitchen. I could feel his eyes on me the entire time, could feel the want and the longing as he stared at me but to his credit, he managed to keep his hands to himself.
“What do you want to eat for breakfast?” he asked as soon as he stepped into the kitchen. “I can make muffins or pancakes or-”
“Kaden,” I cut him off and he turned to me. he looked panicked. “You don’t have to be awkward with me. I’m not leaving you.”
“I know that but-”
“No, you don’t, I am not leaving, not now at least. But if you pull some shit like that again-”
“I won’t,” he assured me. “I swear I will not.”
“I hope not. I haven’t forgiven you yet. What you did was absolute bullshit and it was a really low blow. You have a lot to make up for.”
He sighed. “I know, baby, I do.”
“You can start by making me breakfast.”
He made the best fucking pancakes I had ever eaten in my entire life and if I wasn’t truly upset with him, I would have forgiven him instantly.
After I returned from the shower, I didn’t find Kaden and a part of me thought he had left without saying goodbye. I wasn’t sure why I even thought that considering he was trying his hardest to make me forgive him.
I was on my way back to the room when I heard his voice. I followed it to his office and overheard him talking to someone on the phone.
“I’m staying home,” he said to whoever. “You can send me the files. I need to be with her right now.”
Even though I pretended like it didn’t bother me, it did. I felt my cheeks heat and my heart warm.
“I know you’re watching me,” he said, not even turning to look at me. “You forget that I know you, Amelia.”
I didn’t even bother hiding or pretending. “We need to talk, and no, it isn’t about what happened last night.”
At this point, he turned to me, his brows furrowed in confusion as he watched me. I walked into his office and took the seat in front of his desk. I could tell that worried him a little, I didn’t do this on a good day. Most times I started talking as soon as I walked into his office.
“Is everything okay?”
“I want you to find a witch to break the bond.”
“Amelia-”
“This is my decision.”
“But our bond could be affected. It could ruin what we have and who we are.”
“If you truly believe that you love me, then it has nothing to do with our bond.”
That clearly didn’t register with him because he stepped closer to me and grabbed my shoulders. “You’re upset, I get that, but don’t make a decision because you’re angry and hormonal.”
“Don’t call me hormonal,” I snapped and he went silent. “I want this and if you love me, you would support this. You aren’t the one who has two mate bonds. I want to do this.”
He sighed deeply, clearly not pleased or happy with my choice but he nodded. “Okay, I’ll find a witch because that is what you want but do not expect me to pretend to be alright with the fact that you want to break our bond.”
“I don’t want to break our bond,” I tried to explain but he wasn’t listening.
“That is exactly what you are doing.”
“I am trying to get rid of Blake!” I exclaimed. “You will have to live knowing that you are sharing a part of me with Blake-”
“I don’t care. I will take the risk of that over the risk of losing you. I will take half of you over none of you.”
“You don’t mean that.”
“I do, you cannot tell me what I feel and what I don’t.”
I shook my head. It couldn’t be possible. He was an Alpha and Alpha’s didn’t share. It was not in their nature. I tried to convince myself that he was just saying it to make me feel better and yet, my wolf told me that he was saying the truth.
He dropped to his knees in front of me and took both my hands in his. “The idea of a life with you is better than nothing at all, Amelia.”
