AMELIA’S P.O.V
Ian was a nice companion to drive home with. He was funny and his music taste was impeccable. He had the stereo on the entire time and was singing at the top of his lungs, I couldn’t stay frowning for long. By the time we got back to Kaden’s place, I couldn’t help but realize just how lonely and starved for human attention that I was.
“Thank you for the ride,” I told him as I hesitated to get out. “It means a lot to me, you have no idea.”
“It’s not a problem,” he waved me off. “If you ever need one then don’t hesitate to call. You know where to find me.”
I got out of the car and waved him off. He had just disappeared down the driveway when I noticed another car driving towards me. I froze and blinked twice wondering if maybe I was seeing things but I knew I wasn’t. it was Kaden’s car with him in the front seat. I rubbed at my eyes and even went as far as to pinch myself because I wasn’t expecting him. I forced the hope back down in my chest because I didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
There was no way of knowing whether he was here to stay or if he was just coming to pick up something. He stopped the car directly in front of me and when he stepped out, I noticed a bouquet of pink flowers in his hands. Despite the butterflies in my belly, I kept my expression perfectly neutral.
“Who was that?” he asked and I raised a brow in his direction. “I wasn’t able to get a clear glimpse of the man in the driver seat. What was he doing here?”
“Don’t you think it is a bit hypocritical to ask me that?”
“A stranger was seen leaving our house just as I was driving in. What do you expect me to say, Amelia? I am not accusing you of anything, I just want to know who he is.”
“I think I preferred you when you were sitting by her bedside, at least you weren’t insinuating that I was cheating on you,” I turned on my heels because I was done with the conversation. All we ever seemed to do was fight and I was tired of it. if we couldn’t have a normal conversation then I didn’t want to speak to him at all.
“Wait,” he reached out for me and dragged me to a stop. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come across that way. I am just one edge, okay? I didn’t come here to fight, I just wanted to apologize and give these to you.”
I glanced down at the flowers in his hands. They were beautiful and I could already imagine how pretty they would look on the dining table yet I hesitated before taking them.
“Giving me flowers doesn’t fix anything, I hope you know that,” I stated plainly and he nodded. “But it is a very good start.” I took it from him and inhaled deeply. “Do you want to come in or are you leaving immediately?”
“I’m going to stay for a while. I missed you and I missed us. I’m sorry that I was away for so long and it took me this long to realize.”
“You’re here now and that is what matters I guess,” I gave him a small smile. “Come on, I was just about to get breakfast.”
I didn’t realize how much I had missed Kaden’s presence until he was in the house with me. He made breakfast while I sat on the counter and watched and it was quite literally the most beautiful sight I had ever been privy to. After we had finished cooking, we sat in front of the TV with a movie playing but most of our attention was on each other. I was curled up by his side while I ate the sandwiches he made and he just played with strands of my hair.
It was so quiet and intimate and unlike anything I had experienced in a while. I didn’t want the moment to end. I wanted to bottle it up and keep it hidden far away from everyone and anything that could possibly ruin it. Kaden placed a soft kiss in the center of my head that had me smiling like a school girl again.
“I missed you,” I mumbled under my breath. I didn’t think he heard me until I heard him speak.
“Not as much as I missed you,” he pulled me into his lap so that I was straddling him. “I missed this. I missed holding you, I missed being able to touch you like this. I missed just having you in my arms.”
I sighed and placed my head into the crook of his neck. He wrapped his arms around me and ghosted his fingers up and down my spine in a way that was both comforting and erotic at the same time.
“I wish you didn’t have to spend so much time at the hospital. Can’t you just leave her there until she wakes up?”
“I don’t trust anyone else to keep an eye on her. My mother is adamant that she wants her gone and I don’t trust that she will not do something to ensure that happens. I need to be there with her.”
“What about me?” I asked and he stilled. “Who is going to be here with me?”
“Amelia,” he began slowly but he didn’t say anything else and that was when I knew my answer. I pulled back from him and tried to blink away the tears. “Please, don’t cry. This isn’t what you think it is.”
“I don’t think anything. I’m a little tired. I want to take a nap. You can come too if you want or you could return to the hospital to make sure that she is well looked after.”
I walked away without another word and what hurt the most was that he didn’t make any more to come after me. I waited at the top of the steps hoping and praying he would follow. I watched him run his hands down his face, I watched him pace and curse and then I watched him walk out of the house. I rushed to the window hoping that he was just letting off some steam and he was going to come back in but he walked into his car and drove off leaving me t the silence again.
My heart ached like someone had taken a knife to it. I had never felt pain like this before. I managed to drag my feet back to my room and sat on the bed in defeat. With everything that had happened, there was only one explanation. It was impossible that Kaden would pick her over me unless there was something else. It would also explain why his mother was against her so much.
I took out my phone and texted Caleb for Kaden’s mother’s number. He was a bit shocked at first but he agreed to send it to me. I quickly dialed her before I could chicken out of it.
“Marjorie speaking, who is this?” she asked.
“I know who Nadine is. She is Kaden’s first mate, isn’t she?”
BLAKE’S P.O.V
Samantha stood in front of me in her short red dress and matching blood red lips. The neckline was cut so low that you could see the top of her nipples and the dress was so short that if she were to bend over, you would see her ass. Her hair was in a mess around her shoulders and for once, she had it down so it reached her lower back. Once she saw me, the corner of her lips tipped up into a smile.
“You can all leave now,” she said aloud to the maids in the room and they wasted no time in walking out.
Samantha might be a normal wolf but she had more power than the rest. It wasn’t everyone who got the privilege of being Gregory’s mistress. Gregory was an asshole but he was powerful and that made Samantha powerful too because it was her job to keep him happy and there was very little he didn’t give to her.
She waited until everyone had left before she spoke. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Blake? Would you like a drink?”
She waved her hands over to the bottle of wine in the corner and I decided to oblige her. I poured a drink for myself. Her eyes tracked my every movement as I made my way over to her. I took a sip then angled her head back and kissed her. I allowed the drink slide into her mouth and down her chin then made a show of licking it off her.
By the time I pulled back, she was smiling widely. “I knew there was a reason I missed you. It has been so long. You promised that you were going to fuck me better when next we met.”
“I intend to keep that promise on a day when Gregory isn’t in the house,” I told her and she pouted as she took the glass from me and placed it on the table behind her. She palmed my dick through my pants and I gritted my teeth.
“Just because he’s here doesn’t mean we cannot have some fun. I didn’t wear any underwear today, we can make it very quick, just like we always do.”
“That sounds very inviting,” I ground out, “but I didn’t come here for a quick fuck. I need help with something and you are the only one who can do it for me.”
She instantly straightened. “What do you need?’
“You are the only one who can get close enough to Gregory without suspicion. I need you to give him something for me.”
“No,” she said immediately and took a step back. “I am not going to kill him. if I do that, everyone will know it is me. I will be dead before I can even step out of the room. You have power, Blake, but not enough to stop me from dying.”
She tried to walk past me but I pinned her to the wall and caressed her cheek softly. She tried to remain strong but within seconds, she was leaning into my touch. I placed a soft kiss on her neck while trailing my hands down her body until they got to the hemline of her dress. Sure enough, she wasn’t wearing panties and she was already dripping wet.
“You won’t kill him,” I whispered. “You just have to give him something every day. It will make him weaker. He won’t even notice until the worst is here.”
“Are you sure? I- oh” she asked and her words dissolved into a moan. “That feels good.”
“I know it does,” I stopped all movements and she whined. “Do this for me, Samantha, I need you.”
“You do, don’t you?” she asked and I nodded. “Fine, give it to me but first, you have to make me cum.”
“Whatever you want.”
