AMELIA’S P.O.V

As I watchedLucy being dragged out with hatred and anger in her eyes, I couldn’t help but feel bad for her. I would have been angry too if the man I thought I was going to be with had thrown me out of his office like nothing. I knew that Kadenhad told her repeatedly that he wanted nothing to do with her but I still couldn’t help but feel a pang of hurt for her. It was embarrassing.


“This is why I didn’t want you outside,” Kaden muttered as he gently grabbed my upper arm and led me back into the office.

I turned to him in confusion wondering what he was talking about but he didn’t say a word until we were safely behind the doors of his office. I could see that he was a little annoyed and I knew that a part of it was directed at me.

“Did I do something?” I asked hesitantly as I took a slow step back. Whenever father was upset with me, he tended to explode and although I trusted Kaden, my instincts couldn’t be ignored and they screamed at me to get away whenever a powerful man lost his temper.


“Ofcourse I am pissed, she threw a fucking tantrum like a child, and you,” he turned on me and inhaled sharply as if trying to calm himself down. I took another hesitant step backwards and his eyes tracked my movement. “Are you scared of me?”

I shook my head. I was scared of the situation but not of him. Kaden exhaled a few times and rolled his shoulders until they held a semblance of calmness. Once he had straightened, he reached out for me and I took his hand with no hesitation. He pulled me into him so that the heat from his body was searing into mine.


“I am not upset with you,” the words sounded strained and I didn’t believe him. It must have been obvious because he repeated the words. “I was upset because it was obvious that you felt pity for Lucy. Your kind heart is one of your best features but Amelia, baby, it willget you into a lot of trouble.”

“Did she really deserve to be thrown out like that?She just wanted to talk to you,” I asked and he levelled me a hard look.

“She was throwing a tantrum and disrupting the flow of the day. I also couldn’t trust that she was not going to do anything to you. Lucy’s father is a powerful man and although she acts like a spoiled princess, she is more than capable of holding her own. I was not willing to risk your safety over a conversation that I did not even want to have.”

I was shocked by how easy he said the words. It was like it wasn’t even a discussion for him. Kaden had chosen a side and it was mine. He had done it over and over again but it still felt weird to have someone repeatedly choose me when all my life, I was pushed aside for others. It made me tear up a little and Kaden cursed.

He pulled me closer and peppered my face with kisses while muttering an apology. I couldn’t tell him that I wasn’t crying because I was upset. The tears flowed freely and he wiped them away without hesitation. Once I had managed to get a grip on myself, he kissed my lips softly.

“I’m sorry,” I mumbled trying to force a smile on my face as I explained why I cried.

“I will always choose you,” he promised and he kissed me.

It was obvious that he meant for the kiss to be soft but I deepened it. There were so manythings that I could not say and I showed it all to him through the kiss. I wanted him to feel how grateful I was for him. I wanted him to feel the emotions thatwere raging inside of me- emotions that I had never felt before. The storm on my inside scared me because I knew that it had the power to overwhelm me.

Kaden released a groan as his hands trailed down from my waist to my ass so he could grip it and pull me flush against his skin. “I know baby,” he murmured. “I can feel it all.”

He pulled back giving me the opportunity to stop everything but I didn’t take it, instead, I rose on my tippy toes and wrapped my arms around his neck. He took it as the invitation that it was and picked me up by the back of my thighs. His lips claimed mine and he kissed me like a starved beast. I didn’t even know he had walked us over to the table until he placed me on it and settled between my legs. I could feel him hard between my thighs and I couldn’t stop myself from dragging my hips over him.

Kaden reached out so he could pin my hips in place. “Fuck, baby, don’t do that, please. We are in my office, I can’t.”

I pulled back in confusion with scrunched brows. Kaden’s eyes were shut as if he were in pain and I knew the problem wasn’t that he didn’t want to fuck me, it was that he was not letting himself. I didn’t understand why and I frowned.

Kaden must have noticed the shift in my mood because he cursed and grabbed my chin. “I want you,” he pushed his hips into mine and my eyes rolled into the back of my head as he grazed my core. “When I fuck you, I love to hear you scream and you can’t do that here. That is why I asked you to stop.”

My cheeksheated both from his words and from how stupid I felt for thinking that it could have been anything else. He leaned down to kiss me once more but he pulled back before it was heated.

“Maybe we should stop before things get worse,” he murmured and I couldn’t help but nod.Instead of releasing me however, Kaden kept kissing down my neck. “Give me a few seconds, you taste too good.”

I wanted to say something but all thought flew out of my head the moment he sucked on my neck. “Kaden.”

“Five more seconds,” his voice was muffled as he cursed. “I can’t get enough of you. Whenever I see you, all thought flies out of my head. Tell me what to do.”

“I could come over later,” I offered and the corner of his mouth kicked up in a small smile. He finally pulled away from me and the heat in his eyes threatened to knock me off my feet.

“I would love that but you have class tomorrow and tonight will not be enough for all the things I want to do to you,” he ran his eyes down my body as he spoke. “Move in with me, Amelia.”

It felt like ice cold water was dumped on me and my eyes widened in shock and anxiety. I was not expecting the questionand it had completely thrown me off guard. Kaden must have realized what his question did because he began to apologize but I paid no attention to him.I wanted nothing more than to move in with him but I feared that he would get bored of me.

I looked up at him and when I saw the guilt on his face, I knew I had to say something. “CanI think about it?”

He immediately nodded. “There is no rush. We have all the time in the world. I don’t want to pressure you.”

“You aren’t,” I cut him off. “I just need some time. In the meantime, can I stillcome over?”

He breathed a sigh of relief. “Of course.”

AIDEN’S P.O.V

I always got Kaden’s sloppy seconds. He was the Alpha and I was his cousin. I was the spare that was kept in case something happened to him. As I looked down at Lucy’s naked sleeping form, I realized just how true it was. He got the throne and I got to be the side, he got the girl and when he was bored of her, he threw her away and of course, she landed in my bed.

I didn’t regret fucking Lucy- she was a wildcat in bed. She had soft skin and she was so responsive. I would have enjoyed it more if I didn’t know that she was pretending I was Kaden the entire time. I never knew what people saw in him.Maybe it was because we grew up together and I had the privilege of seeing him grow.He wasn’t impressive to me, he was justKaden.

“Kaden,” Lucy moaned into the pillow and just his name infuriated me. If it were another day, I would have fucked her awake and reminded her that I was Aiden but I had more important things to do.

I pulled on a pair of sweats and made my way to the blacony so she wouldn’t sleep. She was passed out from the alcohol she consumed but there was no telling if my voice was going to wake her or not.

When I saw her at the bar, I knew something was wrong but despite my pushing, she wasn’t interested in telling me. When I slipped the bartender some money to make her drinks even stronger, it wasn’t with the intentions of fucking her inmy room but that proved to be a good addition, it was with the intention of getting information and I was not disappointed by what I heard.

I lit a cigarette and watched as the smoke disappeared into the cold air. My phone was lying on the table and I dialed a number.I never saved the contact because I didn’t want anyone to know that we were in communication. I had always been good with numbers so it was easy for me to memorize.

“What do you want?” his voice was low as if he were whispering. “I thought we agreed never to do unsolicited calls. I could be caught.”

“Hello to you too.”

“Most people spend their nights with whores. If it is hard for you to secure some on your own then I can help you.”

I laughed as I expelled smoke from my blunt. “I have a perfectly pretty whore in bed, don’t worry about that.”

“What do you want, Aiden?”

“I have news that you might be interested in.”

That caught his attention because he went quiet. “It better be worth the time that you’re waking me up. This is after midnight.”

“Itis more than worth your time,” I paused for dramatic effect. “Our perfect little couple is getting closer as we speak. Time is of the essence now because little Amelia is going to be Luna soon.”
