'What?!" I exclaimed, the feeling of disappointment vanishing.

'What do mean stronger?" asked Liam.

'In the past, I could barely sense her wolf. Her presence was like a dying echo but now, it's more like a strong shadow. Does that make sense?"


'Oh my gosh." I got up and paced in front of them. 'Do you think it's because I used my powers?"

'Maybe. What if it's because you were in constant danger and your wolf was trying to get closer to you in order to protect you?" Liam asked.


'That's also a disturbing probability. Tomorrow we'll ask Damien if Antonio took the artefact, if not I'll have to search the area where we fought." Xander replied.

'I can start practicing my powers-"

'No!!" They chorused, cutting me off.

'Why not?" I asked, folding my arms under my breast and glaring at them.

'Lelia, you need to recover and let your body rest. If you strain yourself too much, you may cause permanent damage to your body." Xander said, getting up to stand in front of me.

I know he's right but we don't have the time. Antonio was still out there.

'But-"

'The pack is warded, Antonio can't find us for now and you getting hurt isn't going to help anyone."

I looked down.

'But I want to help." I said in a small voice.

'Right now, you can help us by getting better. When you get better, your training and practice will be more intense and effective okay?"

'Okay."

Liam got up, 'It's getting late and you need to rest sis."

I totally forgot.

'Are you going back to Lucian's pack? Can't you stay? I'm here and I promise that Xander will treat you better."

Liam chuckled, 'I didn't say I was leaving. I have a house here in the pack, Xander gifted it to me. I'm going to sleep."

'Oh…" I blushed in embarrassment, '...then good night."

Xander moved allowing Liam to hug me.

'Good night sis. I'll see you in the morning."

Xander nodded at him and he left.

Leaving me alone with Xander.

'Go take a shower first, let me lock up." He said and I quietly nodded, my nerves all over the place.

The bead of water trailed down his torso getting dangerously close to the towel on his waist.

'I don't advice sleeping in that position." he said drying his hair with another towel.

Red faced, I shifted back in the bed, dragging my eyes away from his body to his face.

The smirk on Xander's face was telling.

'There's only one bed in this house. We'll have to share. Pick a side."

He walked into the bathroom and returned wearing only a black short.

I patted the duvet under me 'I'm good with this side."

'I sleep with only shorts, that's not a problem right?"

He switched off the light once I nodded.

Xander layed beside me, dragging me into his warm embrace.

'Do I scare you?" shivers ran through my body as his hot breath washed over my ear.

'No." I whispered

'Then were you planning to sleep seating?"

'I'm nervous. I don't know why you're being this kind."

His arm tightened around me.

'I'm a cuddler and I thought I was kind to you? Did I not treat you well in the pack? I always thought I did."

The warmth of his embrace was comforting and addicting. It made me feel like all the problems waiting for us were nothing but nightmares.

'No…no…you treated me better than anyone…" the darkness prevented him from seeing how red I was.

I ignored the fact that he is an Alpha and his night vision was more enhanced than other werewolves.

'... you're just kinder?"

'You don't like it?"

'...I do. I've been used a lot recently…it made me very wary of any form of kindness. It's annoying and disturbing because I want people to be kind to me, I at least deserve that much from people I've been kind to…but now, I just find myself wary when a kind hand is lent."

Xander was silent.

Did he…fall asleep or…

I held back a whimper as he released my waist, freeing me from his warmth.

Should I roll away?

'You don't need to worry about that concerning me."

Claiming my waist again, he stretched and grabbedy my right hand, intertwining our fingers and resting it on my stomach.

'I do need something from you."

My body tensed as the feeling of betrayal spread through my heart.

'But…"

'I need you to recover. To go back to how your body was before the kidnapping or more. I need you to heal mentally and physically. Can you do that for me Lelia?"

'I can" I replied, relaxing with a small smile on my face into his body.

'Sleep, you need it."

'...can talk for a while? I don't feel sleepy."

'I guess that's to be expected since you slept for a while."

'Do you regret searching for me?"

'Why would I? You're a member of my pack."

The small voice in my head that wished to be more than that was ignored.

'I know that but if you hadn't left the pack to search for me, Antonio won't have been able to take over the pack. The pack didn't treat me well but I didn't wish them dead."

His thumb stroked mine comfortingly. I should be the one comforting him.

'The pack is weaker without it's Alpha but the way they lost tells me that it was not only an ambush but there were traitors among the pack members and I'll loose another pack to get you back."

I blushed, a big smile formed on my face.

'I met someone."

'Yeah?"

'He claimed he was my mate…" he tensed up behind me. '... because of my wolf, I couldn't tell if he was lying or not. I just felt uncomfortable in his presence and he had mistress that he treated better."

'Did he sleep with you?"

'What?...No!!"

He squeezed me a little as he relaxed and placed a light kiss on my hair.

'Time to sleep Lelia."

'Okay."

I buried the questions about his strange behavior.

'Good night Xander."

'Night Lelia."
