I was shocked to see a carbon copy of Lelia but male. Carlson did not have any son, I was suspicious, thinking he was an imposter, an ally of Antonio's at the event so l was mindful and yes remember, l always knew Leila was my mate since her 18th birthday.

Hala calmed me down, 'He has the blessing of the goddess."



His calm nature and wise gaze told me there was a whole lot to him than being my mates twin. I could see myself becoming good friends with him and yes we had a little time to talk.

'Where's Damien?" I thought l asked to let him in. He wasn't in the house and I didn't trust him.


'He's outside. Liam wanted saying something but I asked him to wait so we'll hear what he has to say at once."

I took another gulp of the drink, 'Do you trust him?"


'Trust is a strong word, I don't want to kill him."

I nodded, 'Let him in then."

He took his drink back and finished it.

'Alright."

Liam left and returned with Damien.

I clenched my fist, keeping the desire to kill him in the spot.

The last time I saw him, he was killing my men. His former pack members. His family. Without any remorse. I was grateful he brought Leila to me but that doesn't give him absolution from his crimes.

Although, I was curious. Why did someone so cowardly do all that he did? What was his motive?

Damien sat opposite me, hunching and hanging his head.

'Look at me, you can't possibly hang your head now after killing your family."

He flinched but raised his head. He looked defeated and the sorrow in his eyes was pitiable.

'I'm not going to beg for your forgiveness, I just need to say this out. I'm not delusional that you'll keep me around when all this is over but I think that you need to know what's going on. At least from my point of view."

I didn't say anything, Liam settled beside me and we waited for him to continue.

'I knew that Amelia was my mate once I turned eighteen but I was already engaged to Lelia and I didn't want to break it up."

'And you cheated?" I asked looking at him with raised brows, obviously not believing his lies.

'This may sound like an excuse but I was seduced and I know that I didn't handle the situation properly. Amelia didn't give any indication that she knew I was her mate, hell, she would ask her mom to allow Lelia to stay over at my place."

Hearing him talk about their time together pissed me off.

'And?"

'... it was after you punished us and asked Lelia to play the role of the Luna that Amelia finally acknowledged our bond. That's when I realized how much she hated Lelia. She told me it was her destiny to be a Luna and she'll do anything to achieve it. I found out that although the whole family treated Lelia like shit because she wasn't born from their matting, Amelia was also like that. Her father is Antonio."

'I should have known. That's why she smelt different."

'Smelt?" A confused Damien asked.

'Every unmated wolf smells like the alpha in their family. Just a little. Only Lelia smelt like Carlson but I ignored it."

'I didn't know that." said Liam.

'It's not common knowledge, it's just something you learn from observation."

'So…I thought that the process of becoming alpha will be the same as usual and agreed to help. By the time I realized how wrong what we were doing was, it was already too late. They had kidnapped my sister and kept me in line with threats of killing her."

Damien's eyes teared up. His pain written all over his face.

'Your sister is dead, isn't she?" Liam asked quietly.

'Yes. Antonio killed her when they couldn't find Alpha Xander's body after the poisonous arrows were shot at him but they believed the vultures must have devoured him because no man can survive those poisonous arrows.

Liam sighed, 'That's why you helped us. You have nothing to loose anymore."

'Antonio needs Lelia's powers. He is obsessed with it and Amelia thinks she'll be queen when she's just a pawn. By now, I'm sure they have started searching the forest and close packs. I suggest that you leave until you're ready to face him."

'Don't worry. This village was founded by a sorceress, it is heavily warded and keeps people with ill intensions out." I replied

'I know that you have paid with the loss of your sister, you can stay for now but if your presence disturbs Lelia's recovery, you'll leave immediately." I warned, frowning as I looked at him. I'll have to keep an eye on him until I can trust him.

'I understand."

Liam suddenly sat up, 'Did you do the bonding ceremony with Amelia?"
