**XANDER**
"Arghhhh." I groaned as I tried to withstand shifting back into my human form but that seemed impossible because in the next second, I was back to my wolf form. A lot of thanks should be given to the moon goddess for creating my specie the way she created it that Alpha's when they abruptly shifted to their human forms would still be in their clothing in case of unforeseen circumstances to protect our dignity, else I would have been sprawled on the ground trying my best to hide my nakedness.
By the moments that flew by, the pain kept sipping and growing with each passing seconds and it felt inside of my leg would explode.
I was an Alpha wolf so i was supposed to start healing immediately, why then was the process not happening. It wasn't even taking place at all. What exactly was that arrow that I was shot with? I tried to shift again but couldn't, like something was blocking me from connecting with my wolf and that infuriated me the more as I raised my head to slowly glare at Antonio who stood over me with a sinister smile on his face.
Sweeping the surrounding with one glance, I found that we had been defeated. All my armies were on the floor, badly injured or dead and there was nothing I as their Alpha could do.
Infact, I was the first to be defeated.
"What do you want?" I calmly said though rage was burning through my veins like they would burst me open.
"Look around you, this is exactly what I want." Spreading his hands in a gesture towards my solders that were defeated crested a new surge of anger but still there was nothing I could do, I couldn't stand and I couldn't shift so I couldn't fight. How outrageous!
"Alpha Xander, say Hi to all these souls I've killed in the afterlife for me." A female voice came from a tree top and the next moment, another arrow landed few inches away from the actual place where my heart was enclosed. Dumb luck though! Darkness was sipping in and I heard their cruel laughter as they walked away while i tried to fight to keep my eyes open.
Dead goddess! The more I tried to keep awake, the more my eyes kept dimming and closing as fast as they could, coupling with the pains that were hitting all over my body; I couldn't hold back any more. I couldn't reach out to my wolf so I was utterly powerless because I was just as weak physically as I couldn't connect with my wolf and as a dead person so I just let the darkness have it's way and consume my slowly.
The next time I woke up, was due to the chatters and chitters from some people that were gathered around me.
At first, I thought that perhaps I had passed on and was in the afterlife but if I was dead, was I supposed to still feel pain all over my body? I thought the afterlife was a place that held no pain it sickness.
"He's an Alpha, look at the mark on his arm." The words of one of the people that sat nearby to me found it's way across the gaze down to my ears.
"That's true, he looks like he was ambushed. Let's find a way to take him back to the town." I heard one of them say but my voice was too weak and too tired to produce any vocal sounds.
I tried opening my eyes for the second time after they had closed few seconds after they were open but couldn't as it felt like scales had been placed all over my eyes.
Trying to open my eyes was like trying to lift a car with just the help of a stick, Impossible right? That's exactly how I felt even when I noticed that they were trying to lift me up.
I tried my best to speak but that was also impossible for me to do and it made me angered and infuriated as it became clearer to me that I was stuck between the ring thread line of life and death. I could roll over and fall into any of the world's at any time.
"Everyone, he moved his leg. I think he's waking up." One of them stated o the others and they halted. I knew they had halted because I was placed on the ground again and though I couldn't make out how their faces looked like, I knew that they had their eyes fixated on me.
"I think it would be best for us to move farther away from him. If he was in battle before he collapsed, he might only remember the battle scene and wake up extremely violent. Been an Alpha is also a plus." The person explained and from the murmurs that I heard, I think they had bought what the person was explaining and finally, my eyes opened.
My eyes met their inquisitive gazes and I just blinked whole staring at each of them in the eye trying to read their expression.
"My Lord, we were only helping out." An old lady simply said and I only nodded my head while trying to sit up. Them seeing that sitting up was a challenge for me,all stood up and some of them came to my side and slipped my hands onto their shoulders, helping me to stand on both foot but that posture made the pain in my leg, arm and chest almost unbearable like a fire had been set ablaze inside of my body.
Instead of standing, I immediately sat back down and they all hurdled around me.
"You look familiar,Alpha." One of the little girls said and the elders amongst them tried to hush her up while a small smile curved up in each side of my lips.
"Alpha Xander of the Blackpool pack." I introduced myself straightforwardly and they all gawked at me like they had seen some kind of god.
