Jane POV
My driver didn't ask questions, no one has ever, they just obeyed
When I got there, I sat in the waiting room and my hands were cold and my heart beat fast and then the guard called my name and led me to the visiting booth.
The room was small and quiet. There was a glass wall between us and a phone on both sides.
Then Hades walked in, he looked tired and pale and his beard had grown out. His eyes were red, but when they saw me, they went soft.
He sat down and picked up the phone and I did the same.
'Jane," he says quietly. 'You came."
I nodded, but I didn't smile and didn't speak.
'I have thought about you every day since I got in here," he continued 'And I just, I need to say I'm sorry."
I stared at him.
He swallowed hard. 'I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted things to go this far. I only wanted you to see me, to choose me."
'You tricked me," I said slowly.
'Yes," he whispered. 'And I hated myself for it."
There was silence and only the soft buzzing of the lights above us.
'I didn't touch you that night without your consent," he added quickly. 'I swear. You kissed me, you held me and you let me in. But… I shouldn't have taken advantage of your pain. I should not have planned that party. I knew I crossed the line."
Tears filled my eyes, but I didn't wipe them.
I think of that night again and how confused I was. How happy I felt until the morning after.
'I thought I was healing," I said 'I thought I was finally in control."
'I know," he said 'And I ruined that. I am sorry."
We sat in silence for a moment.
'You look healthy," he said gently. 'Is the baby okay?"
'Yes."
'Do you know if it waa boy or girl?"
I shook my head. 'I haven't checked."
He smiled a little. 'Whatever it is… it's lucky to have you."
I wanted to leave, but I didn't move.
I looked into his eyes and there was no pride in them and no tricks, it was just regret, genuine l regret.
'You hurt me," I whispered.
'I know." 'And yet… I still came here."
'I know."
I placed the phone back on the hook andI stood up, my legs were weak.
He placed his hand on the glass and watched me. 'Jane…"
I walked away.
Tears rolled down my cheeks as the guard opened the door for me.
I didn't know what I felt, I was angry, But I was also tired.
And a small, terrible part of me still wanted him to fight for me, the right way.
As I stepped back into the car, I rested my hand on my belly.
'I will protect you," I whisper to my baby. 'No matter what."
But deep down, I wonder…
Can I ever truly protect myself?

Jane's POV
When I got home, I went straight to my room and sat on the edge of my bed. My head was full of thoughts.
I held my stomach with both hands and sighed, my baby moved a little. It felt like a soft flutter.
I closed my eyes and remembered the look on Hades' face when I left the prison. He was broken, he was not proud or angry, he was broken and sorry.
He had cried, I saw it.
And for the first time, I believed him, I believed that he truly had feelings for me. Maybe he did not show them in the right way, but they were real.
He was not perfect, he hurt me, but he also loved me and I could feel it.
I took a deep breath and picked up my phone and I dialed Ava's number.
'Ava?" I said when she picked up.
'Yes, Jane," she replied. 'Is everything okay?"
'I need you to come to my house right now," I said. She paused. 'Right now?"
'Yes. It is important."
'I will be there shortly." she responded.
I ended the call and sat quietly. I didn't know how to explain what I was feeling, but I knew one thing, I didn't want Hades to stay in prison. Not like this and when I was carrying his child.
About thirty minutes later, Ava arrived. She came in looking confused. 'Jane, what is going on?" she asked as she sat on the couch.
'I want Hades to be released," I said slowly.
She blinked. 'What?"
'I don't want him to stay in prison anymore."
Ava stared at me like I was losing my mind. 'Jane, are you okay? You fought so hard in court and you got justice.
He tricked you, he hurt you and now you want to let him go?"
'I visited him today," I said and Ava's eyes grew wide. 'You what?"
'I went to the prison today and I saw him. He apologized and he was honest and I can still feel it."
'And now you want to free him because he apologized?"
'No," I said, shaking my head. 'I want to free him because he is the father of my unborn child."
Ava folded her arms. 'So what? That does not mean he should escape punishment."
'I am not doing this for him," I said quietly. 'I am doing this for my baby."
Ava stood up and paced around. 'Jane, listen to me, you have been through too much and you need rest, you need peace. Why bring this man back into your life?"
'Because I need to do what feels right," I replied 'And this feels right."
She stopped and looked at me. 'Are you sure this is what you want?" I nodded. 'Yes. I am sure."
Ava sighed and she ran her hand through her hair. 'Okay, Jane. If that is what you want, I will see what I can do and It won't be easy, but I will work on it."
'Thank you," I whispered.
She picked up her bag and walked to the door, before she left, she turned back.
'Just promise me one thing."
'What?"
'Don't let your heart blind you again."
I nodded. 'I won't."
When she left, I lay back on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
I didn't know if I was making the right decision. But I knew I couldn't carry this child with hate in my heart. I needed peace.
