Hades' POV
I maintained my composure even though she looked aggressive. I sat calmly to look at what she was up to.
But as soon as she walked close to my table, she crashed down to her knees. My eyes widened with surprise because I wasn't expecting that move from her at all.
Tears started dropping down her eyes as she spoke. 'I am sorry about my actions. Please, forgive me. I need this job." She pleaded with a cold expression. Her face was low.
I watched her from head to toe. It wasn't in me to lay her off. But due to how she started acting out …. I was angry and pissed about it. I had to do the needful.
I can't allow my secretary to be in control in my office.
'Do you really need this job?" I asked her with a thick voice.
'Yes, I do. Please, don't sack me." She pleaded with desperation.
I sighed. 'The only way to redeem yourself is to link me up with your brother." I insisted on that term as a ground.
My secretary wiped the tears in her eyes, and she rose to her feet. 'If you want that, you know what to do. I can't compromise my stand." She paused for a second before she continued speaking… 'If you don't feel like giving me back my job, it's fine. I will leave your company, and I will never return." She accepted her fate. And turned her back to leave my office.
I wrapped my head around what just happened, and I realised I can't let her go.
The company she would link me to was the only way to be able to raise capital for the strategy that I wanted to implement.
I froze at the spot as I gave it a thought in my head because I wasn't expecting that reaction from her. My secretary wasn't waiting either. She pressed the handle of my door to open it, and I arched my ear.
‘Is this how you would let her go and not return?' My heart hit hard against my chest, and I just had to make the damn decision at the moment.
'Fine! I will do what you've requested." I spoke in a loud voice. My secretary halted her feet and faced me from a distance.
Her lips curved with a smile, but she didn't say anything further. Instead, she turned again and took her leave.
Although I was calm, my head hurts with thoughts. ‘Did my secretary just mess with my head?' As I gave that a thought, memories of her reactions started coming to my head, and I couldn't piece anything together.
‘Did I make the right choice?' That question was pretty difficult for me to answer. I don't know. All that was important to me was to get the RK ventures in the Arab country to help me.
I opened my laptop, and I wrote what my secretary had demanded from me. I applied for my signature, and I sent it to her to print it.
I sighed, and I relaxed on my leather chair. ‘What if she doesn't have a brother working in the RK ventures?' My heart couldn't stand to believe anything.
I had to call HR. 'Hello."
'Hello, how can I be of help?"
'Stop preparing my secretary's sack letter." I ordered.
'Okay." She replied and ended the call.
I heaved out a heavy breath while I relaxed my head on the chair.
A few minutes later, my secretary walked into my office with a slow move. A few minutes later, my secretary walked into my office. Her eyes rolled sexily in its eye socket.
I fixed my gaze on her, and she came before me. 'Good afternoon, sir. Thank you for keeping to your words." She appreciated me.
I was silent, and I didn't say a thing. She turned to leave with that excitement.
'You can't leave until you drop your brother's link. I want to reach out to him right away." I started promptly.
'Okay." Fortunately, my secretary had her phone with her, and without hesitation, she did the needful.
'I sent my brother's link to you in your email." After her response… my phone beeped.
It was a notification from my email. Quickly, I opened my email box, and just like that, I saw the phone number.
My secretary wanted to leave at once, but I… 'Hold on. Let me reach out to him." I said, and she was forced to stay until the call I put across to him went through.
Her brother didn't pick at the first attempt. I tried the number again, and this time around, he picked.
'Hello." His voice was tensioned and very deep. 'Who am I onto?" He asked further in a matter of minutes.
'I am Hades, a boss to your sister. I need your help." I went straight to the point without blinking twice.
'Okay… But she didn't make mention of you. Tell her to reach out to me first. Maybe I can listen to you by then." Before I could say anything further, he ended the call.
My eyes rolled within their sockets, and they were fixed on my secretary, who was at ease before me. 'He just ended the call." I snapped slowly.
'It's normal if he does. You are a stranger, and you can't expect him to play along. What were his instructions?" My secretary asked me.
'It's fine. He said you should reach out to him first. And maybe he might consider speaking to me. So, do that right now. I want to discuss with him immediately after that."
'Okay." My secretary replied to me, and she turned to take her leave.
'Where are you going?" My face became harsh, and my voice was fierce.
'I didn't bring my phone." She replied to me casually.
'Oh, okay." I became silent, and she took a walk out of my office.
I inhaled some air, and I relaxed on my chair. It took her a few minutes before she came back.
'I am here now."
