Jane's POV

I winked involuntarily. 'In that case, give me my phone." I yanked at him ready to bring down the walls of the whole building if he didn't provide my phone.

'Okay. I will be right back." He tapped on the table slowly before he stood on his feet and walked out of my presence.

I took in a deep breath and placed my hand on my face while my elbows sat on the table. ‘What's this mess?' my heart echoed aloud. As the thoughts sank in, how I got here was like a dream.

Getting charged for fraud was ridiculous enough and now, they are threatening that they will close down my business.

I puffed out a heavy breath with my hand placed directly to cover the area of my nose. ‘My signature was on that document. Why didn't I read it before signing it?' I was worried, because I knew I was in a deep problem.

If care wasn't taken, I would lose my company in the long run… ‘That is not going to happen. Not now and not ever.' As I made that decision within me, the door opened slowly. A brief air blew over my face.

I turned my head to look at who just walked into the interrogation room. It was the police officer and in his hand was the phone I demanded.

He paced slowly and finally, he sat in the empty space before me. He peered into my eyes like that of a criminal and he pushed the phone slowly to me.

'That's the phone you demanded for." He said with a low tone.

I stared at the phone for a long time. 'What is this, officer? This is not my phone." My voice was rigid and my tone became harsh as I questioned him.

He smirked. 'I am sorry for the inconveniences Miss Jane. But you can't have your original phone." He expressed slowly.

I shot a deadly glare at him. 'Don't give me that bullshit. I don't know the number of the person I wanted to call in my off hand. Just let me have my phone already." My face was harsh and I glared at him with disgust.

He grunted with displeasure. 'Would you rather pay for a bail so you can have access to do whatever you want? That's the only way I can help you here."

I lowered my gaze and my eyes fixed on the table. 'How much is the table?" I asked him.

'Twenty five dollars." He replied to me.

I heightened my gaze and looked at his face. 'I will pay you a hundred dollars for the bail once I lay my hand on my face." I spoke with desperation settling in my voice. I've to get out of this place by all means necessary.

'Okay. Please, stand up and follow me." The officer rose to his feet and he took a walk out of the interrogation room. I stood on my feet and followed after him. It took only a few minutes before I was handed my phone after the officer had spoken with his colleagues.

'Pay the discussed amount into the bank provided." He said to me.

And I felt uneasy with what was going on. The justice system has been tampered with and there was no way of speaking of how corrupt it had become. A bail was supposed to be free but I was forced to pay through my nose.

Thanks to God that I've got a lot of money. I wondered how the poor people were going to survive.

With my phone in my head, I performed the transactions. After they received the alert, I was granted bail.

When I walked out of the police custody, anger settled within me. The person that framed me must pay for what he did. I was ready to go to any lengths to see to the end of this whole thing.

I held my phone tightly and I called my driver. 'Hello, I am free. Come and pick me up." I alerted him where I stood.

After calling him, I had to call my lawyer right away. 'Hello." He answered the phone with a very thick voice.

'Meet me at my house. I have something urgent to discuss." I spoke with an imposing aura. Even though my tone came out with respect, he did not dare say no to my demand.

'I am on my way." That was his response. I ended the call and I had to call one last person - the private investigator I could trust.

'Hello." His voice was stern and tensioned.

'Hello, meet me at my house. I have an urgent task for you." After my words and his subsequent response. I ended the call.

The breeze kissed my skin warmly and the impact made me close my eyes for a second. The tension in my heart dissolved even though my face was harsh.

In just a few minutes, my driver arrived with the car and he quickly stepped down from it just to allow me to settle down within the car as he opened the door.

I walked into the car elegantly and I relaxed my back against the chair. 'Take me home." I spoke in a low tone even though it was an order.

'Okay." He started the car engine. The drive took some minutes and we arrived at my house in no time. He stopped the car and I walked into my house.

Just when I sat in the living room, my phone started ringing aloud. I checked on who it was before I picked up the call.

‘My secretary.' My heart echoed as I was reminded that I was supposed to be at the company. With what was going on, the company wasn't just a priority.

I picked up the call. 'Hello, good morning, ma." She greeted me warmly.

'Good morning. What's the problem?" I went straight to the point.

'I haven't seen you in the office. I thought of checking on you." She spoke with care in his voice.

'I won't be coming to the office today. Make sure you take care of the company."

'Okay, ma." I dismissed the car after her response. With a sigh, I placed my phone beside me.
