Jane's POV

My phone beeped aloud, ‘What's with the beep?' I moved closer to where I had placed it and I picked it up.


I opened the phone. It was a notification. I swiped down the notification panel just to check what it was.

'What?!" I echoed, taken aback by what I saw. My face formed with shock.

'I didn't stop the deadly gang! Why would the blog put me in the headline?" I mumbled aloud with a shocking glare at the catchy headline. I was forced to open the news.


And I took my time to read every sentence that was there. 'In a nutshell, I stopped the deadly gang and helped my cousin get the justice he deserved. Okay…' I do not know whether to be excited about this.

The soldier that actually did the job wasn't acknowledged in the whole act. ‘But why would General Gaza give all the praises to me? He deserves some praise too?' While I remained unsettled about this.


My phone started ringing which aborted the news I was on.

‘Who is this?' I echoed as I gazed at the unknown number directly. I had to pick the call.

'Hello…" I was silent for a while.

'Hello, am I unto Miss Jane?" A feminine voice asked me a question.

Tension drew in my heart and I wondered what the call was all about. 'You are unto Miss Jane. How can I help you?" I asked slowly. My breath slowly gets off my nostrils.

'This is the TSC Broadcasting TV station. And my name is Vanessa. You are invited to participate in our TV program centered on the country's eradication of corruption and illegal activities on the 12th of this month . I want to confirm if you will be available?" She spoke eloquently.

I was silent for a while and I was surprised at the same thing. Getting invited by the biggest TV broadcasting station was a very big deal. I was in disbelief and I had to just ask…'But why am I getting invited? I didn't sign up for it."

'Your remarkable success of getting rid of the illegal gangs and their trades caught our attention. And we thought you would be in the right position to speak about how corruption and illegal activities can be eradicated. And we would love that you share how you get those gangs." She explained.

I was convinced after her explanation.

‘Now, I get it.' But I wasn't sure of my availability on the 12th of this month. 'I am not certain about my availability on that day you disclosed. Can you call me again after two hours?" I asked her, hoping you would agree to a reschedule.

'There won't be a problem with that. I will call you as you have stated." She replied to me.

'Okay. Thank you."

'Have a nice day." She said and ended the call.

‘Wow! This is remarkable.' Even though I have been rich. I haven't been called by the TSC broadcasting TV station in my life. This was a blessing and I am grateful to God for this.

I looked at the time and I realized the time was going really fast. I walked into the bathroom and I took my bath. I wore my clothes and I ventured out of my house.

'Good morning, ma." The vibrant voice of the driver echoed.

'Good morning." I replied slowly before I walked into the already opened car.

He got into the car and started the engine. While the gateman opened the gate.

He drove through the distance and in just a few minutes I got to my company. I paced forward slowly as the thoughts of what General Gaza requested started coming into my head.

'Good morning, ma'am." My secretary greeted me immediately as I walked into the company's premises.

'Good morning. What do I have for the day?" I asked her.

'You have a meeting with Mr Francis and you have a meeting with the Global company brand." She spoke in details.

'Okay. That aside, I have something important to discuss with you. Follow me to my office." I said.

'Okay, ma." She replied with haste as I paced forward elegantly.

In a few minutes, we reached the office.

'Sit down!" I ordered as soon as we reached the office.

After sitting down, I clutched forward and placed my hand on the table before me.

'You have been working for me for a while now and I must commend your efforts. That is the reason I have decided to raise your salary by 10%." I spoke with a half-smile.

'Just like that?" She echoed in disbelief.

'Yes, just like that." I replied firmly.

Her jaw dropped in awe and her harsh gaze slowly turned into a smile. I could see she didn't know how she would react to the news.

'Thank you so much. I am really grateful." She was appreciative even though words failed her to express how in-depthly happy she was.

'Congratulations and keep up with the good work. But that is not all the reason I called you here." I said as my eyes peered into hers.

With a smile on her face… 'What is the other reason?" She asked with the heart that was going to do what I wanted.

'I got invited by the TCS Broadcasting Television station for a program slated to come up on the 12th of this month. How is my schedule for the day? Would I be too busy?" I asked her.

'Please, let me get the daily to-do list to be sure." She excused me and left my office.

I clutched backwards with a deep sigh while I awaited her return.

She returned after a few minutes. 'That day, there is nothing you have on your to-do list." She replied to me after sitting down.

'Excellent! That's all I want to know. You can go."

'Should I add that program on your to-do list for that day?" She asked me.

'Yes." I replied firmly and she slowly left my office.

Two hours later… my phone started ringing out. I picked it up.

'Hello, it's Venessa. Can we confirm your availability for the 12th of this month?" She asked with eloquence.
