Jane's POV

'Take this phone and remove the password for me!" I ordered and extended the phone to the engineer that would repair it.

'Please sit down. This is going to take a long time." He informed me and I sat on a plastic chair.

While I waited for him to finish whatever he was doing… 'Should I recover those lost files on the phone or should I format everything?" He fixed his gaze on me when he asked that question.

'Recover everything. Even those files in the bin." I replied to him at once. Hoping I could still get my hands on those files that might have been tampered with by the police.

'Okay." Silence washed over the moment and I couldn't help those thoughts that were going through my mind as I held onto his wallet.

I turned the wallet within my palm while my thoughts linger on how he died. His death, being unnatural wasn't something I wouldn't let die down.

I knew some higher ups might be involved and I do not care who I must take down just to get to the bottom of this.

'Ma'am, I am done with it." He expressed this while he gave me the phone. I collected the phone from him and quickly opened it.

'Thank you. It's open. How much is my bill?" I asked slowly. I started navigating through the phone.

'Do not worry. I did it for free." He explained and I was taken by surprise.

My face shrank and I gazed at him for a moment. 'Wow! Thank you." I remarked later on.

'You're welcome." He replied to me before I left his office. I returned to the company that morning.

'Good morning, ma." She greeted me with a peck of respect in her voice.

'Good morning. Do I have meetings today?" I asked with a thin voice while I paced elegantly forward just to get to my office.

'Of course. Mr Francis would like a meeting with you at a restaurant. Berkeley corporation's CEO wants to meet with you." She explained as though the meetings have not been scheduled.

'Have the meeting been scheduled?" I asked her with a sharp glare at her face.

'Not yet. Which one should I schedule?" She asked me further.

I opened the door of my office. 'Schedule the meeting with Berkeley corporations. Let the timing be around 12PM." I detailed.

'Okay." She walked out of my office.

I sat down on my leathered chair while I took the phone I just repaired. I started going through it. When I got to the section, my eyes gleaned thin with surprise when I realized the files in there were already deleted. It was later retrieved by the engineer. Everything would have been lost.

‘The police tampered with this phone and it can only mean one thing… the police had their hand in the death of my cousin.' My heart knotted with tension as flashes of memory beat my heart down.

My breath was consummated with hot tension as tears laced underneath my eyes as I remembered how he got to the police custody in the first place.

‘I should have just left him to take my company from me.' I felt terrible for leading him to his death.

While my eyes released the tears, my door creaked and I rubbed off the tears in my eyes very quickly.

'I have scheduled the meeting and this is the file." She said and placed the file on my desk after she had come closer.

'I want to thank you for giving me the contact of your brother. He actually helped me with what I wanted." I expressed my gratitude in the most heartfelt way.

My secretary's lips curved with a smile. 'You are more welcome. My brother said he is going to reach out to you, has he done that?" My secretary asked.

But I wiggled my head negatively. 'I haven't heard from him. Why did he want to reach out?" I asked her.

'I do not know either. But he hinted that he had information about the death of your cousin." She explained to me.

My face shrank and I became tense at once. 'And why hasn't he called me?" I became very serious as I stared at her.

'He might be very busy. You might as well reach out to him or wait for a while. He will definitely call you." She explained to me.

'Okay. I will wait for him to reach out for a while before calling him. Thank you." After saying that, my secretary walked out of my office respectfully.

I wasn't relaxed anymore. I started checking my phone frequently just to see if he would call me.

Minutes passed and it turned into hours. I became impatient and picked up my phone to reach out to him myself. But as I was about to dial his number, my phone started ringing.

And when I checked, I realized it was him. ‘General Gaza.' My heart trailed with an echo.

I picked up his call. 'Hello, good morning."

'Hello, I am calling to let you know that I transferred some information into your email. Please check it and revert. I will be waiting." After relating that to me, he ended the call at once.

My heart raced against my chest softly in suspense. Without further ado, I navigated very quickly to my email. On getting there, I didn't find any new emails.

‘What's going on?' I was disturbed and i had to refresh the email again and again… but there was nothing coming up.

‘General Gaza can't tell lies.' Just as I was wondering what might be wrong… my mind went to my spam email.

‘It should be here.' I clicked on it and I found out that he had been sending that information since yesterday.

‘Gosh! I missed all these…' my jaw dropped and I opened the message. Afterwards, I opened the file attached to the message.

My stomach dropped and my eyes widened in shock. 'What?!" My hand trembled and the phone fell, crashing against the ground.
