Jane's POV

Shatters of glasses from my window littered the ground. Blood stains were on the floor. Footprints were on the ground.


My heart skipped several beats while my eyes widened in shock when I saw that the droplet of blood went directly to my drawer.

I couldn't just stand where I was. I was curious to know what was taken and that made me walk into my office. I went directly to my drawer but I made sure I avoided the blood stains.

My drawer was broken and when I opened it, I realized my laptop and the two drives containing the office information were missing.


'What?! Who could be behind this?" Just as I asked myself, what I overheard Ray was discussing with his friend yesterday came throbbing my mind.

While my eyes gleaned thin… 'Jesus!" My secretary exclaimed with a sharp voice from behind me.


'How did this happen? Did a robber force his way into the office?" She asked with a disturbing voice. Her jaw dropped as she beheld the ruin that was made.

'Someone forced his way in." I looked at the window area only to see that it wasn't properly broken. That informed me that the person who did this must have been severely injured.

'Who didn't come to work today?" I asked her.

'Mr Ray called in sick this morning." As soon as my secretary said that, I knew who did this.

And so, I dialled the number of the cops. 'Hello, there was a break-in at my office." I reported.

'We will be with you shortly."

After the police reply, my secretary and I gently vacated the office while we waited for the police to arrive.

Upon the police arrival, 'Good morning, Miss Jane." I was greeted warmly before I showed them to my office.

They started examining and all the evidence was collected.

'Miss Jane. Who do you think might do this?" The cop asked me.

'Mr Ray, my cousin did this. I want him arrested."

The police shot a glare at me with surprise. 'Why did you think it was your cousin that did it?" He asked.

'Ray wants my position and all he is doing is to hijack my company from me. Arrest him and interrogate him while other evidence should be thoroughly checked."

'Okay, ma'am."

The police left my company after getting all the evidence needed. After they were gone, I called the cleaner to clean up the mess.

With a sigh, even the office wasn't a safe place for me anymore and if this is my cousin's work… I could tell that he is very desperate.

Many minutes later, my phone started ringing and when I checked, I realized it was the cops.

I picked up the call.

'Hello." My voice was thin.

'Hello, Miss Jane. There is a problem. We found Mr Ray in the pool of blood in his apartment. We have taken him to the hospital." He informed me.

And I was taken aback by that information. ‘Why didn't he seek medical aid? Why was he found in a pool of blood?' I queried myself knowing fully well that he must have been cut by the glass which caused severe injury. But that shouldn't stop…

‘Could this be a plan to buy him some time?' My eyes widened when I realized. I clenched my fist and I had to walk of my company.

'What is the problem, ma?" My secretary asked from a distance. But I didn't respond. Instead, I walked up to my car.

My driver who saw my fierce face didn't bother to ask me questions. He jumped into the car and started the engine.

'Take me to Rings Hospital." I declared.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the hospital and I stepped out of the car. I walked into the four walls of the hospital.

Beholding a nurse, I walked up to her. 'Good morning. My cousin, Mr Ray was taken here by the police. I am here to check up on him."

'Okay, follow me." I followed her until we got to the ward.

'He is in the ward resting. We have attended to the injuries." Hearing that from her, I walked into the ward. Ray was still very much asleep.

'Gosh.." I grunted silently looking at the cut throughout his body. ‘You shouldn't have forced your way through the window.' Series of emotions throbbed inside when I saw the pain that he was in.

I checked his feet and I saw a mild cut… 'this is definitely it."

Just as I sat beside his hospital bed, my phone started ringing and when I picked it up.

'There is a problem, ma'am!!" There was a big alert for my hearing.

'What is the problem?" I asked with tension in my heart.

'The company's server has been hacked again and this time the hackers have taken over everything. All the accounts of the company have been drained." My secretary relayed.

'What?! I am coming right away." I was shocked and bewildered. I rushed into my car and was driven back to the company.

Upon getting there, my secretary rushed up to meet me. 'Thank God you are here. What do we do?" Her face throbbed with fear."

'Calm your nerves. I will speak with the cybersecurity experts." I walked elegantly to meet with the cyber security expert.

'What is happening? The company servers have been compromised again!"

'Yes and we are trying our best to get back the server. The attacker did not only get us drained financially but also extracted the company's ownership file. I think the attacker is up to something really drastic." He explained.

My eyes widened with shock and my heart hit against my chest. 'If the attacker has gotten a hold of the company's information, it means the company can be sold without my consent. No, we must do everything to sort it out." At that moment, I became very desperate.

Just when I was in the middle of intense thoughts, my phone started ringing again and when I checked, it was from the hospital.

I picked up the call.

'Hello ma'am, we are sorry to inform you that Mr Ray has escaped from the hospital!"

'AHH!" My jaw dropped in disappointment and my eyes gleaned thin…
