Jane's POV
'Doorbell rings!" I cradled like a kid on my bed, gently using my hand to squeeze the duvet on my bed as I wrapped myself in it while I enjoyed my sleep.
'Doorbell rings again!" The sound echoed in my head. But I was too sleepy. I didn't stand up even though I wished to. I gently rolled to the other side of the bed and I slept softly.
'Doorbell rings again and again!" This time, the person at the door wasn't hesitant to disturb my rest. I struggled to wake up and eventually opened my knotted eyes. My vision was blurry. I had to wipe my eyes with my hands before it brightened.
'Who is disturbing my peace this early morning?" I mumbled with frustration underneath my breath. I carefully climbed down my bed and quickly walked out of my room with my nightgown.
When I got to the door, 'who is that?" I asked, because I can't open my door for a stranger.
'Good morning, It's the delivery guy." He replied elegantly.
I was taken aback by his statement. ‘I didn't order anything. Why am I getting a delivery?' I sucked my tongue with skepticism to open my door thinking it might be a thief or the person might be dangerous.
'I didn't place an order. You've got the wrong address." I replied to him.
'No, this can't be the wrong address. The delivery is from Mr Francis." He stood his ground and when I heard the name, ‘Mr Francis.' I remembered we had that conversation during our meal yesterday.
'Oh." I quickly opened the door. 'My bad, I totally forgot. Can I have the delivery?" I asked, extending my hands.
'You will have to sign this." He said, extending a book and pen to me. I collected and signed it.
He handed over the delivery and he left. ‘Mr Francis and his schemes… What was he thinking when he delivered this? Did he plan to get me killed?' I thought in my head remembering the discussion I had with Mr Atlas yesternight.
‘I can't use this.' I started inaudibly before heading back to my room.
'Phone rings!" My phone started ringing aloud and when I checked it, it was Mr Francis. I grunted with displeasure. But picked up anyway.
'Hello, good morning."
'Hello, Miss Jane. Did you get the delivery?" He asked me.
'Of course, Mr Francis. But I would like to see you this morning. It's very urgent. Are you available?" I asked him.
'Yes. I hope there is no problem?" He asked me.
'Of course not. Meet me at the Beijing restaurant, 9:00 AM. Do not keep me waiting for you." I spoke with an imposing voice.
He chuckled. 'No problem. I will be there." He replied and I ended the call right away.
I exhaled and quickly got myself into the bathroom just to have a quick bath. When I was done, I returned to my room and put on elegant clothing that extended throughout my body.
I walked out of my room and met with my driver.
'Good morning, ma." He greeted me awesomely.
'Good morning, dear. Is my car up and functioning?" I asked him.
'Yes. We can start your morning errands." I half smiled and he opened the door for me.
I stepped inside and relaxed cheerfully. The drive started
I checked my time and I realized it was almost 9:00 AM. 'Take me to a Beijing restaurant."
Clearly hearing my order, he drove to the restaurant and after some minutes I was there.
I stepped down from my car and I walked into the classic restaurant. I sat down in one of the empty chairs while I waited for the arrival of Mr Francis.
Ten minutes later, Mr Francis walked into the restaurant elegantly. His eyes scanned throughout the room before he finally spotted me seated.
I waved my hand so that it would be easy for him to see me. He walked up to the table and sat before me.
'Good morning, pretty damsel. I have many important things to attend to. Let's be very quick with this meeting." He said, clutching slightly backwards on the chair.
'I received the product you sent to me and I must really commend that your team did a good job. But I have a slight problem." I paused.
He became serious, and adjusted himself forward while he glared at my face.
'I was on call with Mr Atlas yesterday night and he told me the side effects of the product. Those side effects are something I cannot risk. So, I can't test the product again." I said, looking at his face.
He exhaled. 'What were the side effects he talked about?" He asked further.
'If I could remember clearly, coughing, bleeding and at the end, leads to death." I explained.
He half-smiled. 'Mr Atlas is telling lies just to spoil my product. I assure you that there are no such side effects."
I shot a deadly glare at him. 'There is no way Mr Atlas would be telling lies."
'Miss Jane, there is no need to argue about this. Why don't you use the product for a month and see? If it turns out like what Mr Atlas said, it means I am telling lies but otherwise, Mr Atlas needs to be arrested for slander." His tone changed and his voice raged out.
I could see seriousness in his eyes. I puffed out a heavy breath from my mouth and my face mixed with confusion. ‘I can't trust Mr Francis' words. He might be planning to have my head since I am not in support of any of his illegal trade.'
'I can't blindly use your products. I am sorry if there is no form of guarantee for my life safety. I can't do it." I spoke frankly.
'We will make a legal agreement. If this product takes your life, I will be imprisoned and killed by the law. My company will wash down the drain and all licenses of my products will be revoked and due compensation will be paid to everyone affected." He spoke rigidly.
'Okay. Get the agreement ready and send it to me in my office. I will have it signed and returned." After my words.
'Okay." He replied to me and the both of us left the restaurant that morning.
But my heart was in thoughts of how bold Francis was. Even though Francis was a cunning man, I don't know how I was feeling towards all these…
'Take me to the company."
My driver started the engine and he drove me to my company. I headed out of the car and I walked majestically into my company.
Opening the door of my office and walking in..
'AHH!" I screamed at the top of my voice while my eyes widened with shock.
