Jane's POV
Just as he went with the security expert. My heart rang in alarm. There was one thing about him that I wasn't very cool with.
I do not know the reason I was suspicious of him. But I just couldn't help myself.
'Ma'am, are you suspecting Mr Ray?" The voice of my secretary called me out of my thoughts which disorganized me from thinking and from staring at Ray.
I faced her. 'Why did you ask?" I arched my left eyebrows.
'The way you stare at him. It seems something is off. Did he do something wrong?" My secretary asked more questions with suspicion all over her face.
'He did nothing wrong and I am not suspecting him." I replied to her and paced forward leaving her behind.
My secretary sighed and she followed after me. Hearing her footsteps behind me, I halted. 'What is it?" I snapped slowly.
'I am sorry to bother you, I just want to inform you about the meeting you have with Mr Francis."
I grunted with displeasure. 'I don't think I am going to attend that meeting with Mr Francis. Until we overcome the cyber attack, I am not going anywhere." I responded.
'Okay. Should I reschedule?' She asked further.
'Not yet. I will give you further instructions as the day closes. You can go now." I said and she excused my presence.
I decided to check how Ray was doing. I do not trust that he could handle that matter one bit. Leaving where I was, I went directly to the cyber security room.
On opening the door, Ray became disorganised as his phone hit the ground. He quickly picked up his phone as he shot a deadly glare at me.
'Where are the others?" I asked with surprise in my eyes since I couldn't see them.
'This is a critical moment. Please, use the exit door just like the others so I can complete what I am doing." He said with a harsh tone. His manner of approach was rude.
That was when I realized he had sent the others out. 'Okay." I replied to him and decided to step out of the room.
I closed the door behind me immediately when I was out, but my instinct was insisting that Ray was actually doing something…
I decided to peep at him using the back window. And when I did that, I realized Ray was communicating with someone via his phone. In fact, he pauses at intervals just to hear what the person would say.
I sucked my tongue after I had realized the reason he sent the rest of the team outside. I do not trust Ray and I was bent on finding out who he was speaking with and why he lied to me that he knew about coding.
I wouldn't scold him if he had told me his friend would be his guide throughout the repair.
‘There is definitely something fishy about this.' I stepped down from where I had peeped for a long period.
‘I will keep my eyes on him.' After putting up with that thought, I left where I was and returned to the company.
After some more minutes, Ray stepped out of the cyber room as he cracked his fingers.
'Did you do it?" His team asked him.
'Yes." After his reply, they rushed inside to check if it was true.
I was standing there, looking at how Ray walked up to meet me.
'I am done." He said and glanced through my body.
'Well done." I replied to him without giving him excellent remarks. In fact, I left his presence at once. Ray watched me until I was out of his sight.
But then, I hid just to know where Ray would be headed next. Peeping from afar, I saw that he was headed for the toilet and I decided to follow him.
'Hello, it actually worked. As it stands now, I think the CEO is going to give me another promotion." Ray said with a huge smile on his face.
'That would be perfect. When do you plan to hijack the company from the CEO?"
'I told you I have a series of three different plans. The first one just worked out and there are two more to go. With this hack, I only need some more information from the company. My cousin, Jane, wouldn't see it coming."
As Ray discussed with an unknown person on the phone, I stood in the background and listened to everything. When he ended the call, I knew it was time for him to get out of the toilet.
I rushed out before he could get a hold of me and I returned to my office at once. Breathing really fast and trying my best to understand what I just heard him discussing.
'Ray is planning to hijack my company? I knew that boy had no good plan all his life. I must find a way to cut him out of my company." I whispered to myself while I clenched my fist.
That reminded me that I should have recorded the conversation… ‘Shit!' I literally forgot about that when I heard him spilling loads of truth.
‘Sack him already. I own the company and no one is going to question me about it.' Just as I thought about that, I realized it was indeed a very bad idea.
‘I can't just fire him in that manner. What would the blog say about me? Assuming he is not related to me, it would have been much better. But letting him stay for a long time is a big problem.' I tapped my feet on the ground aggressively.
While I remained in that state, Ray walked into my office. Bearing his phone in his hand and a smile on his face.
Just a sight of him irritated me and I felt like holding him by the neck just for him to confess everything he was planning. Anger was on my face even though I was trying to maintain my cool.
He sat before me while he ate popcorn with a subtle smile on his face. He lifted his leg and he placed it on my desk.
'I feel like the CEO sitting like this." He flexed his muscles.
'Do you intend to take my place?" I asked him that question and his face shrank with shock.
