Jane's POV
'Ma'am, you have a meeting with Mr Gilbert, the CEO of hash foundations." My secretary clutched forward detailing the meeting.
I was relaxed in my office, my back gently pressing against the chair when my secretary walked in to remind me of the meeting I still had for the day.
I squeezed myself on the chair inconveniently and I stood on my feet. I puffed out a heavy breath with another thought holding tight my mind.
I left my office and I went directly to the meeting room. Mr Gilbert, the CEO of Harsh Foundations was seated with his secretary beside him.
'Good day, sir. It's nice to meet you." I greeted sitting down on the apex while my eyes marked each of them.
'Good day to you too. I am here on an important note." He said while his eyes ran through the room.
'Okay. I am all ears." I said, relaxing backwards on my chair.
'Your company's fame and it's tenacity was recognised world wide. The Harsh Foundations is a reputable company and won't enter into a deal with a company that doesn't have a bearing. We have helped over one million Americans and we are still on the mission to help more people. Harsh foundations wants to partner with your company. We don't mind if you will take the lion share." He detailed.
His words were swift, his voice appealing and his tone was as calm as the sea. My heart beat slowly as I took each of his words into consideration. Each, having a deep meaning. But then, I took a few steps backwards when I realized his deal was too good to be true.
'Do you have the agreement form with you?" I asked him, arching my left eyebrows.
'Yes." he replied quickly.
'Can I have it?" I asked further. His secretary took the form and she brought it before me.
I collected it and started reading through it.
'Have you agreed already?" Gilbert asked.
'No." I wiggled my head negatively after giving that reply. Gilbert went silent while I read through bit by bit.
After a few minutes, I was done reading. ‘This is the best contract terms I have ever read. The Harsh Foundations is truly applaudable.' I was impressed. And I quickly appended my signature.
'Thank you so much for considering partnering with Harsh Foundations. I bet that you won't regret it." He said with a smile on his face.
'With what I read in that contract. I am certain I won't regret it. Welcome to the family." I said, Gilbert stood up and the both of us exchanged handshakes.
'How is the company faring?" Gilbert asked.
The first thing that came to my mind was to inform him of the cyber attack. But I kept it to myself since he was a new partner.
'The company is doing fine." I replied to him as the both of us walked down until we stepped outside.
Gilbert waved his hand and I stood to watch until they were gone. I returned to the company and I went to the room of the Cyber security experts.
'Has the issue been resolved?" I asked the team.
'No. This is way beyond our scope. Although we are trying our best, it is getting out of hand. We need someone experienced to help us out with this." He explained.
I used my hand to clean my forehead in frustration. ‘I need to reach out to the company's staff in case they have a person that can help.' After having that thought, I returned to my office to get my phone.
When I got there, I took my phone and I sent my secretary an emergency message. A few minutes later, she replied positively.
I sat in my office and waited until she got back. A few minutes later, my secretary was right in front of me in my office.
'I have gathered all the staff for an emergency meeting as you've ordered." She said, her eyes running through my body.
'Okay. Go and stay with them. I will be there shortly." I said and she left my office respectfully.
I grunted inaudibly while I gently lifted myself up. I walked out of my company and I stood in front of my staff.
'Good day, everyone. I call you all here to inform you that the company is going through an internal problem. We need someone that is vast with the knowledge of cyber security to help us fight against attackers who have invaded the company's privacy." I informed everyone.
Silence swept across the whole terrain. Each person looked at the face of the other to see if anybody had the skill I was looking for.
When I saw the looks on their faces, I realized my staff were the last person I should have turned to for help.
I was frustrated and I hissed. With breath puffing out of my nostrils, I turned to take my leave.
'I can do it." A deep, audible voice from one of the staff standing hit my ear just as I took some steps to leave. I halted. ‘Why is the voice so familiar?' I turned as I queried myself only to see my cousin standing in the front of me.
'I can do it." He said.
My eyes gleaned cold, taking a proper glance at him from his head to his toe. I was disappointed with the volunteer in front of me. 'We are not joking here, Ray. And I believe you should be aware that this is a sensitive situation." I said, shooting a deadly glare at his face.
But he stood tentatively. His eyes peered into mine courageously. 'I am not joking either. Or do I look like a clown?"
A sense of seriousness was on his face and I was taken aback. My face shrank with a large surprise. 'When did you become a cyber security expert? There was no point that I knew you acquired the skill." I indicated.
But he fumed out a heavy breath from his nostrils. 'Do you want me to help or not?" He asked while his forehead shrank.
I was weighed down in thoughts. While I looked at him suspiciously. ‘Can I count on him?' That question was left for my trusting heart to reply to. But my heart was silent and I do not know if I should allow him or not.
'Ma'am." Someone called my attention and that helped me out of my thoughts. I was surprised that the cyber security expert was beside me.
'What is it?" I turned to him as I asked that question.
'Have you gotten a volunteer already? The cyber attack has gone out of hand and now, they are having access into the company's account." Hearing that, my heart skipped several beats.
'You do not have much time. Will you allow me to help you out?" Ray asked, his eyes peering into mine while he flexed his muscles.
‘This is not a time to be picky.' Even though I was skeptical, I really do not have a choice.
'Okay. Go and do it." I said.
Ray's lips curved with a smile and he went with the cyber security expert. But there is one thing about him….
