The rain fell harder.
Ethan was waiting for me outside.
"The road is slippery." He crouched down. "Let me carry you."
I climbed onto his back.
He really was quite thin, having been sick just recently.
But I truly didn't want to walk myself.
His back wasn't very warm either, with only a hint of warmth at the nape of his neck.
But I leaned on it anyway.
Perhaps because of our tacit cooperation these days, because he never asked "why" one extra time.
I couldn't help shedding a few tears.
He suddenly sighed: "It's not like no one loves you."
"Is it possible that I earned all that money just so when you married into the Koster family, you could live more comfortably?"
I jumped off his back at once.
"Hey, goal achieved, now you're pushing for an emotional feel?"
"Want me to soften up and back down?"
"Hmm..." Ethan touched his nose. "Busted."
