Rey was at a loss for words.
For a few seconds the man could only stand still, with eyes that couldn't even blink. What he had just heard did not feel real, which was why he now tried to open his lips to whisper something.
Very slowly.
"Our... child?" she asked haltingly. "Did I hear you wrong, Luana?"
Luana didn't know how Rey would react to this fact. The fact that she too was shocked to find two lines printed on the pregnancy checker, made her wonder if she should be honest or not.
Luana fleetingly thought, would this news be welcomed by Rey? Or does the man not even want a child at all? Especially now, the atmosphere is very complicated because Beatrice appeared uninvited.
It's like a mystery.
But the conversation with Jovi this afternoon and the various things Rey had said to her lately, finally led Luana to make one big decision. She would let Rey know, she would let him know that she was pregnant now.
Rey's child. Their child.
Nodding vaguely, Luana hung a smile on the corner of her lips. Her eyes lit up.
"I... am pregnant, Rey."
Rey literally almost fell down. It felt like the world stopped spinning this very second, because the entire universe was on his side. The man's tongue was paralyzed, unable to move for a few moments.
Luana rubbed the face of her husband, her lawful husband. Gently, she leaned forward to give him another peck on the lips. "I am pregnant."
Rey really did not know whether he should scream or faint, as his body just felt like flying. He could not ask for more than this, he really could not ask for more.
"Luana," a man's lips trembled as he said the name of his wife, the love of his life. "Am I... going to be a father?"
Luana chuckled. "Of course."
"Oh my God!" Rey finally exclaimed with all his might. "Yes! Oh my God, this is such a gift! This is a gift, Luana! I'm going to be a father! Father!"
Repeatedly Rey formed the 'yes' gesture with his hands, letting his distinctive voice echo throughout the room Luana occupied. Expressing a sense of happiness and gratitude that he could not contain, the man turned back to face Luana who was still watching with laughter on her lips.
There were a few tears pooling in Luana's bead, which fell just as Rey hugged her tightly now. The man pulled his wife into a warm embrace, rubbing Luana's back with very gentle movements.
"Thank you, Luana," he whispered softly. "Thank you for carrying our child, sweetheart. Thank you."
Luana's body trembled so softly that Rey broke the embrace slowly and looked at Luana's flushed face with wide eyes.
"Hey."
"I didn't expect you to take it so well," Luana said as Rey's fingers brushed her cheek. Their gazes met, with Rey's blue irises fixed on the woman. They were a little teary, though she didn't cry.
"I didn't know how to deal with this at first," Luana said again, letting out everything she had been holding back these past few days. "I didn't know you'd be this happy."
Rey smiled widely, full of happiness. Having Luana alone was enough for him, but look at how the universe had now entrusted someone else to be the bond of love between them. Rey truly felt that his life was blessed. Losing the fiancé who tarnished his name had actually brought him to a point of happiness that was far more than what he expected.
"I love you, Luana," Rey said softly. "Look at me, and find your reflection in my eyes. Can you see it? I love you, and even now I love our child."
Luana wondered if she was a hero in his previous life, because everything that was happening now was something she never expected. Deep down inside, she was truly grateful.
She felt appreciated, she felt loved. She really didn't need anything else, she just wanted to be with Rey. Just once in her life, Luana wanted to be greedy. She wanted to have that man, she wanted only herself to be the woman for that man.
Luana's sobs grew louder, but this time they were not tears of sadness but tears of happiness. Rey held his wife again, completely unable to say anything for a few moments. Letting Luana rest her head on his broad chest, Rey was making a promise to himself.
"I won't let you get hurt, Luana, I promise," he whispered. Precise, and full of conviction. "As for our child, I will risk my life for both of you. Right now, nothing is more important than our little family."
Luana felt warm when she heard every word that came from Rey's lips. A nobleman whom she could not even touch, was now very close in her arms.
Her man. Hers. Her husband. The father of her child.
Unraveling the embrace slowly, Luana let Rey look down to latch onto her lips that were slightly wet with tears. The meeting of the two lips made them feel like they belonged to each other, no matter what happened later.
Luana closed her eyes as Rey dominated the embrace, making the woman slowly expand in her husband's arms. The passion and love certainly filled the hotel room, with the scent of lavender that could be faintly smelled on both of their senses.
Finishing that first stroke, the nobleman gazed lovingly at his wife.
"Don't you feel anything?" he asked softly.
Luana's cheeks turned red, like tomatoes. "Feel what?" she asked shyly.
Rey sniffed at his arm area, alternating on the right and left. The sweat still left something sticky on his body, and now he knew what to do.
"I'm sweaty," Rey said with a mischievous blink. "Take a shower with me, honey?"
Luana couldn't help but blush. Especially now that Rey's sturdy hands were already moving around and slipping into the T-shirt she was wearing.
The touch between the skin certainly awakened something that was kept tight. Rey's hand stopped right in front of Luana's flat stomach, then gently rubbed the surface. Their gazes were still locked, serene.
"Let me say hello," Rey whispered seductively. The man's hand held Luana's stomach, which caused a ticklish sensation that made Luana giggle.
"Say hello how?"
Rey hung a smile that was half filled with passion, when now the (naughty) hand slowly moved to slide into Luana's casual pants. Making Luana's body involuntarily tense up, with her back gently twisting.
"R-Rey."
"This way, honey," Rey whispered impatiently. Playing with his hands down there, Rey enjoyed how Luana began to weaken in his arms.
"Stop-"
"Come on, I can't hold it anymore."
