Beatrice didn't seem to want to stop yet.
Pulling away just as Rey finished his sentence, the woman stared at Rey with a bead that was starting to sharpen now. It seemed that subtleties like this no longer mattered, as Beatrice was already thinking of using other means.
"Stop all this!" Beatrice exclaimed impatiently. "You really hurt my heart, Rey!"
"You dumped me first," Rey replied quickly, just as the man leaned back against the sofa. "Don't forget that fact, Beatrice."
Beatrice snorted in annoyance, feeling the rumbling in her chest that was now a jumble of so many feelings. Disappointment, sadness, anger, and a sense of injustice. It was hard to put into words, but she knew she couldn't give up.
Rising from the sofa she had been sitting on, Beatric lowered her head to look at Rey. Allowing the man to have to look up slightly for their beads to meet.
"You're going to regret this, Rey," Beatrice hissed with anger beginning to take over. "I'll make sure you beg to come back to me, I'll make sure you regret every word you said and hurt me this time."
Rey didn't seem to care, as he even raised the corners of his lips. It was very thin, like an unintentional smile.
What the hell is this Rey.
"Do as you please," Rey challenged not to be outdone.
He never thought he would have this kind of relationship with Beatrice, considering her rosy lips were once something he really liked. But that was then. Now pink lips were more tempting. Whose lips could it be if not Luana's.
"What is certain is that I will not let anyone hurt my wife, no matter what past she had before the marriage," Rey said confidently.
Standing up slowly, the man now cleared his chest right in front of Beatrice. "Do you think marriage is something that can be played around with, Beatrice? Let's not forget that mine and Luana's marriage is a legal marriage in the eyes of both religion and the state. Do you understand?"
Beatrice's guts completely evaporated, going nowhere as if there was nothing left. Quoting one of the netizen comments in the previous chapter, it seemed that Beatrice was indeed embarrassing herself for the second time.
Because her arrival was not at all expected, because now the position she left is no longer there. Gone, without a trace.
"You just wait!" hissed Beatrice again. "I won't let a lowly servant like her accompany you, no matter how carefully you protect her later."
The gleam in Beatrice's eyes implied earnestness, and Rey could clearly see that. Now he was grateful for his choice to take Luana away from there, at least so that his wife's delicate ears would not have to hear this discordant voice.
"I'll make sure she leaves your side!" threatened Beatrice again. "You said I forgot something, right, Rey? But there's also something you forgot about your replacement wife!"
Rey's heart was racing. Wait, what was Beatrice going to say?
Now flashing a winning half-smile, Beatrice snorted in annoyance.
"Do you want me to tell you?" she prodded. The changed expression on Rey's face was clear and Beatrice picked up on the signal that maybe she had one more chance.
Her last chance.
"You forget that she is under oath to our family, Rey," Beatrice said arrogantly. As if on cue, the woman dangled a sly smile. "With all the favor she owes my family, wouldn't it be easier for her to walk away from you than risk her life? Her life?"
Rey's body trembled as he heard Beatrice's words, for this was far beyond his expectation. What was this woman saying? Luana owed the Collins family a favor? How did that escape her?
"You...." Rey hissed softly. "You'd better not act rashly, Beatrice."
Seeing Rey lose more than half of her confidence, Beatrice widened her smile even more. But not a pretty smile, but a sly smile.
"We'll see, Rey," Beatrice whispered. "You or I will beg later."
Just as she finished her last sentence, the woman simply turned around. While Rey could smell the perfume that wafted from the movement, she did not utter a single word of greeting.
Swinging her steps to reach the doorknob, Beatrice slammed the tanned door with considerable force. Leaving Rey who seemed to be sitting limply in his chair, eyes wide.
Luana, is this what makes it so hard for you to stay by my side?
