The depths of the ocean seemed to welcome the tiny woman's body, as the water now covered her almost to her waist.

But the woman didn't seem to want to back down, and just like that the nerves in Jovi's head sent a signal that danger might be imminent.

"Miss!"

Jovi called out loudly, hoping that her shout would stop the woman from speeding up.

But the woman ignored, or perhaps didn't even hear Jovi's call back there. Because she didn't turn around at all, as if she was determined to continue into the vast ocean.

"Miss!"

Repeating his call at a louder volume, Jovi chuckled in annoyance when he still received no response.

"Ah, damn it!"

Immediately throwing away the cigarette he still had half left, Jovi reflexively ran to reach the woman's position. Taking off his jacket and throwing it onto the sand, Jovi did not slow down.

The water was now chest-deep, and the woman still had no plans to turn around.

Following her into the water, Jovi felt the cold sensation of the ocean now washing over her feet.

"Miss! Did you hear me?!"

Shouting again, Jovi tried to reach the woman's position in front of him. But it seemed that the woman no longer cared about his surroundings, as her body began to be swallowed by the ocean.

Jovi moved quickly, trying to reach the woman who was no longer visible.

With haste and shortness of breath, Jovi dived into the sea to track the woman's whereabouts.

Jovi's heart pounded when he finally managed to grab the woman's hand, only to find that her body had begun to relax and lose consciousness.

Immediately dragging the stranger back to shore, Jovi didn't notice who she was dragging amidst the cold sea water.

"Let go!" the woman cried suddenly, as her tiny body tried to struggle out of Jovi's grip. "You're not supposed to help me! Let me go now!"

The voice sounded familiar, which made Jovi reflexively turn his head to check who exactly he had just saved.

Like being struck by lightning, Jovi's body stiffened instantly. Discovering that the woman he was clutching was the woman he needed to keep safe.

"Madame?!"

Jovi stammered. He did not expect the woman who tried to drown herself to be Luana, the legal wife of his master.

Luana struggled.

Her strength was gone, just when she thought she would make it through this. But Jovi foiled her plans, bringing Luana back to reality.

Not wanting to waste any energy, Jovi resumed his delayed movement. Dragging Luana with all the strength he had left, Jovi managed to bring their mistress to the shore.

Now both of their bodies were soaked, with sand already sticking to their wet clothes.

Luana coughed, letting out the sea water she had swallowed earlier. Her body flopped on the sand, unable to stay upright as she turned to Jovi.

"You ruined everything!" Luana hissed angrily. "You shouldn't have come! You shouldn't have saved me!"

Jovi sat down right next to their mistress, looking down at the disheveled Luana. Her hair was wet and unbound, and the top of her dress was slightly torn.

Showing off the woman's alabaster-white skin, Jovi accidentally noticed several reddish patches on his master's wife's chest.

"Mistress! What are you doing!" exclaimed Jovi impatiently. "Why are you here at this time of day?!"

Luana breathed with difficulty. Clenching her hands into fists, the woman pounded the sand even though her blows were no longer powerful.

She had almost succeeded, to wipe herself off the face of the earth. Luana really didn't know what had gotten into her, but she couldn't think straight after what had happened between her and Rey earlier.

And just like that she was walking towards the beach, ready to let go of all the burdens that were pressing on her chest.

"I don't know what's going on between you," Jovi chimed in again, not getting an answer from his young mistress.

"But what you're doing is just plain stupid, no matter what your reasoning behind it is!" Jovi scolded again.

The man's chest still rumbled, wondering what if he hadn't taken the path to the beach earlier.

What if he hadn't been there, what if he hadn't dragged Luana from the sea.

What if the depths of the ocean had completely swallowed Luana's tiny body, and what should he say to his master who was now running away.

Luana was still clenching her lips tightly. Being under the water had not made her feel better at all, and now her body began to tremble.

"Your safety is a priority for me, ma'am," Jovi spoke up again.

Luana moved her head to look back into Jovi's eyes, discovering how the man's bluish orbs were glaring at her with an expression that was hard to guess.

There was an implied fear on the young man's face, which was probably mixed with disappointment and curiosity at the same time.

"Can you promise not to behave as ridiculously as before?" It was Jovi's voice again, followed by a long exhale. "If you had not survived, then I would have died too."

This time it was Jovi's body that went limp, trying to breathe better. This was beyond him, and he knew it was not his place to interfere in his employer's business.

Pulling at the thread, Jovi gave a small gasp when now the sound of sobbing suddenly became clear beside him.

There must have been something going on between Luana and Rey that Jovi didn't know about. Because now it seemed that the new couple's relationship was in complete disarray, as one ran away and the other attempted suicide.

Rising from his position to now kneel on the sand, Jovi turned back to face the sobbing Luana.

Grabbing her jacket that she had thrown before entering the sea, Jovi draped it over Luana's shoulders.

Covering her employer's exposed shoulder, Jovi moved closer to make sure Luana was no longer cold. The woman's trembling body was still clearly visible, with sobs that had not yet subsided.

Luana lifted her head to look up now, finding Jovi's sturdy body half-standing right beside her. The man's hands were still clutching his jacket, his eyes fixed on Luana.

"You shouldn't have come," Luana whispered now. The words that came out of her lips were full of regret, with both hands now raised to deliver a punch in Jovi's chest.

Letting Luana vent her anger, Jovi did not back down an inch. Letting the weak hands of his master's wife beat on his firm chest, Jovi could only get closer.

Luana unconsciously leaned her head back into the man's embrace, losing strength as Jovi held her close.

"Hold on," Jovi whispered softly. "Hang in there, even though it may not be easy for you."

With the sound of the crashing waves still audible, Luana's tears broke out again in the arms of her husband's personal assistant.
