The movement of the waves made the ship sway gently as Rey and Jovi both stopped to look around.
"What's that guy doing here?" asked Rey suddenly. His gaze wandered far away, taking in the line of ships lined up neatly in front of him.
"Are you referring to Mr. Pedro, sir?" Jovi tried to confirm.
Rey chuckled softly, somehow so annoyed he felt even just hearing the man's name in the air. He had never deal with Pedro Viscout before, and Rey knew full well he shouldn't be.
"He has several fleets docked here," Jovi chose to speak up. "As we've been informed, Mr. Pedro recently returned from Indonesia after several years of disappearance. Now reportedly, he is courting one of the daughters of the Genneth family."
Rey looked over with narrowed eyes.
"He's in an arranged marriage?" the man asked in confirmation.
Jovi nodded his head reverently, continuing to explain to Rey.
"That's what I heard, sir," Jovi explained again. "Mr. Pedro ran away last year to avoid an arranged marriage. But this time, it seems he can't escape anymore."
Rey's eyes were still narrowed, with something that just came to his mind.
"So the man is undergoing an arranged marriage," Rey murmured almost in a whisper. "How dare he set his eyes on another woman when there's a woman he should be paying better attention to right now."
Jovi nodded patiently, even though the man could not clearly hear what Rey had just said.
"Keep an eye on him," Rey ordered now. "And the next time he sends out wedding invitations, you have to ensure I come with the best gift."
Stuffing both hands into his pants pockets, Rey was leaving from where they had stopped earlier. No longer looking at Jovi, who was nodding his head, Rey carefully descended the ship.
Heading towards the main cabin, Rey could not help but face the woman who had left him alone.
The man's steps stopped when he saw Luana sitting in one of the chairs. Still looking at the same place, Luana looked so beautiful with a smile on her small face.
Smirking from where he stood now, Rey still ruffled his waist. Watching the girl for a while before he stepped up to join his fake wife.
"Look how you smile after yelling at me," Rey sneered as he approached, sitting on the sofa right in front of Luana.
Slightly surprised, Luana gave a small gasp.
"Where are we going?" the woman asked curiously, as if not heeding Rey's sneer that greeted her with an unusual sentence.
"Now you're even asking where we're going? Seriously!"
It seemed that the nobleman had not accepted Luana's treatment earlier, as now his facial expression showed a cold look.
Luana breathed in slowly, not wanting to ruin the good mood she had just been in.
"Are you still angry?" The girl asked with a facial expression that was as innocent as possible.
Luana did not want her relationship with Rey to heat up because of the dispute, and she had planned to enjoy this cruise with all her body and soul.
Rey folded his arms in front of his chest, paying close attention to how Luana now displayed a smile at the corner of her lips.
"I was just joking!" Luana continued. "You're always yelling at me when I haven't done anything wrong. He asked for my cell phone number, and I told him the truth."
Rey knew. The man knew that Luana had done nothing wrong earlier because, secretly, it turned out that Rey was watching what happened between Luana and Pedro from the other side.
After a few seconds of pause, Rey also tried to extinguish the annoyance still entrenched in his heart. He is upset because now someone yells at him at will, even though that woman entered his life no more than 42 hours ago.
"Forget it," Rey said later. The man's eyeballs probed. "But is it true? That you don't have a cell phone?"
Luana almost laughed. It turned out that not only Pedro did not believe it, but Rey did too.
"That's right, I don't have a cell phone," the girl said honestly. "I'm too busy in real life to need such a device."
Rey's forehead knitted momentarily as he now looked flabbergasted by Luana's answer.
Nowadays, it is strange for someone not to have a communication device, especially for a noblewoman like Luana.
"Now it's your turn," Luana took her turn to speak up. "Where will this ship sail to?"
"Not far," Rey replied quickly. "Just around that one island up ahead, but we'll probably be back tomorrow afternoon."
"We're going to the island?!" Luana half-exclaimed. But this time, the girl exclaimed not out of anger but rather out of a sense of excitement that came over her.
Rey nodded twice, noticing how Luana showed a 180° different expression when they were at odds earlier.
Now, that beautiful face seemed to glow even more, with a smile that had not disappeared.
"Are you so happy?" Rey asked this time.
"Of course!" Luana glanced around now that the mini-sized cruise ship had begun to move out of the harbor.
The sound of crashing waves was the back sound, with the chirping of birds flying freely in the sky above.
"We'll be staying on the island tonight," Rey explained. "I hope you don't make a mess because I have fireworks to attend tonight."
Luana listened carefully, followed by a nod of her head later.
"I can stay," the girl said. "But if you let me, then I'll come and just stay and watch the fireworks."
Rey seemed to agree because that was how it was supposed to be. He couldn't leave Luana behind because she was right there with him.
This trip had been prepared in advance, and Rey didn't want to cancel because the fireworks party invitation had also been accepted months ago.
However, he had to come and show his face there to maintain the existence he had built.
Now, getting up from where he was sitting, Rey stood up straight to plan towards one of the cabinets in the ship.
Just as he was about to turn around, Luana's voice stopped him.
"Why are you preparing for this trip, Mr. Rey?" asked Luana.
The girl looked up to stare at Rey, searching for an answer to the question that had just come out.
The two pairs of eyes interlocked as Rey tried to sort out the words to answer Luana's question.
Starting with a Lehman, Rey smirked from the corner of his lips.
"There are two reasons why I brought you along on this cruise," Rey said. "First, because this voyage was supposed to be my gift to Beatrice, you are here to take her place."
Just as Rey let Beatrice float between them, Luana suddenly faltered.
The woman's gaze did not weaken, but she could see the sad light themanatingrom Rey's eyeballs.
"And secondly," Rey continued. "I may not want your presence, but at least I don't want to be alone after I was dumped."
With a single swinging step, Rey was already moving from Luana's presence.
He left the young girl with a rumble in her chest as she almost forgot that her existence was unreal.
Because it was Beatrice, who was supposed to be on this ship, not her.
