Audrey shrugged. "I was just wondering have you proposed?" She asked again.
"And why should I propose?" Michel asked, eyebrows furrowed.
Eddie and Mark looked like they were hiding their laughter behind their fists. Even Charles looked like he was smiling while Carlos and Andy just shook their heads and continued to eat.
"Ah, you keep calling Fanny your woman, so I was just wondering if that means you've proposed to her yet?"
Michel shot Fanny a puzzled look before looking at Audrey again. "I mean would she be my wife if that's what you're asking?" He spoke casually, causing Audrey's face to turn red, her eyes bulging.
She raised her chopsticks tighter and glared at Michel. Fanny has a feeling that she's plotting murder in her head.
"You have to ask her if she wants to marry you?" Kaylin also participated.
Michel looked completely confused and clueless while Fanny could feel her cheeks heat up, keeping her eyes down on her plate. She couldn't believe they were discussing this while everyone was present.
This is supposed to be breakfast, not an interrogation about something related to her relationship with the leader. However, to her surprise, Michel didn't even seem to mind as he nonchalantly turned to talk to her.
"Fanny, do I have to do that?" She suddenly heard him talking directly to her.
Wait, what? Michel's question was imprinted on her brain. Did he really ask her that? In front of everyone?
Fanny looked at Audrey and then at Kaylin, both looking like they were about to have a heart attack. Michel looked at her expectantly, waiting for her answer.
In fact, everyone is waiting for Fanny's answer. Feeling confused, she played with the hem of her skirt nervously.
"I mean, not really? To my knowledge, that's what we're going to do, isn't it?" She replied hesitantly but honestly.
Michel nodded, looking completely in agreement with her. "Exactly my thoughts. We're getting married, but we don't have any concrete plans yet."
If it weren't for Charles pushing her down, Rosabella would have jumped over the table to slap Michel. "It's not a marriage proposal." She spat with an annoyed expression.
Michel looked confused again. "I just asked and she confirmed it. We're getting married soon." And with that, Michel went back to eating.
Carlos giggled and coughed, concealing his amusement. Andy and Vengo did the same before they continued eating.
Seconds later, Fanny also lifted her fork while Audrey was still staring at Michel's forehead.
---
Of course, the death of Mr. Aiden doesn't mean their mafia life will change dramatically for them. Well, the imminent threat after Mr. Aiden and Archibald are gone, but like before, they still have their main enemy to deal with, the Phoenix gang family.
Therefore, that night, when Carlos, Eddie, Kieran, and Michel returned from a mission, there was an encounter with one of the opposing members, which resulted in a gunfight.
Fortunately, only Kieran needed stitches, Michel took him to the infirmary where Fanny started working again. She quickly took care of the wound, cleaned it, and bandaged it, and before long it was just her and Michel in the room together.
Michel was sitting on one of the chairs while Fanny cleaned up the used gauze, wiping the counter. Glancing at him as she washed her hands, she couldn't help but sweep him down.
"Are you really okay?" She asked a third time, still worried that he might get hurt too that he didn't want to tell her.
Michel chuckled, watching her dry her hands on a towel as she took off her white coat and hung it up.
"I'm really fine, but I know you, anyway you want to check on me right." He grinned.
Walking over to him, Fanny held out her hand so she could lead him to the hospital bed, making him sit up on it.
For the next ten minutes, Michel just let her examine him thoroughly, checking his vitality, and his pupils, taking off his shirt to listen to his heartbeat and make sure that everything is normal.
He just let her, looking at her face with a smile on her face as she watched his health with such a serious expression on her face, he had to hold back his laughter.
"Are you done?" He grinned at her when she finally put the receiver away, letting out a long sigh.
"Okay, you're right..."
Michel shook his head at her amusedly. "Perhaps you can't see what's wrong." He teased her, noticing her expression quickly turning into concern.
"Why? Are you in pain? Why didn't you say that before..."
"No, I'm not hurt, Fanny. I'm just..." He stopped as he reached out both arms and pulled her body into the space between his legs, her face very close to his.
"I'm not very well, you know..." He spoke, only this time his voice was much lower, no longer teasing.
"I do not understand..."
Then he kissed her.
Michel gently pressed his lips to hers as he opened them and added a bit of his tongue, biting gently into her mouth.
It wasn't a big gesture, but it was a gesture that made his intentions clear. And Fanny understood them immediately. Because she feels the same way.
She is ready to take that step with him and finally seal their love in the most intimate way possible.
They then went to their rooms, having missed dinner anyway when the twilight hour cast a beautiful light through their room.
For some reason, they didn't go to sleep but sat on the couch instead as if they both knew they needed to say a few words before they felt so out of place that for a moment, they will no longer be able to set parameters.
"Let's go slowly, okay? Whatever makes you feel good, Fanny."
Michel put his arm around her, pulling her toward him, her head shifting to his chest.
Tingling shot through her, her eyes closing as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
"Okay..." She smiled.
