However, one thing is for sure, the incident left the nurse extremely shaken and distressed.
"For God's sake, Charles. Don't just stand there, get that woman a glass of wine." Michel hissed at his second-in-command, who also didn't seem to be himself.
Ever since he walked into his office ten minutes ago, Charles hasn't acted like the usual collectible and actual mafia member he's known for.
He seemed to be everywhere, focusing on Rosabella and trying to help her while his eyes kept drifting back to his boss, waiting for some guidance that would somehow fix the situation.
Deep down, however, Charles knew that this wasn't going to happen. What happened, there was nothing he could do about it. That's exactly why he felt so lost.
Handing Rosabella a glass of scotch highball, he noticed her hand was still shaking so he finally brought it to her lips so she could take a sip, hoping it would calm her nerves soon.
Michel waited a moment, pulled up a chair, and sat down when he gave them the few minutes they needed.
When he saw that Rosabella was no longer struggling, her breathing steady and her gaze finally fixed on him, he cleared his throat and took a deep breath to prepare himself for an upcoming explanation.
'So…" Michel began, leaning forward as he rested his elbows on his knees, his gaze focused on the two of them. "What exactly happened?"
Feeling that he should be the one to leak the news to Michel, Charles instinctively stepped forward. "We did..."
Michel cut him off immediately. "Rosabella, I want to hear that from you. Tell me."
One look at the girl, and Michel knew at once how she felt. This is not the usual talkative person he knows.
At that moment, she certainly wasn't the sassy nurse who kept walking into their office unannounced and speaking her mind openly.
And Michel knows why. Rosabella just killed someone for the first time. Although he knows that Archibald is a dead person anyway and doesn't deserve to live and breathe the same atmosphere as his family, he also knows that it doesn't matter.
He didn't count how many people he killed but he is sure that he will always remember his own first murder that he committed.
Michel was only seventeen at the time and was out on duty with the former Black Roses leader and father Mr. Wallace.
At that time, Mr. Wallace insisted on his son watching over him, teaching him the basics of organization and the first code of ethics.
However, he also consciously chose some of the less bloody responsibilities at first because Michel was still young and he wanted to keep his wife, Chitrangada, happy.
However, when they are attacked during an outing, and Mr. Wallace was eventually shot, Michel had no choice but to protect them.
Seeing Rosabella like that, he guessed that she must have been caught in a similar situation.
He certainly couldn't imagine that she had gone to find Archibald herself and had been planning to do this for a long time.
Apparently gulping down her throat, Rosabella licked her parched lips and looked back at Michel.
The usual mischievous glint in her eyes had disappeared and was replaced by a veil of shame while her complexion was still ashes.
"Charles and I were in a... we're in this hotel room. It just happened so fast. Suddenly they broke in and..."
She bit her lip and closed her eyes. As if she was still seeing events unfold in her head, clearly having trouble forming words.
When Michel saw that she couldn't continue, he turned to Charles and glared.
His second-in-command knows exactly why his boss is so angry with him.
He took Rosabella out of the mansion, while all were clues that he was not authorized to do so.
And not only that, Charles did this even after witnessing what happened the last time Michel took Fanny out.
He had to kill several members of Phoenix while Fanny was there, watching the whole thing unfold right in front of her.
"You two in a hotel room? What happened next?"
Charles drew in a steady breath. "There were three of them. Archibald and two members of Phoenix. Rosabella told me that the other two were the people who were with him when they broke into Fanny's house. They were the same people who escaped with him at Andy's wedding." Charles confirmed.
Michel's eyes darkened with anger, suppressing the urge to immediately destroy something in the room to vent his anger.
"Continue." He hissed, his hands clenched into fists.
Charles ran a hand through his hair, looking frustrated with himself.
Michel guessed it was most likely because he failed to manage the situation on his own and keep Rosabella out of the mess.
"Somehow they got to me. One of them was holding me down and Archibald was standing right in front of me, ready to finish me off. My gun... I must have lost it in my life. fighting. And the third guy..."
Michel watched as Charles tried his best to keep him calm, fighting the urge to bare his teeth as his nostrils flared and his eyes turned black.
"The third guy had Rosabella, but she ended up fighting him and in the end... she finally managed to get him out and found my gun. That's when she shot him."
Michel was silent as she watched Rosabella lower her gaze to his hands, looking at them as if she were deeply ashamed of what she was capable of.
Scanning Charles's face, he saw a different kind of emotion. He sees a mixture of anger and frustration, but most of all, he sees anxiety.
The concern that Charles most likely had for the girl sitting at the foot of the bed with trembling hands in her lap.
"Anyway, I managed to finish off one of those guys. The other escaped." Charles explained as he reached into his pocket for his phone.
