Vengo proudly handed the newborn baby to the leader of the Black Roses as Fanny sat on the edge of the king-size bed on which Audrey was lying.
She had only been moved from the infirmary to their private room the night before after going into labor for eight hours and had time to recharge.
"A little girl..." Vengo couldn't help but smile from ear to ear, proudly watching Michel hold the baby in his sleeping arms.
"What is her name?"
"Omorose," Audrey replied.
The four people in the room smiled softly before Vengo sat next to his wife by the bed, taking her hand in his.
"There's actually a reason we're asking you guys to come together."
Michel looked up from the baby in his arms and glanced at Fanny before turning to Vengo and Audrey.
"What's up?"
Audrey sat up wearily and chewed her lower lip in anticipation and anxiety.
"I have a special request." She said, finding Fanny as she looked at Fanny curiously.
"What's up?"
Sharing a knowing look, Vengo and Audrey intertwine their fingers before explaining.
"I think we all know that our leader will be our child's godfather, but... Fanny, we want you to be the Godmother." Vengo declared, feeling the real tension welling up from the wife beside him.
He knows that she really wants Fanny to be their child's Godmother. Although, she also doesn't want to pressure her to do it out of politeness.
"Audrey, I'm not sure if..." Fanny began only for Audrey to cut her off immediately.
"Please, Fanny. At least think about it, ok? We won't be christened until Mr. Aiden... Uhm, you know…" Audrey pleaded.
Her expression softened, Fanny turned to Michel who was standing closer to her, carefully gesturing for her to hold the baby.
Holding the almost weightless human in her arms while her mother looked at her with her big sparkling eyes, Fanny felt overwhelmed with everything.
What should she do? Her head is telling her not to fall into the trap of attachment with a sense of family that keeps creeping into her feelings.
Audrey's loveliness, Andy's brotherly protection, Michel's patience...
But then there are also plans to leave everything behind and start over with Rosabella.
Is this even possible now? Fanny doesn't even try to sleep alone, always relying on the fact that Michel is there with her.
And on another note, it's starting to become clear to her that even Rosabella herself feels very comfortable in her job as a nurse and the friendship she has with Kaylin.
Sighing as Fanny looked at the baby girl sleeping soundly in her arms, she continued to clear up the storm that was always on her mind.
---
"Sleepless?" Michel's voice pierced the silence of the night as Fanny lay there, her back to him while he was facing her.
For the past three days, they didn't talk much, he was so busy that he could only go to bed with her when she was fast asleep.
However, that hasn't stopped her from feeling the same way since the new female Black Roses recruited and opened her mouth to her.
Before she could control herself, those words left her mouth.
"You slept with Kaylin," Fanny said.
She heard him take a deep breath as he sat up carefully as if in slow motion.
"What?"
Fanny turned to face him and sat up too, her eyes rimmed with fire from the anger she felt.
"How?"
"Oh, she told me herself."
A flash of frustration crossed his face before he swallowed deeply and licked his parched lips, clearly searching for the right words to say.
"I hope she also told you that this is in front of you?"
She shrugged. "Perhaps you want to go back to that."
"What?"
"Uh, wasn't it easier for you back then? It seems to work pretty well. I mean, she's still working for you and even being part of this family now. "
Michel couldn't understand what was happening. Is she trying to think of a reason to push him away now? Desperately looking for an excuse for her not to admit how she feels about him?
How does she still feel about him?
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"You tricked her and I'm just an innocent girl working as a nurse, wouldn't this be easier?" Fanny is defiant, her voice harsh while all her body language and face say one thing.
Fanny feels vulnerable.
"Don't you want to go back like that?"
"Are not."
"Why did you lie to me?"
"I don't lie. I don't have to lie."
"Then admit it."
"What?" He raised his voice now.
"What do you want me to admit?"
"You just pity me. You don't really want to do all this. You just feel guilty for what happened when the truth is you want someone like her."
"Fanny. I don't want her. I want you."
Falling into silence, the two stared at each other while the weight of the words sank into them.
He showed her in many ways how he felt about her, but he never actually said the words.
Michel really doesn't know why other than the fact that it scares him into being raw with his feelings.
He knows he needs to tell her, but this is not what he's ever done in his life.
He was raised to make a strong front and never really got in touch with his emotions unless it was the anger that was going through him.
But now? For four weeks all he could do was curse and hate himself for pushing her away and now he's got her here with him.
What the hell is he waiting for?
"As you, I want you." This time he repeated more quietly.
Swallowing the dense ball of emotion suffocating him, he leaned in a little closer as he reached out a hand to gently stroke the side of her face.
"I... I love..."
"Do not say like that." She whispered, covering his mouth with her palm.
He could see her draw in a nervous breath as she slowly released her hand from his lips and held his gaze with glittering eyes.
