Without knocking, Michel entered the office, startling both Vengo and Charles, and both Vengo and Charles instinctively reached into their coats, ready to take their guns.
However, when they saw that it was only Michel, both of them immediately relaxed.
That was until they noticed his appearance.
Their second-in-command looked very messy.
The collar of his coat is crooked, his usual messy hair is more and more messy, and his eyes are not focused.
"What the hell? Why don't you knock?" Vengo immediately started raising his voice, unconcerned with this careless behavior.
The office is a private space in the house, no one enters it without knocking on the door first.
"I need to talk to you," Michel said, voice unsteady as his breathing became difficult, standing in front of his desk, looking more serious than usual.
Vengo shot Charles a questioning look before he looked back at Michel with curiosity.
"Good, what's up?" He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.
Michel licked his lips and swallowed hard to try to make his dry throat feel better.
Once he makes this request, Fanny will no longer be his responsibility and he will eventually be forced to stop messing with her life.
At least that's what he's saying to himself.
Because Michel knew exactly that this would only be a flimsy aid, a sad excuse to cover up what had just happened between him and her.
Fanny's words were still heavy in his mind, her voice clinging to the inside of his ear, over and over.
He has trouble concentrating or even standing upright.
I love you...
Michel closed his eyes as if he was trying to get the memory out of his mind.
But it's of no use.
He knows that no matter what he will do, nothing will make him feel normal again.
Just do it so she can at least leave and forget about you. So that she can be safe from your bullshit and this life.
After all, there's no innocence here where he is, and even after what they've done, Michel isn't surprised that the spark of trust in her eyes hasn't disappeared.
Even they were in tears and she looked at him with a lot of pain.
Even then, he can see the innocence and love she has for him.
He took a deep breath and opened his eyes again.
"I want to arrange for Fanny to come home." He was forced to speak, trying to be as sane and unaffected as possible.
Vengo raised both eyebrows in surprise as he stared at Michel.
"Her house is with us, Michel," Vengo said realistically.
"I understand that, but her father is sick and she needs to be with him."
Michel's voice rang out a bit and before Vengo had a chance to question why his second-in-command would make such an outlandish request and grasp the personal feelings involved here, Charles entered.
"He meant she was redundant. She cried and worried us. Besides, we have Christian. We don't need her. Is that what you mean, Michel?" Charles shot him a warning look, telling him he needed to pull himself together.
And Michel immediately understood.
Charles cautioned that if he sounded even a little bit involved, it would raise questions.
Vengo frowned at Charles and sat up straight in his chair.
"She can't go home now, friends. She knows too much and too many people know about her."
Charles answered before Michel could open his mouth, knowing full well that anything that would come from his mafia brother would sound suspicious.
"Yes, we know. But she has proven herself to us many times. I don't necessarily see the need to kill her if we can arrange and remove her in this way. A place to live new and some security will be easy, sir." Charles calmly explained as he watched his brother pull out a cigarette.
Vengo shrugged as he lit a cigarette between his lips.
"Anyway, I don't want her to reveal anything. Make sure she understands that. Because if she doesn't, I'll make her a shish-kebab myself." He turned to Michel and spewed out some smoke.
"And let me tell you this, if she's the target it's you, Michel. We won't try to protect her if she doesn't want to live under our roof anymore." He stood up and was speechless, leaving the other two in the office.
When Charles was sure the door was closed behind them, he turned and gave Michel a stern look.
"What?"
But Charles didn't even have to voice his opinion for Michel to understand.
Michel's behavior is so out of place, he has put everything and everyone around him in danger.
"You know what, I wouldn't even ask. Just make sure your plan is sound. And really make sure this is what you want, Michel. You heard Vengo say it, once she did. She'll be out of our hands. So there's no more of this, are we clear?"
Michel closed his eyes as he sank into one of the chairs, resting his head on his hand.

Gwen hit the pause button as her lips curled in a self-serving, satisfied smile.
It was risky to put a small recording device in the office, but her father was right.
If they want to get the facts and specific information, they need to use these methods.
And the information she has at hand is worth a lot.
Quickly getting up from the bed, she was lying on, Gwen hurried to her walk-in closet and stashed the small device in one of her jewelry boxes.
She knows that Carlos will never come looking for anything there, so she feels that she has chosen a safer place.
Now, she just needs to come up with a good deal plan to get past Michel.
Gwen thinks that if he wants to organize a new home in an unknown and secure location for Fanny, she knows that this will take at least a few days.
So she has to act and act quickly.
With the wheel spinning in her mind, she came up with good ideas, but picking up the phone, she decided to call her father anyway, knowing that if they worked together, they will definitely make up a solid strategy.
