I woke up and happily walked into the bathroom to do my morning routine.

But while brushing my teeth, a grin appeared on my face as I heard a familiar engine revving outside.

Quickly finishing up, I ran down the stairs, skipping the last step and landing loudly at the bottom.

"Wish you were that excited to see me." I heard Dale mumble as I passed.

Laughing, I left a kiss on his head before walking outside.

The cold morning breeze came in contact with my warm skin, making me shiver.

I looked up and my eyes locked with dark silver ones.

  He's in a bad mood.

"Hey." I said as I approached.

He was leaning against his motorcycle staring at me blankly.

"Hello." He said shortly, making me shake my head.

"Grumpy is back." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

He narrowed his eyes at me. A grim expression taking over his face.

Instead of cowering away like I wanted to, I stepped forward and hugged him.

My heart raced as I waited for him to push me away.

  But he didn't.

He just stood there frozen in place for a while before placing his arms around me.

He leaned his head down and rested it on top of my head before sighing.

"What the fuck are you doing to me?" He asked.

  "Hugging you?" I replied stupidly.

He stayed silent, probably laughing hysterically at me in his mind.

Then he pulled away slightly and I put my hands on his chest.

His eyes dropped to the ring on my finger before he looked back up at me.

His eyes were now light grey again. They were cloudy but still showed no emotion.

"I'm leaving for a while." He said, staring off into space.

"Going as in coming back later?" I asked and he shook his head before sighing.

"I'll be gone for months." He said and my eyes widened.

"What? Where? Why? How? When?" I asked all at once.

  "Business." He replied shortly.

"What business, Lucifer?" I asked seriously, trying to step back but he held me in place.

"Family Business." He responded, sounding more and more agitated as he spoke.

"Oh yeah? And what might that be?" I pressed on, watching as his eyes became darker all over again.

"That's enough." He said, his voice ringing in my ears.

Immediately, tears started forming in my eyes. They wasted no time sliding down my chin.

"I just don't want you to get hurt." I said softly, looking away from him.

I heard him sigh and slowly, his hand reached up to my face.

He held in, wiping away the stray tears with his thumb.

"I know." He said, his voice deep and husky.

Another tear dropped and he looked at it before leaning down and kissing it away.

Butterflies erupted, dancing all the way up my spine.

And at this very moment, my stomach decided to growl like the animal it is.

Zayn's eyes snapped to mine, an amused look on his face.

"Hungry?" He asked, already turning around to grab his helmet.

"Very." I replied, thinking of all the food I can stuff in my belly.

"Let's go." He said, checking his watch and helping me onto the bike.

I wiped the rest of my tears away on his back and he turned to look at me slightly with a blank look.

I grinned at him and he shook his head before speeding off.

  "Why don't you just ask?"

"Because everytime I ask you a question, you push me away."

Right now we were sitting at a small diner in the city.

He ordered a small water and I ordered a plate of bacon and eggs and a chocolate muffin.

We sat at the back and started talking.

"Ask me anything, and I'll try to answer." He said and I grinned widely.

"Okay. What do you mean by 'Family Business'?" I asked, bringing it back up.

"Do you really need to know?" He questioned, sipping his water.

"Yes, I do." I said. He sighed and leaned back, massaging his temple.

"My father's Mafia is now mine." He said blankly, looking me dead in the eye.

I choked. Like really choked. And he stared at me this entire time waiting for me to finish.

"That's cool." I said, looking away as my fear of him only rose.

"You're scared. Again." He stated, leaning forward.

"N-No" I replied, absentmindedly leaning backward.

"Sure." He rolled his eyes sarcastically as he took another sip.

"Why does your sister live with someone else?" I asked.

"My father is dead. My mother is gone." He replied nonchalantly.

"So you live alone?" I continued asking.

"I have maids, guards and cooks. I'm never alone." He said, shrugging.

"That doesn't count" I said quietly

He looked away, getting lost in thought before his eyes returned to mine.

  "Your parents?" He asked.

"Dead." I said, looking down at my hands.

  "How?" He questioned further.

I contemplated telling him. But in the end,

  Fuck it.

"My mother died in a fire. My father killed himself" I said, shivering at the detailed memories.

  "Okay." Zayn said emotionlessly.

How could someone be so heartless?

I just told him an something bi-

My thoughts were cut off by my hand being held. I looked down and followed the hand to Zayn.

He held my hand under the table, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

  "It's alright." He said.

His voice sounded forced. Like he's never said that before.

I laughed, shaking my head. I stopped and then fell back into fits of laughter.

He didn't even ask. Probably aware of why i laughing already.

Letting go of my hand, he checked his watch and got up, giving me his hand.

I took it and we left.

He stopped the bike, kicking down the stand.

I didn't let go of him, only squeezing him tighter.

"I have to leave, Princess." He said, running a hand through his hair.

"I don't want you to." I replied and he sighed.

He turned to the side and placed his hands on my waist.

He lifted me and instead of putting me on the ground as expected,

He put me infront of him.

I sat at the front of his bike facing him. My legs were over his knees as he held me, keeping me from falling.

"I'll be back before you know it" He said, looking at me.

  "Promise?" I asked.

He rolled his eyes. He removed a hand from on my waist and he reached up to his neck.

He fiddled with something and soon pulled out a thin golden chain.

It was plain except for the pendant that had a snake on it.

He shifted my hair and placed the chain around my neck.

  "Promise."
