Yeah, yeah, yeah
Blackpink in your area!
Yeah, yeah, yeah
The vibrating cell phone kept moving to the side of the nightstand and made it fall onto the mattress. Coincidentally, the flat object fell right on Gabriella's face and made her groan instantly.
"Ouch, what the hell?!"
Still with her eyes half closed, Gabriella woke herself up. She picked up her fallen cell phone and tucked it between the bolsters to check the calls that kept disturbing her sleep.
The clock on the wall was pointing to one, who was the caller who dared to contact her at this early hour?
"Wendy?" Gabriella rubbed her glue-like eyes. The glare from the phone screen hit her eyes, making her inevitably squint as she decided to pick up the call.
Click.
"Hello, Wen? What's wrong with calling-"
"Elle... hiks."
The sound of sobbing in her ears made Gabriella realize that her best friend was not okay. Suddenly, the eyes that had been so hard to open opened automatically opened on their own. Gabriella cleared her throat because she felt her voice was still hoarse from waking up, before finally continuing, "What's wrong, Wen? Are you crying?"
"Elle... I'm really hurt because of Rian." Wendy spoke up, telling everything without caring that Gabriella had only slept for about two hours. Gabriella even had to endure the drowsiness just to listen to Wendy on the other side. "I've been waiting for him for hours, but he didn't come."
"Where did you wait for him?" Gabriella yawned in the middle of the conversation. "Are you still waiting for him or what?"
"I'm home."
Gabriella's brow furrowed. "Home? Do you mean the dorm?" she asked for confirmation. The gray pajamas she had bought a few weeks ago were made of comfortable material, so Gabriella could easily bend her knees and sit cross-legged on the bed now. "Rian is there, right?"
"No, Elle. I'm back at my parents' house."
A low murmur came from Gabriella, but it seemed that Wendy was too sad to care about that right now. Then, Gabriella chose to continue her curiosity about the 'home' Wendy had told her about. Because as far as the twenty-five-year-old woman knew, Wendy had not returned home for a long time and chose to live independently with Rian in their boarding house.
It was heard that initially Wendy and Rian agreed to pay the rent for the boarding house together with a joint venture system. Where Wendy will hand over fifty percent and Rian fifty percent equally, but it turns out that this only applies for two months, while in the following months, it is Wendy who pays the rent for their boarding house and even pays for Rian's life which is not her responsibility at all.
"It's really my parents' house, anyway," Wendy added to clarify. She could even still be herself in her pathetic state, Gabriella felt quite envious of that. "I'm not going back to that boarding house again."
"Really? How come it's like a couple arguing and then the wife leaves?"
Although it sounded like a joke, Gabriella actually had no intention of going in that direction. But apparently, Wendy had no problem with it at all. "Yes, I want a divorce from Rian."
"Seriously?"
"This is serious."
But Gabriella was not convinced by Wendy's words, especially when the woman was emotional. "The thing is, tonight you say A, tomorrow morning it changes again to B, sometimes it becomes C. You've said you want to break up with Rian so many times, Wen. You should calm down now and think carefully about what decision you should make tomorrow morning. You're still emotional, your mind is in turmoil. It's not the best time to choose."
"Yes, Elle. But I've never gone back to my parents' house like this. I have. Right?"
Gabriella mumbled in agreement. "Uh, hm."
"I really want to end my relationship with Rian, Elle. I've just been used all this time."
"You just realized?"
"You're so annoying," said Wendy. Gabriella chuckled at that, but didn't immediately interrupt her best friend's unfinished speech. "This is your friend, your best friend is sad, heartbroken, how can you be so relaxed. Comfort me, or something, at least make me happy."
The woman who didn't even know where her hair tie was just rolled her eyes lazily when she heard Wendy's words.
"I'm really hurt by Rian, Elle."
"Yes, I know. Love is blind, but if you're not blind anymore, I'm happy for you," Gabriella replied simply. After all, the rice had turned into a special chicken porridge with no rubber two.
She had repeatedly told Wendy, giving her wise advice a la Mario teguh just to make her realize that what she was doing with Rian was irresponsible and not good. Indeed, falling in love is not wrong. Falling in love is a very human thing and can be felt by anyone. But who we fall in love with should be our responsibility. Our choices today will determine who we will be tomorrow. Choosing a good partner will create a good future relationship too.
But Wendy is already in love with Rian. So, what could Gabriella do?
"Do you agree with me breaking up with Rian?"
"I agree, I really do. I support it one thousand percent." Gabriella exclaimed with the enthusiasm of a student leader leading a demonstration in front of the Parliament building. "A beautiful and kind woman like you deserves better."
"But my credit card and car are still with Rian, Elle."
"Take it, Wen. Just like that, you're still asking," Gabriella said vehemently. Her grudge against Rian's attitude had often hurt her best friend's heart, but now she poured it all out. All her frustration so far has finally spilled over with the expletives that escaped from her innocent mouth. "What a dog Rian is! Just throw him down, useless humans like that should be far away."
Wendy only muttered from behind her phone.
"Uh but, if your car is still at Rian's, then who did you go back to your parents' house with? By online taxi?"
"No, Elle. Someone took me," said Wendy. Now, her voice was no longer sobbing like before, although Gabriella could still faintly hear the hoarse voice of her best friend.
"Escorted? Do you have other friends who want to pick you up besides me and Rian, Wen?"
"Not a friend either, but my friend's friend."
Gabriella's eyebrows knitted together. "Who is it?"
"Alan."
