Talia's POV

I ran as fast as I could to my basement.

I could only imagine what hell was let loose in Tracy's room. As soon as I got there, I lay down as quiet as I could.

I felt bad for being responsible for all the troubles, which caused the voices that were filtering into my basement, Vance's basement I mean.

After minutes, it begun to die down.

I started to wonder what next. Where would I go from there?

Less than a minute after, Tracy came to my door. I guess it was too heated indoors for her and she opted to take a walk.

'Who is it?" I asked, being very cautious. Answering wouldn't have been the smartest thing to do if indeed it was someone else, but I did already.

'It's me, silly. Open up." Her voice sounded from outside.

'I don't think that's a nickname I'd ever take a fancy to." I replied to her.

'Do you also think what you did a few minutes ago was very stupid? If so, then you're a good thinker." Tracy was very sarcastic. Seeing she was the only one I could hold conversations with, I began to get a little too used to it.

'Come on! Don't be that person right now." I chided. 'Swear you aren't in the least very curious about what made me break in. By the way, I never suspected you were a crackhead. You sure act like it." As soon as I said it, I was hoping the stars would align in my favor and she'd see that I was joking about what I said.

And she did.

'That was the only thing that pissed me off, idiot." She retorted. We had a long laugh after which I decided to get down to business.

'Right after you left here a few hours ago, as you might know, or not, I had begun to get really bored, so I decided to wander. I guess I wandered a little too close to the borders, which is where I saw…"

'You saw her with Landon?" Tracy took the words right out of my mouth.

I felt many things at that moment. My discovery wasn't such a discovery after all.

'So it's common knowledge?" I asked.

'No, it isn't, silly. I just happen to know a lot of things." Tracy replied very proudly.

I made a face after rolling my eyes, secretly wishing she wouldn't be annoyed at hearing the reason for which I disturbed her.

'You have something else to say? That can't be all. Eve Vance began to suspect them at some point. He made her an undercover investigator, against Landon. That's some web you don't want to get yourself wrapped in, dear. Don't tell me that was what you were about to confirm to Vance right after he had my drugs? And don't tell me that's all!" I was so stunned, my silence assured Tracy that I indeed had nothing else to say. Matter of fact, she had more to say that I did.

'I, uhm, I did not know that you knew. I just wanted to let you in." I apologized to her.

'It's alright. Now we know we are on the same page. And for that, I have rules. No running around, no seeing me in the house, no familiarity when there's a third party who isn't Vance, got it?" She said.

I didn't like the sound of that. That definitely wasn't what I was going for. I don't want to be her friend! Hell, I was coming to her! I was hoping holding such info over her head would make her scared, rat out Nadia, apparently, she seemed more bent on covering her up.

'You can leave now." I dismissed her.

Without saying another word, she picked herself up and left.

The day slowly dragged into dawn.

I couldn't get any sleep. I felt so stupid for thinking I could pull the rug from below Nadia's feet when she controlled everything around.

I had to do my shit, and I had to do it alone.

I had just started and I felt like a really big failure.

I shed tears that night, for all I left behind, for all I have to do, for all that could happen to me.

Slowly, but surely, dawn came. I had gotten over my blues and started thinking of another way forward.

I was very sure Tracy came well over the time she was supposed to that morning. We didn't exchange any words.

I thanked her and showed her out immediately our business was over.

I think I heard a knock, but I knew better than to answer.

I kept quiet and waited for confirmation. It came again, two times. It definitely was someone who knew I was there.

'It's me, sweetie. Open up." It was Vance.

I quickly did and he entered.

I curtsied as he did, but he put me at ease and sat on the floor.

'What was it you did that stupid shit for?" He asked, making me feel more of a fool than I already did.

'It was just girls gossip." I said, writing it off.

'You have two options. You either start spilling, or I have you arrested for breaking in." And he wasn't joking. He didn't look like he had much time to waste either.

'Ermm. I had only gone out, from boredom. I wandered too close to the borders and I saw, I saw, I saw uhmm…" All Tracy said kept coming to my head and interrupting my thoughts.

'I'm listening." He was.

'I saw the Luna." I said finally.

'When was that?" He asked.

'I'm not so sure, but it was around one am last night." I replied to him.

'Where did you see her?" He asked.

He didn't look like he knew anything about it. Unlike what Tracy had led me to believe.

'In some house." I said.

'Would you be able to identify the house in the day?" He asked.

'Yes,. Yes I would, Alpha." I replied to him.

'Get ready. We leave in ten." He said and left very noisily.

Maybe he didn't give a fuck about Nadia finding out I was in the building. Maybe I was now free to live a sensible life.

The aftermath of our visit to Landon would tell. I'd also make sure to add all the details. His precious Luna was away doing threesome with his beta and one other.
