Talia's POV
'Why did your brother see a lone wolf who wandered into your territory as an opportunity to usurp the throne, and from whom?" I asked him. I know it's a story Kael would never tell again, so if I want to get it right, it has to be this once.
'Because I fell in love with her at first sight, he was there, he saw it, he knew it." One who didn't know him better would think he was regretting his choices, but that's not a Kael thing to do.
'Sorry about that." I said.
'Doesn't matter." He waves my pity off, and continues without even giving me a chance to reply. 'I hate him, and he hates me, let the worst man win."
'So why are you here then?"I said, humorously, thank the stars he got it.
'Nice joke." He said dryly, but he was beginning to smile. 'What is it they say? It's not over until it is over, yeah?"
'They sure were not referring to you." I threw back at him.
This does the job. His sexy masculine laughter fills the air, brandishing his polished white teeth.
'It's not over, Talia."
Why does it feel like it's the first time he's addressing me by my name? I don't like these butterflies in starting to feel? Why do I feel this way over being called my own name?
'Yeah, yeah, whatever…" no one is ever going to conceded, not me, not him.
'Anyways, I did not let the fact that loving an intruder would rid me of my birthright stop me from falling in love with an angel." He's beginning to look dreamy, and it would be a lie if I said that did not get to me. 'Isla and I had so many wonderful memories together. The fact that we were defying all known laws and principles made it even more intense." He continued.
'One would think one of you would have the common sense to…" I said.
'There's no common sense in love. You'd know that if you ever experienced it." He cuts me.
That stung!
'Ken was her first mate, but after his rejection did not kill her, Moon Goddess fated us to be, till things went down hill." He sounds so sullen.
'You mean she left you too?" I asked, acting surprised. 'That's not so good. She must have a collection of broken hearts." I teased him, mindless of whether he wanted it or not.
'Just as you have a collection of all her features." He threw back. Ouch!
'Isla was and is the only peace I have had in this wicked world. Until she got taken away from me by the same Ken who rejected her." I can see the signs of defeat etched in his face. These stories are making me wonder whether if the bits of my own life that have, up till now, successfully eluded my memory are as pathetic and sad as these are.
'Who's Ken?" I asked him. My musings did not distract me enough from noticing the introduction of some other character.
'Her mate, who rejected her. You weren't following?" He asked, looking a little ashamed.
'I was, I just couldn't place it for a second." I replied to him.
'So how did he get her back? One can reverse a rejection?" I asked both questions almost at once.
'Which do I take first?" He asked.
'How did he get her back? That should be more juicy." I'm trying not to be so excited, considering that I'm not hearing the story from a third party, but from the person who was involved, and hurt.
'It's a long story." I think it's more because it's the part of the story that hurt him more.
'I have all the time in the world." I replied him.
'I'd rather not say." He replied, confirming my theory. 'And yes, a rejection could be reversed. He really did not have a reason for rejecting her. She was, and still is one of the most beautiful in the land." This part makes me blush, then I remember I'm not her. '...from what I saw."
'What you ‘saw' when?" I asked him. It sounds like it has a little drama.
'I was at the ceremony where he accepted her back." He says, brazenly.
'Were you supposed to though? That must have taken a toll on you." I can but feel for him at this point.
'It gave me the closure I always wanted. I no more had to infiltrate Silverhaven pack meetings to see her, no more had to trace her scent to try and locate where she was and make her confess she still had feelings for me." He shuts his eyes and swings his head back and forth, replaying all the emotions.
'You've been an outsider for the most part of your life." I said to him, mindless of how he would take it.
'Smart conclusion." He says, feeling himself, to my annoyance.
'So you lost Isla and lost your place in your pack?" I said, summarizing his ordeal.
'Yeah, I did. Long story short. No moral lessons. Thanks for coming." He wrapped up, sullenly.
'I'm sorry." it's the only thing that comes to my mind to say. I feel bad for all he has been through with nothing really to show for.
It makes me scared of how my own life could be. Maybe my loss of memory is the respite I get, my period of rest before going back to my miserable existence.
I really want to believe my life was sweet and normal with my mate, Vance, by my side, but if it really was like that, why did I die and have to be reborn. Rebirth is usually for revenge . I was definitely done wrong and now is my chance to avenge myself.
'Does Vance strike a bell?" I asked him.
'Alpha of Moonstone?" He asked back.
'Yes. He was my mate too."
He looks shocked and stunned.
'You were the Luna of Moonstone?" He asked for confirmation.
'Yeah. I was. I remember it up until my wedding." I replied to him. 'Beyond that, I have no memories."
'Your life might just be as dramatic as mine." He smiles, misery loves company. 'I would be here for it." He continued.
'I'm scared." I don't want to sound it, but I really am. 'Kael may not be the best company, but he's company regardless."
'That's not how to face it." He says, swaying his head from left to right. 'Sooner or later, you would get your memory, and you have to take your destiny into your own hands."
