Landons POV
Nadia and I leave Vance's house, also known as the pack house because poor and lowly pack members also live there somewhere behind the main house.
Hopefully, no one saw Nadia and I sneak up to threaten Tracy.
We walk for over ten minutes in silence, no one saying anything to the other.
'I'll meet you at home." Nadia says and turns her back at me walking in the opposite direction, towards the pack house whose gate we just left.
'Nadia!" I called out loudly after her.
What the fuck was she going to do?
I really do not know how much she already knows, but her brooding silence of late has been very indicative of some really deep thoughts and probably possession of something that is supposed to be secret.
She has been less conversational and more to herself.
I know when Nadia is holding something back and I sensed it, but for the sake of the task we had just completed, I pushed the thought aside.
'What are you doing?" If it was just a little darker, maybe I would have run after her.
She does not reply to anything I say and is walking so fast.
I would not say I'm scared, but I'm definitely worried, Nadia can't be up to any good.
I can no longer see her anymore, just what the hell does she want to do?
I head home either ways, walking so fast because of the wrath in me.
I was going to unleash it all on Nadia when she gets back, she better have two lives or a good excuse for what she did.
It's dark and silent in the house. Normally, we would light the candles that would then give the house a nice hue, a warmly glowing yellow that we sometimes make love under.
Hearing the usual cricket song and kissed by the warm lightening of the scented candles, Nadia and I make love to each other on days when we felt like a couple.
I'm counting the seconds by both my heartbeat and my breath. By my estimation, which would probably not be so accurate, over an hour had passed.
'Hey." Nadia says, walking in casually like she didn't know what she just did.
'Who the fuck do you think you are?" I asked her. I'm irritated by both her guts and effrontery. After pulling such stupid stunt, she enters back into my house unbothered and acts like all is normal.
'How do you mean?" Nadia tries to act dumb and it's all the more annoying.
I'm livid and my blood is boiling. No one ever tries this with me.
Nadia is acting funny and I need to think fast.
If our plan which is already in motion goes through, I would be the Alpha of Moonstone in less than twenty four hours, and I cannot deal with a Luna who is not going to be submissive.
At this rate, my rule might just be worse than Vance'.
'Nadia." I call her with all seriousness. The quiet evening becomes quieter and suddenly nothing is sounding, not even the crickets, not the clock and not our breaths. 'Why did you run? Where did you run to? Who did you go to meet?" I ask all the questions slowly, because the only way I was going to repeat myself was over her dead body.
I can see her standing still and looking in my direction, her lips paused and in place, she does not even look like she is about to say anything.
'I swear by everything I value and treasure, which does not include you, that if one more minute goes by and you don't split your fucking lips and start talking, you'll join Vance wherever he is right now." I barked at her.
'Well if that is it," Nadia says, standing on one leg and lazyly swinging the other, 'I have to go to bed." She said so casually one would think we were having a fun conversation.
Just at that moment, I hear Vance call for a pack meeting.
His growl is so loud and could travel far into other pack territories. Something must be up.
Vance is not even supposed to be alive in the first place.
What the hell is going on?!
What the fuck went wrong?!
We all hear Vance's growl for the second time, louder and fiercer than the first.
I would have loved to mistake it for someone else's, but I am only too familiar with it.
All pack members must be assembling now.
My mind begins to run riot. What could be happening that Vance would summon a meeting at this time.
Today has been too eventful.
Starting off with the very horrible game we had to attend because Vance was sponsoring a club, to Nadia losing our baby, to her being attacked by certain greedy people I have unfinished business with, and then this emergency pack meeting.
Today has been a freaking roller-coaster ride that I can't wait to get off.
Nadia stops in her tracks, she was about walking out on me when we both heard it.
She froze but did not look surprised.
'What did you do?!" I howl at her as soon as her see her very annoying blank face remain without an emotion.
Our plans had fallen through, two in one day, and she does not look too bothered.
She looks quite pitiful with the injuries she has sustained and the little purple bags under her eyes from stress and loss of blood.
'I have no intention of hurting you Nadia, but I need you to say something." I reasoned with myself, that this might just be the one time that my fierceness would not solve my problems. 'Talk to me, Nadia. Do you exchange the bottle? Did you run back to get it from Tracy? Did you tell her the mission was aborted and she should not go ahead? Did you rat us out?" There are over a million questions I want to throw but those will suffice for now.
She looks at me, this time her eyes are red and I can see a little wetness settling on her eyelids. She does not move to dab them and slowly, one drops after the other.
We both know we do not have the time for this. I knew she was not going to talk, she knows we have to leave because disobeying the Alphas call except on certain unavoidable occasions is an offence deserving of capital punishment. I probably would just be stripped of my position, but I'd rather be dead than without a title.
'Let's go hear what Vance has to say." it's the only thing she says, her voice is shaky and even her steps are unsteady, but she gets up again and heads back the same way she just came.
I follow suit.
What a fucking day!
