"I just need a few minutes please,"

She stares at me understanding without me having to explain, "I know what you're doing" the tone of her voice changes to that of sympathy. I look at her and the frown on her face matches mine, "I don't think he's coming honey" and that's all it took for my frown to turn to complete crying. "Oh Silas I know," she comes to me sitting next to me as I cry "this isn't going to be easy but you have to put on a brave face."

"I can't"

"Yes, you can Silas we are Bensons we don't buckle under rejection we take it and we learn from it, right?" She waits for a response "right?"

I nod "ok so get up, shower, we'll have breakfast, and I'll drop you off on my way to work." "Can't I just stay home this one day?"

"Nope not an option, I'll see you downstairs in 20 minutes" she gets up

As she's walking to the door I say "you know I could just skip without you knowing, right?" Turning around with a smile "you could but you won't."

Leaving the house my mom locks the door as I wait for her, Paris walks out her house "oh god" I panic "let me back in I'm not going" I whisper to my mom

"Silas stop it!"

She walks down the steps and so does Paris "good morning Ms. Benson, hey Silas"

"Good morning Paris" she smiles as we walk down our path, and Paris is parallel to us walking her path to her car.

"Hey Silas I don't know if you want to but you could ride with me to school..." she stops next to her car saying to me, I look at my mom "if you want" she adds.

"That'd be great right, Silas?" No! This is weird "go ride with her honey I'll see you after school." Without a choice, I reluctantly walk to Paris's car getting in the passenger seat. The drive is quiet and

I try my best not to look at the girl my best friend would rather over me. I don't want to hate Paris

but I find myself blaming her for everything, "we have some time before school, want to grab a cup of coffee?"

"What are you doing?" I ask still not bothering to look at her

"Being nice." We get to the coffee shop near the school, after ordering our drinks we sit across each other. "I once had feelings for a friend

before," she starts "yeah um it got pretty bad to the point where the sight of them with someone else would ruin my whole day. That's how I knew you had feelings for Trevor, plus I knew you didn't

like me." I look up from my cup to see her smiling at me sadly while she continues, "you'd roll your eyes whenever I was around and make excuses to get away from us, or drag Trevor somewhere with you... away from me."

"Why didn't you take the hint?"

"I did. That's why I kept saying no when he would ask me out and why I blew him off. Granted, it wasn't fair to him when I bailed out like that. I wasn't trying to get in the middle, he's your boy. You know that, don't you?"

"Were you not a front row witness to the shit show yesterday? Trevor's never going to speak to me again"

"You know how I know that's not true?" "How?" I ask curiously

"He texted me last night, asked if I could make sure you got to school because he knows your mom

has to work, and he didn't want her to be late having to drop you off. That's all he said nothing more nothing less, and I didn't reply."

And I'm at fault for falling for someone so selfless? Even when he hates me he's thinking about me "I messed up."

"Yeah you did" she sips her coffee, "but I don't think you kissing him is what hurts him, it's the fact that you wanted to do it and you kept that from him."

"How do you know?"

She shrugs "I know best friends... and I may be the new girl but I'm not new to what's happening with you two"

"How do I fix it?"

"I don't have the right answer to that, I'd say talk to him but he'll probably just shut you out. Maybe just let him come around, that might be all you can do right now. When he is ready he'll come to you" that would be never.

"Thanks for the ride," I say as we get out of the car "Anytime. Let me know if you want a ride back after school" "Ok," we go our separate ways.

Avoiding my locker because it's close to Trevor's I walk to my first period which I also share with Trevor, finding a desk in the back I hide there hoping he won't show up, or no one will notice that we're not talking like we usually do which always disturbs the class.

Class starts and the teacher is calling for attendance but stops at Trevor's name when he gets no reply, looking up from his sheet he sees Trevor's desk empty "where's your better half, Silas?"

Shrugging "I-" as I'm about to answer he walks into class, and as much as I prepared to avoid eye contact with him my eyes land right on his, searching for answers to questions I want to ask but I won't. Not yet, anyway.

"Thanks for joining us Trevor you're late" he ignores the teacher's comment making his way to a seat far away from me. He looks worst than I do like he didn't sleep at all last night, and his hair is a mess hiding under his hat.

Spending the day avoiding me I don't see Trevor again till it's time to leave, he skipped all the other classes we had together. After school as I'm waiting for my mom, I turn to see him walking towards me, I panic the closer he got but of course, he just walks right past me to the parking lot. GO SAY SOMETHING! I watch as he gets away, following him to his car as he opens the back seat to throw in his backpack "was it that hard to see me?" I ask hoping to get something out of him. Shutting the car door he looks at me but instead of saying anything he walks around the driver side about to get in, "Trev please don't ignore me" I follow behind him "I'm sorry"
