"Dean?" Cooper asks surprised I'm at his door this late "what are you doing here?" "Why'd you quit?"

"How'd you get my address?"


"Snuck a peek on Haley's desk, now answer my question"

"Do you want to come in?" He steps aside, walking in he shuts the door.

I look around his place as he stands by the door "are you a hoarder?" I ask and he laughs


"No they're my parent's things I've been packing up their house and I'm not really sure what to do with their stuff."

"Do you need help?" "Don't we all?" "Why did you quit?"


"What's that in your hand?" He asks ignoring my question again

"Beer"

"Thank god I was running low" he takes the bag from my hand walking away "Why do you keep ignoring my question?"

"Because you think me quitting is your fault" Cooper unpacks the beer

"Isn't it?"

"No... but it was because of you" "What's the difference?"

Walking to me with 2 cans he opens one and hands it to me "I didn't really need the job I needed a fresh start, but it's too soon I wasn't ready." He heads for his couch leaving me behind... confused.

Turning around and taking steps towards him "none of that has anything to do with me" "I also quit because I like you and I don't like to work with people I like"

I chuckle and he smiles "like me? You've known me for 2 whole days"

"That's enough to know I like someone" he shrugs "right?" He sits down staring at his tv, I awkwardly stand there not knowing what to do with myself "are you gonna sit or..." he turns smiling

"You smile a lot for someone grieving" I walk over sitting next to him

"And you're kinda bitter for someone who probably hasn't lost both parents." With a smile still on his face "see I can be mean too."

I really don't know what I was expecting showing up at his house, I mean I got the answers I wanted so I should probably just leave, right?

"This is weird," I say out loud

"What is?" He focuses on the tv drinking his beer "Me showing up to your place this late"

"Why did you come so late?"

"I don't know Haley made me feel guilty about you quitting and I really didn't want it to be my fault-" "Even though it kinda was"

I stare at him watching tv and it's like I'm realizing what he was talking about, I like him and honestly I didn't want him to quit. "I wish you didn't quit" the words come out quietly as if I didn't want to say them

He turns to me "why so I could keep stepping on your toes?" "You heard that?"

"Haley's office is literally in the kitchen, it's like you wanted me to hear it." "I'm sorry you've only known me 2 days and that was your first impression"

We stare at each other and I try to focus my eyes on his and not stare at his lips but it's hard, he has a nice mouth. Is that even a thing? Can people have nice mouths? "Don't be sorry."

Oh god, I have to deflect I feel like I'm about to do something "I'm gonna grab another beer" I stand up walking to the counter taking one from the box.

Turning around I watch as Cooper walk towards me and he doesn't stop, he walks till he's standing in front of me and I'm against a wall with nowhere to run "your can is still full" he smirks catching my lie.

"I like to double fist."

He laughs "perfect response" taking the beer can from me he puts it down

"I'm proud of it" he's still so close if anything his lips were moving closer, but before they could do anything "are you about to kiss me?" Hi, my name's Dean and I'm the cringe king.

"Yes," he chuckles "should I stop?"

Say yes! You don't need this right now, ok but his eyes and lips though, what idiot would say no? Not replying I lean in meeting his lips, an innocent kiss won't hurt. Ok, I don't know what I was

worried about he's an amazing kisser, it's like I can feel how good he's making me feel in my

stomach. There's no slowing this down is there? His hands are pulling my waist closer and I bring my hands up to his face

Pulling me off the wall we kiss our way back to his couch and I lay down with him between my legs, yes they're wrapped around him, I can't help this. But I should, no matter how hot this is I can't sleep with him, pull away Dean, PULL AWAY!

"What's wrong?" He reacts to me stopping

Climbing from under him "I am not going to have sex with you" I fix my clothes standing up "We were gonna have sex?"

"Don't deny this," he sits up staring at me "but I'm not going to sleep with you because I like you and that'd ruin things."

"Okay?"

"I think you should go back to the diner tomorrow and talk to Haley about coming back" "Dean I told you-"

"I know but this is something new and I honestly think it'd be good, plus there's a shitty waiter there who loves putting his foot in his mouth who'd be happy if you came back."

"Is this playing into your guilt trip"

"There is no guilt-" his obvious eyes already know the answer "yes" "All right" he decides "I'll talk to Haley"

"You will?" I ask a little too excited and he nods "great" "Great so..." he stands up with a grin moving closer again

"I'm gonna- I should go before I can't stop this from happening" I rush for the door. "This was great

see you tomorrow bye" I walk out shutting the door.

"What did you do?" Haley stops me as I walk into work "I don't know but I'm gonna assume it's bad"

Taking my hand we walk to the back and she points to Cooper putting his apron on, "he quit yesterday then all of a sudden decides this is probably what he needs."

"Maybe he made a mistake" I shrug

"Or maybe someone did the right thing for once" she stares at me with a smile

"I don't know what you're talking about." We all get to work and Cooper and I stare and smile at each other but we haven't talked yet.

It's finally my break and I head to the alley for a breather, stepping out I see Cooper standing there "hey" he sees me

"No cigarettes?" I ask walking closer

"Nah I'm gonna quit, and you should too I can't kiss a guy with a hairy tongue no matter how much I like him."

"Leave my hairy tongue alone" I stand next to him "So are you happy?"

"What do you mean?" "I mean I came back"

"I guess" I look away "I didn't want you to do it for me though" "But I did, so now will you sleep with me?"

"What?" I turn back to him

And he laughs "kidding" he continues laughing "mostly." "How about we start with a date or something?"

"Okay" he agrees

"Cooper breaks over" Haley sticks her head out calling

"Thanks," he says to her then she goes back in. Turning to me as he's heading for the door "but I won't blame you if you do decide to sleep with me after one date, I know how much you like me" he grins walking in and I sigh.
