Dakota Earl is a 19-year-old quarterback getting everything he's dreamt about in college, the attention, the girls, and the friends. It all comes with the territory of being good, and he is the best. Dakota has worked hard to be the best, and it showed during his game tonight when he made the winning touchdown and the crowd ran to the field chanting his name, Earl 22.
"MVP IN THE HOUSE!!!" His teammate screams as Dakota walks into the party after his game, "HEY EVERYONE SHUT UP AND LOOK OVER HERE" he pulls Dakota handing him a beer preparing for a toast. "All right so everyone knows our team sucked ass before Earl joined last year, and since then we haven't lost a goddamn game. Brother" he looks at Dakota "because of your undeniable awesomeness tonight is all about you. All the beer you can drink, the wings you can eat, and the ass you can get! BECAUSE WE'RE TAKING THIS ALL THE WAY BABY!
EARL 22!!"
"EARL 22!!" They all yell and cheer hugging and patting Dakota on the back, he was basking in it all, how can you live down being the man?
As he walks around the party getting pats on the back and continuous congratulations, Dakota finally made it to the drinks table. Pouring himself a real drink he picks up the cup taking a sip. "This is a fun party" he hears and looks up from his cup "hi, congrats you played an awesome game tonight"
"Thanks" Dakota always keeps a smile on for the sake of others "You're welcome, I'm Syd" she reaches out"
"Dakota, nice to meet you" he shakes her hand
"I know who you are, Earl 22" she laughs "but it's nice to meet you too." Noticing her hands are empty "uh can I make you a drink or get you a beer?" "I'll take a drink"
"Ok" he sets his cup down grabbing one for her, "I'm not sure how to make drinks I just mix a bunch
of shit together until it tastes not bad." She laughs "ok"
Grabbing different kinds of alcohol Dakota pours a little bit of each mixed with juice than hands it to
her "be honest I can take it" She takes a sip "it's good" "Yeah?"
Syd nods "bit strong but I'm not complaining, thanks"
"You're welcome"
"You know if this football thing doesn't work out long term I think you might've found your backup plan"
"Oh yeah bartending is my regular gig, football is just a side thing" "Really well your side thing is paying off, you're an MVP."
"Very fun and pointless title."
Dakota and Syd spend the rest of the party talking, drinking, and dancing. When the night was over and they were both a little drunk, Dakota offers to walk her home. "So what are you doing after that win tonight?" Syd asks as they're walking
"Isn't it obvious? I'm going to Disney world" they both laugh. "No, but I don't know I guess enjoy my break before I have to come back to boring ass classes again."
"What is your major?"
"Still undecided for right now, but I'm thinking about changing it to something sport related so I can get time to focus on football more.
What about you?" "Photography" she answers "Really?"
"Yeah I know, spend money on expensive cameras and never find a stable job" she chuckles "that's
my future."
"I'll tell you what if I ever make it I'll hire you as my personal photographer, and no one else will ever be allowed to take my picture, just you."
"Oh my gosh you're so sweet" she stops when they reach her apartment. "You know I don't have a roommate and I got a whole studio set up if you wanted to practice that right now"
"Are you asking to take my picture?"
"No, I'm subliminally asking to sleep with you" Syd smiles "but sure I'll take your picture too"
"Wow ok" he nods agreeing "very compelling offer and I'm not just saying that for the free pictures, but I can't I kind of already have someone. Thanks though"
She smiles "you're so weird" "How?"
She shrugs "you're just not who I'd expect you to be but that's a good thing, you Dakota Earl are different."
"Thank you?" He's confused but takes it with a laugh
"You're welcome and thanks for the walk home" she kisses him on the cheek walking into her building.
