"Very cool" Garret it's the master of faking, especially how much this is eating him up inside because he knows the truth. Porter's Instagram told a summer-long story. How much time Porter and Elia went to the beach, their Milan trip, how in love they looked in every picture.
"Is Harper ready?"
"Yeah you can just go in," Garret looks down at his keys finding the one to unlock his car.
"See you at school?" Porter asks and Garret just nods turning to his car, pushing the button he unlocks it and reaches for the handle.
"Happy first day" Porter says
Turning back to Porter once he opens the car door, Garret replies "happy first day" then gets in. Sitting there he watches Porter walk to his house opening the door himself and going in.

Here's some more background on Harper and Porter's relationship, even though Harper is a year younger than her brother and Porter, she has been friends with him since middle school. He is her GBF and that makes Garret angry, Garret thought coming out would give him something to bond with his sister about, but she already had Porter so Garret being gay didn't phase her. What did phase her is the fact that her brother admitted to coming out because of his feelings for Porter. She doesn't want them to be together and she's always had this feeling that if he actually tried, Garret could steal Porter away from her.
So because he has no balls to actually be honest with Porter, and wants to please his sister, Garret keeps his mouth shut about his feelings.
The last 3 years of High School Garret has spent them with his A/V club friends doing morning announcements, filming dances, and
capturing everyone else's experiences while missing their own. Now it's his turn and any chance that arises he'll take it.
As they're setting up the cameras for announcements, Garret and his friend Reggie talk to each other "are you wearing new clothes?"
Reggie asks as he uncoils cables
"Maybe" he's decided to avoid that question since his father asked it, "listen I have an idea and I need you to tell me if it sounds crazy."
"All right"
"We should try to date this year," after Garret says that Reggie stops and they look at each other. "I mean we've never done anything and I
think I'm ready, I have to know what it's like."
"Are-" Reggie stares at him blankly "are you trying to ask me out?" "What!" Garret laughs and goes back to turning his camera on
"I mean Gar if you are I am the poster child for flattered but-"
"No Reggie" Garret smiles, "people! We should start putting ourselves out there and meeting people."
"Hey, are we ready? We only have half an hour to do this" the girl announcer says behind the shared desk. Finishing their set up Garret and Reggie put on their headphones and wait to give the signal to start. Sticking his fingers up from 3 Garret counts down to one, "goooood morning Meadow Wood Academy it's the first day back, how are we feeling?"
With only 3 classes a day, they were happening faster than he expected, it's already lunch and Garret doesn't feel like he's done much. Not expecting to see his sister and Porter in the lunchroom because they usually go off campus, he finds a seat alone waiting for the people he does talk to, to show up.
As he's eating at the lunch table alone, Reggie walks up to him sitting on the chair in front of him, they look at each other and Reggie says "I'm in."
After chewing, Garret asks "in what?" "Meeting people, not graduating virgins." "Not what I said"
"All right I'm adding that to it, you may not want to go that far but to me, I see it as I have a year to not be a virgin. So I'm in"
Garret realizes he's serious and asks, "ok where would we start?" "Porter Jackson" Reggie answers throwing Garret off.
"What?" Garret questions why Reggie would even say that name, the only person who knows about his feelings is Harper. "What about him?"
"I heard through the grapevine aka AP calc class that he's throwing a back to school party for seniors."
"No he's not" Garret scoffs, "I would've known if he was" "Why because your sister's his fag hag?"
"You don't get to say that!"
"You say it all the time!"
"She's my sister!" He continues to eat "and anyway you have wrong information because I'm telling you if there was a party I would've known." He ends the conversation there
With nothing to do on his free period, Garret walks the halls heading to the A/V room. Seeing his little sister at her locker Garret rushes up to her, "Harper!" He stops next to her and she doesn't bother looking at him
"What, geek?"
"Why does Reggie think that Porter is throwing a back to school party?" "Because we are," she answers carelessly
"What? Who's we?"
"We as in me and him, it was my idea." "You're not even a senior"
"So what? I'm friends with most of them," getting everything she needs Harper shuts her locker
"Why didn't you tell me? I'm your brother and I don't even get an invite?"
She sighs "we literally came up with the idea this morning, and Porter's doing the inviting not me." "But it was your idea, right? Shouldn't you get some say?" She shrugs "Harper what the fuck? Why
don't you want me there?"
"Look of course I'd invite you, it's just that an invite to you means all your loser friends too and-" "What?" Garret knows how his little sister is
"It's not personal, all right? If you can figure out a way to not bring them all then you can come." "Wow" he shakes his head, "what about just Reggie?"
"No!" She barks "especially not him, that guy stares at me all the time Garret and I don't need that at my party."
"I'll tell him not to, please Harper!"
"No I'm sorry" she's not though, "I got class all right I need to go." She walks away
"What if I told you I got the perfect senior gift for you to give to Porter?" Garret says getting his sister's attention enough to turn around.
