Sweet Aphrodite’s POV
I tightened my grip to Lennox. My face is pressed against his chest so I could avoid the harsh wind hitting us as he ran fastly.
I can hear his faint curses as he ran faster. I shut my eyes tightly and started praying for our safety. I love Lennox’s idea of living away from everyone. Just the two of us then our still unborn child.
I can imagine how simple and peaceful our life will be. When I wake up in the morning he is the first one to see. We will be together as we wake up and as we sleep. Few months after, there would be an additional to us, our baby. We will help him learn how to walk, we will be excited for his first word, and we will watch him grow. I don’t want anything but a peaceful and safe life for us.
Not like this, we are running away as if we have done something wrong. We are hiding and avoiding them. We deserve to be happy and secured. After all Lennox’s pain and struggles before, he deserves to be happy. And I am glad that I am his happiness together with our child.
My heart pounded when Lennox stopped running. My brows furrowed then I looked at his face which is now void of any emotion while staring in front of us.
“Lennox, what’s wrong?” I asked.
He didn’t speak that’s why I forced myself to look on what he’s looking at. My heart beat erratically in fear.
The witches found us. And they are big in numbers. It seems like they brought half of their population. My grip on Lennox tightened.
“Stop running away because there’s no way we would let you escape. Tonight is the moment for Aster’s resurrection. She’ll take over that body.”
The leader stepped forward. I can sense how powerful she is. Her aura is dominating and bothering but Lennox remained calm. He didn’t even flinch and there’s no hint of being intimidated.
“Please let us go. We will have our own family soon and I want a peaceful life for them,” Lennox gently said.
His palm gently brushed my arm, comforting me. And it’s effective when I felt the soothing effect of his touch.
“She’s pregnant?” Daniel asked out of nowhere.
Lennox nodded calmly then he secured his hold on me.
The woman clapped her hands a bit, looking genuinely happy. “That’s better and even best! There is an additional reason for my daughter to return.” She smiled widely. “She will be happy because she’s going to have a baby with you, Dark.”
I feel like my blood boiled hearing her words.
“For your information, this child is mine. Stop claiming everything from me!” I said in between my gritted teeth.
Her smiled faded then she stared at me with her sharp eyes. The wind blew harshly and my hair stood in chill.
“Soon, you will not be able to speak. Your soul will be thrown out from that body and you will wander around without any direction.”
I glared at her but I feel scared, too. I can imagine that and it looks lonely.
“Asria, just accept the fact that your daughter is already dead,” Lennox seriously uttered.
She smirked and shook her head.
“No. I will never accept that. I will do anything to help her come back in this world. Just give that woman to us, Dark, because this is her fate. She lived to take care of that body for our beloved princess.”
Lennox step backward and he shook his head. “I will never give her up and that’s certainly not the reason why she is alive. She is here because she was made to love me. That is it, stop your bullshit,” he uttered angrily then jumped high.
I immediately gripped on him when he started jumping from roof to another roof of houses and other buildings.
“No one else owns your body except us. Just you and me,” he whispered to me then he planted a kiss on my forehead.
I looked down and I saw the witches running behind us. My brows furrowed when I realized that they can now keep up on Lennox’s pace. Asria’s eyes became violet then she flew towards us. She began using magic and witchcraft.
Eyes widening, I looked at Lennox. His jaw clenched aggressively as he ran and jumped faster.
I looked to the direction he is going and suddenly, Asria appeared there, waiting for us. Lennox forced himself to stop and he was about to make a turn but we both realized that the witches are now surrounding us. Their hands are directed to us and their palms are glowing, ready to attack us.
Lennox gently put me down but he held my hand tightly. He scanned the witches one by one.
“Get that woman,” Asria commanded that they immediately followed.
Lennox’s grip tightened. Two witches went to us. The guy was about to touch me but he was immediately thrown away when Lennox punched him on his jaw. He also kicked the advancing girl towards me and she fell on the ground.
The other witches started attacking together when they realized that Lennox could fight. Lennox just held me as he punched and kicked their guts. Some were able to defend themselves but it didn’t last long because Lennox is stronger in physical combat.
When almost every one of them is already down, Lennox hugged me again then he jumped out the roof. Before we could even land safely, I heard him grunted in pain then we fell unsafe.
“Damn it!”
He protected me against the impact and he made sure that I am on top of him. I immediately touched my stomach and he glanced worriedly on that part. I gave him an assuring smile when I felt that it didn’t ache, even a little. Our baby is safe.
We helped each other to stand. His face twisted as if he’s in pain then he touched his back.
“Are you okay?” I asked him worriedly.
He closed his eyes tightly and heaved a sigh. “Asria is already using her powers,” he whispered then gazed on me.
We were about to start running again but Asria is already in front of us. Lennox immediately put me behind his back while holding me.
“Don’t try to fight against us, Dark. I know you are already weak. You can’t even teleport anymore. Now that your other half is gone, you’re weaker and you can’t fight any more like how you used to do,” she said mockingly. “Better give her to us so you won’t be hurt or worse, killed.”
I stared at Lennox’s back and I saw that his shirt was ripped and his skin is a bit burnt. I covered my mouth as I came up to the realization. The reason why we fell is because Asria attacked him!
And what did she say? Rage’s death affected Lennox strength?
“I won’t let Aster live, Asria. So better if you just give up and let us go,” Lennox said arrogantly.
“You killed her Dark and now you are taking away the chance to live again from the woman who loves you so much?” Asria said angrily.
“Yes because she doesn’t deserve it. And we are talking about my Sweet’s body that she wants to take over. You and Aster are a bit ambitious to claim my love.” His confidence is just oozing even I feel like we have no chance now.
Aster smirked but wrath is on her eyes. Her body is shaking a bit out of anger.
“Then you left me no choice.”
Silence filled my ear leading me to confusion. I glanced at Asria and I saw her victorious grin while staring at Lennox. Her hand has a glowing violet light.
I felt fear upon the realization that Lennox can’t move. I went beside him to look at his face. I can’t move freely because his hand is holding my wrist.
“Lennox…” I called him.
He is frozen on his spot. His jaw is clenched and his body can’t move. Only his eyes can move. Our eyes met and I saw that they are filled with hatred but it changed to worry when he saw me. I felt someone pulled me away from him but failed because Lennox frozen hand is holding me by my wrist tightly. I tried struggling against the witches who are trying to drag me.
“Don’t touch me!” I screamed.
I kicked them to keep them away but I was stopped by Asria slap across my face. It was so hard that I tasted my blood in my lips and my vision darkened a bit. I feel dizzy.
I felt them removing Lennox hand on my wrist but they failed. Asria was forced to make him move again.
“You fuckin’ moron. Don’t touch her!” Lennox shouted and his fist landed on the face of the guy who is holding me.
Two witches pulled me away from him while he’s not expecting it causing him to lose his grip on me. I am still gaining my strength back when Lennox froze on his spot again then he was caged inside a big bubble. Then we all vanished on the thin air and after a moment, we appeared on a familiar place.
The village of witches.
I gasped for air as I tried struggling but they succeeded on dragging me towards the slanted wooden cross. They tied up each of my hands and feet.
I feel like I am falling apart while I am watching them tying him up on the steel wall with the use of huge chains. Asria only unfreeze him again when he’s already restrained. Suddenly, the guys began punching and kicking him on a helpless state.
My eyes widened in horror. “Stop it! Please stop hurting him!” I screamed as I watched them beat him.
He can’t fight back not just because he’s chained but also there are witches who are holding his chained hand. My heart is breaking because of the scene. His face never twisted in pain. He never made any expression except on staring at me lovingly despite of the punches thrown to him.
“Lennox…” I cried.
He just shook his head then mouthed, ”Stop crying.”
I can’t. I can’t stop crying while I am seeing how badly hurt he is. Witches are selfish and they are the worst creature.
After a while, they stopped hurting him. He is kneeling on the ground with his head bent down. I can sense that he’s already weak and it is making me feel helpless.
“Baby…” I whispered.
He slowly raised his face and I cried harder when I saw how bad his situation is. There are a lot of blood and bruises marked his face.
“I love you,” I whispered and tried to smile despite my tears.
Smile crept on his lips and it is painful to watch how he tried to do it even he is in pain.
“I love you fuckin’ much, my Sweet…”
We are just staring at each other’s eyes as we found comfort from it but he suddenly start shaking aggressively and I realized that someone is electrifying him.
He screamed in pain. It sent shivers on my spine and I felt it on my gut. I saw the electricity flow through the chain then went directly to him. His scream went louder when they intensified the voltage.
“Lennox! Lennox! Please stop!” That is all I could say.
My heart shattered in pieces seeing his pain and misery. I closed my eyes when I can’t take it anymore. The agony in his voice is torturing me. It pains me a lot, knowing and hearing him in pain. I opened my eyes when he suddenly stopped screaming. They stopped electrifying him. He looks exhausted as he leaned his back on the wall. He tried to open his heavy eyes.
I sobbed when he smiled at me despite his pain. It is like he is assuring me that he is fine. And I realized something.
They like to slap on his face that Lennox is the bad side, that he is a pure evil. But the truth is, they are the evil. The witches has been hurting us—especially him.
How can a pure evil smile even when he is already hurting? It is them. They are the worst. Since then, it is one of them who started this war. They are selfish creatures who would do anything to get what they want, even if it means of killing someone innocent. And in the end, they go blind to their wrong deeds and would throw the blame to their victims.
From the start, they ruined him. They destroyed him then told him that he’s evil after he reacted. They call Dark Lennox evil, the man who wants nothing but a peaceful life especially now that we are going to have our own family.
He is just so sincere when he shared to me his entire plan. He was excited to build a peaceful life with me.
“Lennox, baby...” I whispered.
I cried harder when I realized that he is already too weak to even answer me.
