As Luke and Aric faced off, I stood there nervously. My heart raced and I was unsure what to do. They were both formidable in their own ways, and I didn’t know what to do. I had never expected to find myself in the middle of such a conflict, and I was worried for both of them. Even if I didn’t like to get married to Aric, I didn’t want him to get hurt.
Their words were sharp and filled with anger. Each accusation fueled the flames of their feud, and I couldn’t help but feel like an outsider witnessing a battle. I wanted to intervene in order to calm the storm that raged between them, but I knew deep down that I couldn’t do anything about it.
As the tension escalated, their fists clenched, and their bodies tensed in preparation for the transformation before the fight. I watched as Luke threw the first punch, and it connected with Aric’s jaw. The impact was strong and it reverberated through the air, and my heart almost skipped a beat as the fight began.
Aric retaliated swiftly, and he launched himself at Luke with a ferocity that didn’t surprise me. Blow after blow, they exchanged strikes, and their movements were a blur of strength and skill. It was a clash of two alpha males vying for dominance. They were both scary after they transformed into beasts but I couldn’t tear my eyes away even as my heart ached at the sight of their conflict.
The fight continued, and their bodies were bruised and bloodied, but neither was willing to back down. In that moment, I realized I couldn’t bear to see them hurt each other any longer, so I stepped forward and my voice trembled with emotion as I tried to stop them from fighting.
“Stop!” I cried out and my words echoed through the air. “Do you think that fighting will solve everything?”
Luke and Aric paused for a moment and their eyes locked on mine.
“Both of you, leave!” I ordered.
Aric looked at me in disbelief but Luke just chuckled as if there was something naughty inside his head. I frowned at him but instead of apologizing to me and to Aric, he just walked away as if nothing had happened.
“You have to leave, Aric. I am already tired,” I told him and he just stared at me, but I wished I didn’t see the sadness in his eyes. “I’m sorry but you have to leave now.”
“Can’t we go back to the times when you cared so much about me, Isabella?” he asked, and I was speechless for a moment.
“I don’t want to talk about the past, Aric.”
“But I don’t understand why we broke up when I did nothing wrong!”
“Are you sure about that, Aric? Are you sure that there’s no other woman?” I asked but instead of denying my accusation, he apologized instead. So, there was another woman and I wasn’t aware of it.
“I didn’t love her, Isabella,” he said and I looked at him in disbelief.
Did he just confess to his sin? That there was another woman? “You didn’t love her? Are you sure about that? So what did you do with her? Just having fun?”
“Yes.”
“Whatever. Just leave, for now, Aric. I will just call you when I am ready to talk about it,” I said, and fortunately, he understood, and prepared to leave.
As soon as he was gone, I walked toward my room and secured the door before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I had a long day so I needed to recharge my energy, and only sleep could help me achieve it.
The following day, I decided to take a break from training to visit Selene at the library. Luke wanted to come along with me but I refused, and I just reassured him that I would be alright.
Well, that’s what I thought, until I sensed danger when I noticed several people following me. Were they hunters as Selene told me? Were they already aware of my existence and wanted to eliminate me right away?
I was walking in an alley toward my favorite coffee shop when a woman in black clothing swung a sword in my direction. If Luke didn’t train me well, I wouldn’t be able to dodge the attack. Then, a man showed up with his ax, and they both attacked me.
They were strong, but I knew I was stronger than them. I snapped my fingers and unleashed my power. I thought it would end it that way but someone came and shot me with a crossbow.
Then, there were men who aimed their guns at me. Panicking, I looked around for an escape but there was nowhere safe for an escape. I was trapped, and I was outnumbered!
But my wolf was awakened and she took over. When I regained my senses, the fight was over, and the hunters committed suicide, or they were all killed. Instead of grabbing a cup of coffee, I went straight to the library to talk with Selene.
“Don’t be scared, Isabelle. You are strong and powerful but if you are worried about your family, you can stay with me. My place will be always open for you, and you can continue training there,” Selene proposed.
“I am not sure if it’s possible, Selene. As much as I didn’t want to harm my parents, I didn’t want to leave them on their own.
“By the way, what is your relationship with Luke Skywalker?” Selene asked out of nowhere.
“He is my mate,” I replied and she raised her eyebrow in response.
"And he's not aware of it?"
I shook my head in response because it was the truth. "He doesn't even like me, Selene. He just loves to flirt with me but I know better. He was just teasing me, or even making fun of me."
"Or maybe, he was just afraid to own up to his feelings. What do you think?"
