“You heard the lady, Aric. Let her go.”
I turned around and saw Luke walking toward us and he was frowning before he took my wrist away from Aric. While I was shocked at his action, Aric was bewildered as well as he glared at Luke.

“What did you do, Luke?” Aric asked angrily.
“You made her uncomfortable, Aric. Stop harassing the lady,” Luke warned Aric.
“Oh really? And what about you? When did you develop some interest in my girlfriend?”
“Ex-girlfriend, actually,” Luke corrected Aric. “And to answer your question, you knew I cared about her. You shouldn’t have hurt her feelings.”
“I didn’t!” Aric yelled, but before they could cause a commotion outside the library, I immediately placed myself between them.
“What do you think you’re doing? This is embarrassing,” I told them in a calm voice that was barely audible but strong enough to make them stop arguing.

“I’m sorry, Isabella, but why are you always hanging out with Luke?”
“Because I am comfortable with him, Aric,” I replied and only the Moon Goddess knew why I didn’t mention the fact about Luke’s job as my bodyguard.
“Comfortable? Are you serious? You don’t even know his real identity and you’re telling me you’re comfortable with him! Damn it, Isabella, are you in love with him?”
“Aric, just shut up! Why do you think that way? Just because you saw me hanging out with him means I am in love with him. Why? Can’t I hang out with people I want to be with?”

“So, you want to be with him,” he mumbled.
“I do,” I replied, and Luke gasped in the background. “Now, if you will excuse us, we have to go home.”
“Are you saying he lives with you now?” Aric asked in disbelief.
“Do I really have to answer that right now? Let’s go, Luke,” I said, and when I dragged Luke away from Aric, my hands trembled.
Fortunately, Luke didn’t try to be talkative on our way back home, and it seemed he understood why I remained silent throughout the drive. Then, as he pulled over in front of my Dad’s place, I took another deep breath.
“That was brave of you back there,” Luke commented as he assisted me to get out of the car.
“Was it? I didn’t mean to hurt his feelings, Luke, but I had do,” I replied.
“Isabella, listen. I also don’t understand why you had to distance yourself from Luke. I mean, I saw it with my own eyes that you are still in love with him. So why?”
“It’s a long story, but anyway, thank you for being there. Your presence made it easier for me to deal with him.”
“Anytime, sweetheart. You can use it however you want. I am all yours.”
When he said those words, I couldn’t help but look into his eyes. He seemed sincere but why would he say that to me? It was confusing! His real intention was confusing, and I was already confused on how to deal with my feelings for him.
“You should be careful with your words, Luke. Have you forgotten that I am already engaged?” I asked him and he just arched his brow in response.
“Why? Do you plan to honor that engagement?” he responded with a question.
“Of course not,” I confessed.
“Then, what’s the problem? Forget about the engagement and just focus on me,” he said.
“Ewww, you shouldn’t say that either!” I scolded him before walking away.
As I quickened my face to get away from him, I knew he was following me. Our rooms were close to each other, and Dad wanted him to be always near me as if Luke could protect me from everything.
But wait, did my father know about the prophecy or my future? Lately, he seemed preoccupied about something, and he even strengthened the security in the house. Aside from Luke, there were others who were guarding the place twenty-four seven.
“You’re back!”
I was startled when Vanessa suddenly blocked my way. She was holding a tray with fresh orange juice. Suddenly, I was thirsty as I stared at the glass. “Oh, hi Vanessa. Everything good today?” I asked in a friendly voice because, at this point, she had no idea what the future may bring.
“Yes. What do you want to have for dinner? Do you have any cravings?”
“Hmmm I’m not so sure about it, but do we have crabs and shrimps?”
“I think we have,” she replied.
“Good. Then we will have it for dinner. Since my parents are away, can you inform the staff that we will have dinner together? All of us. Can you do it?”
“Of course, Isabella. I will inform them right away.”
“Good. I will just be in my room to refresh, then I will be back. Will dinner be ready at seven?”
“Precisely,” she answered.
“Then, see you later,” I said as I returned the glass into the tray and bid goodbye to Vanessa before I went to my room.
However, before I could enter, Luke blocked my way. “What’s wrong with you?” I asked.
“Do you have some problem with the assistant? Your eyes say it all, Isabella. You hate her,” he claimed.
“Soon, she will try to seduce Aric,” I replied, but then it was already too late when I realized my mistake. “Anyway, never mind, I need to wash up now.”
After dismissing him, I went inside and locked the door, but of course, if he wanted to come inside without permission, I knew he could do it. Luke was not a regular werewolf, he was stubborn and reckless, so he wouldn’t mind to make me angry.
But just before I stripped my dress, I heard a knock. Knowing it was just him, I tried to ignore him, but he was persistent. So, in the end, he made me open the door, and right after opening it, he entered as if he owned the place.
“What is this behavior, Luke Skywalker?”
“Your eyes, and your hair, did you dye them again? Look in the mirror, Isabella,” he said and there was a hint of panic in his voice.
I knew that my eyes had changed earlier, and it was becoming a dark blue or even violet, but I was still shocked when I checked myself in the mirror. My hair had changed dramatically in just a few minutes!
“It’s white,” I mumbled and I was terrified to look at myself. Earlier, it wasn’t this white, but now, it has become so white, or even a platinum blonde.
“There’s something you are not telling me, Isabella. Your hair wasn’t like that when we were in the car,” he said.
So, he noticed but never said anything about it. Why? Was he scared that his question would make me furious? “It’s a secret,” I said.
“Damn it, Isabella! Tell me, or else –
“Or else what, Luke?”
“I will punish you with a kiss.”
