Luca Lombardo's POV
TW: disturbing content
Five months. Five months is how long I've been on the run from the fairies, the wolves, and whatever else is after me. While I couldn't have asked for a better situation to be on the run as I can avoid detection using my invisibility shield, it's not without risk.
Even though I knew of the demons' alliance with the Alpha of Fire Moon, I tried to go to the demons for help. But the new ruler, a bizarre demon named Balthazar who kept referring to himself in the third person, turned me down and told me if I came back to his world that I wasn't leaving alive. He must've made contact with that d**k Amos because suddenly there was an increase of Fae magic at Fire Moon and I almost was detected once. I left and laid low in Mexico for a couple of months.
When I came back to the States and to Fire Moon, try as I might I could not penetrate Fire Moon's magic barriers. It irritated me to no end. I so very much enjoyed watching my doll Tessa Morse on her day-to-day activities. Jealousy coursed through me each and every time I saw her with her mate and how happy they are together. I finally understood why that dummy Brent Serrano was so crazy about her. Watching Anthony bring Tessa to orgasm was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. How I hate Anthony Starr for being the one to give her such ecstasy!!
Jealousy is something new to me. I rejected my fated mate when I was nineteen, some Omega b***h who was barely eighteen. I will never forgive the Moon Goddess for mating me with that thing! That little Omega really thought fortune had finally smiled on her mousy a**, until I immediately rejected her. She carried on so much about it that I hauled off and killed her. I banished her family when they started raising hell about how she died.
Sometimes, I long for those days when Alphas could do whatever they wanted to do. Back when there were no consequences at all.
There is no room for weaklings in my world. My mate must be of ranked blood, she must be fierce and beauty is an absolute necessity. Many a woman have been mine since that mouse, though I've had little use for them other than bedding them.
That day in Georgia when I had Tessa just in the palm of my hand has never left me. How even though she was terrified, Tessa still spit in my face and looked at me with rage and contempt. It took everything I had in me then to keep from tearing her clothes off and ravaging her right then and there.
One day, Tessa Morse will be mine. Anthony Starr will be no more. And those special babies are going to be ours to raise together. But in the meantime, I must figure out a way around Fire Moon's magic barriers.
My source at the pack has no knowledge of the magic that surrounds Fire Moon and is only there to apprise me of any changes in Tessa or Anthony's activities. I am certain King Arlen is behind the magic. If I can't break through it, another witch will not be able to either.
I decided to visit my Aunt Desdemona for guidance and made my way to her home in Georgia. Perhaps she knows of a way to get through Fire Moon's barrier. She has been in hiding since King Arlen scarred her face and seldom goes out anywhere. Her home, an old abandoned relic in the swamps outside Valdosta appears inhabitable. But her magic has made it her sanctuary. I entered her home and looked around, seeing a shadow standing on the foyer above me.
"You took a big risk coming here!" The scarred face of my aunt snarled at me.
"The biggest risks I've taken in my life have had the greatest rewards." I smiled at her. My aunt was the most beautiful of our kind once. With her glossy mahogany hair and dark brown eyes, she turned many a man's head. Now, many run from her. Desdemona wears a thin veil over her face to cover her scars.
I may be reviled by ugliness in general, but I deeply pity my Aunt Desdemona. F*****g Arlen is a cruel savage for doing this to her!!
"So what do I owe the pleasure of your company?" She asked as she descended the steps.
"What if I told you there is a chance your face can be fixed?" Suddenly I was thrown into the wall across from her.
"I'd say you lie, nephew! That piece of s**t used the worst kind of magic you can use! BLACK DUST!" Desdemona hissed before she dropped me to the ground.
"What if I told you there are new faewolves at Fire Moon?" Desdemona raised an eyebrow at me.
"I know of the one. But are there others??" She asked.
"The children of Anthony Starr and his wolf mate. I hear from my source they are quite special indeed." I told her.
"How old are they?"
"They're about six months old." Desdemona slowly smiled.
"And they're pure-blooded hybrids? Not a creation like Starr's older half-breed daughter is?" She asked me.
"Not that it's relevant, but the young lady is now the Luna of another pack. And here's an even bigger surprise. The boy infant is very special, marked by the Moon Goddess herself so I hear!"
"How do you know this!?"
"My source told me that the child has different colored eyes. Blue and green." Suddenly Desdemona was up, a smile on her grotesque face.
"That kind of eye color difference is given to only healers! Goddess be thanked, that child is a pure healer!!" Desdemona clapped her hands.
"Desdemona, if all you need is a faewolf with healer properties, why don't we just capture the Luna of Midnight Moon? She is a healer and once even brought someone back from the dead." I countered, remembering what my source at Fire Moon had told me.
"She isn't a pure hybrid, she was made into one. Since the children came from a pure wolf and a pure fairy, this boy child has powers beyond resurrection and instant healing. He can heal any scars, no matter how old they are!!!" Desdemona yelled in sheer happiness.
"I must have him!" She rasped out emotionally and grabbed me with desperation. I took her hands and kissed them, knowing I've got one of the most powerful witches in the world on my side.
"And you shall. But we have a problem, Auntie dear. You see, Fire Moon is surrounded by fae magic! I cannot penetrate it whatsoever and I cannot risk going there any longer!"
Desdemona let me go and crossed her arms, eyeing me carefully. "That is a conundrum. Do you know who is commanding the magic?" Desdemona asked me.
"I assume King Arlen due to the strength of it." I told her. Desdemona closed her eyes and began to chant, but within seconds she was thrown back against the wall.
"Damn it all! He's always one step ahead! I can't break through!!" Desdemona kicked a chair over and huffed petulantly.
"Why can't we get through his magic?!" I asked her curiously.
"Because that son of a b***h is the Fae King. His power and magic come directly from the Fairy Goddess herself! He and his magic are untouchable!! Nephew, I hate to tell you this but we're going to have to jump through a lot of hoops. This Alpha of Fire Moon. What do you know about him?" Desdemona asked.
"Amos Rainwater is ruthless. Years ago he challenged my good friend, his uncle Honi, and ripped him apart! Not only is he a b*****d, he is shrewd. When I got appointed to the Council, I tried like hell to get him removed as an Alpha but the other Council members just adore him!" I grumbled sarcastically to her.
"Are the two Faewolves that were just born of any rank?" Desdemona asked.
"Amos promoted their mother Tessa to Gamma when Starr's daughter and her husband took over Midnight Moon. Tess is third in command along with Anthony Starr, though my source told me he doesn't interfere in pack matters much." I laughed.
"Why would he? He's a Fae! Did she become a Gamma before she had the babies?" Desdemona asked.
"No, but she was Delta when she became pregnant." Desdemona nodded in understanding.
"Their rank is of no consequence as they're pure Faewolves and were not created into one like Starr's daughter. It's going to take time and much patience to get those children and for you to claim their mother. I think I know someone who can help us, but that's a big IF!" Desdemona closed her eyes and within seconds, an elderly gentleman with gray hair and piercing blue eyes appeared in front of us.
"Witch Ruler! To what do I owe your summoning?" The man asked us.
"Roman Esperanza, you are a wizard. One of the best in existence. Tell us how you penetrate a Fae magic barrier." Desdemona commanded him.
"Witch magic is strong enough to break through any magic barrier....wait a minute. Just who is the Fae that has created the barrier you wish to break!?" Roman shouted at us.
"The Fae King himself!" I snarled and Roman gasped.
"NO!!!! The two of you are not about to get me killed!" Roman tried to disappear but I hurled my magic at him and froze him in place.
"TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW OLD MAN!!" I growled and emitted my vapors from my hands.
"I don't know anything! If the Fairy King created that barrier no one can get through it!!" Roman strangled out. I brought my vapor right up to his eyes and motioned to Aunt Desdemona to drop her veil. She did and Roman gasped in horror.
"THAT is what the Fairy King did to this woman all because she failed to divulge what HE deemed relevant information!! He has declared war against our families and we must stop him. He WILL do this to others including YOUR KIND!! King Arlen has abused his power for far too long! YOU MUST TELL US HOW TO STOP HIM!!!!" I screamed in Roman's face.
"If I knew how to break through the King's magic, I'd tell you. But there are only a handful of wizards still in existence. We cannot afford to go up against the Fairy King. He and the Faes will eradicate us all!! If your intention is to try and recruit me into battle, kill me now!!" Roman snarled at me.
I rolled my eyes. "As you wish!" I hurled my vapors at the old man and within seconds, Roman Esperanza's bones dropped into a pile on Desdemona's carpet.
"Was that really necessary?!" Desdemona shouted at me in terror.
"That old man was useless! You heard him he'd rather die than help us! I saw the gears twisting in that geezer's eyes. He was going to sell us out to Arlen anyway!!" I yelled at her and sat down, exhausted from using my power. I thought long and hard about how we can get through that barrier and get to the faewolves. And make Tessa mine.
And just like that, I had something. "Auntie dear, if something were to somehow weaken the great King, would that weaken his magic?" I asked Desdemona slowly.
"It's an interesting theory. It happens with our kind all the time. Our magic is always weaker when we are weaker or burdened. But what would weaken Arlen? He has no mate, and he has no family!" Desdemona told me.
Patience has never been my virtue. But I've waited five months now. I can sit back and bide my time until I find out just what or who can weaken the Fairy King.
