The moment Emily pushed the door open, all eyes in the room turned to her.
Everyone in the company knew she was the boss's unforgettable former Luna.
Daniel himself was frozen in his chair.

His heart seemed to stop.
He didn't dare to blink, afraid that this was just a hallucination and that she would vanish in the next second.
It wasn't until Emily confidently took a seat at the table that he realized this was real.
The person he had spent four years dreaming about was finally back.
Emily's gaze lingered on Daniel for only a second before she offered a polite greeting.
"Mr. Blackwood, it's been a while."

The formal address was a dagger to Daniel's heart.
In the four years since she had left, he had imagined their reunion a thousand times.
Maybe she would still be angry.
Maybe she would refuse to see him.

He had never imagined she would be so distant, so cold.
Throughout the meeting, Daniel barely spoke, his eyes fixed on Emily.
Emily, on the other hand, was completely in her element, expertly finalizing the details of their collaboration, completely unaffected by his presence.
After the contract was signed, the others in the room tactfully made their exit.
Emily picked up her bag, ready to head back to her hotel.
But Daniel's voice stopped her.
"Emily, don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
His voice was trembling slightly.
Emily sighed internally.
She knew this was coming.
There was no avoiding it.
She turned to face him, her tone calm and detached.
"Mr. Blackwood, our bond was severed four years ago. I don't believe I owe my ex-mate any updates on my life."
Seeing her so composed, the ever-proud Daniel's eyes turned red, his voice thick with emotion.
"But I never agreed to sever the bond!"
Emily gave him a strange look.
"Mr. Blackwood, I was the one who was rejected. You were the one who drafted the agreement. And you were the one who signed your name first. Are you telling me that doesn't count as agreement?"
Her words left him speechless.
It was true. He was the one who had proposed the rejection, the one who had signed his name without a second thought.
All he could do was offer the same pathetic excuse he had repeated a thousand times.
"It was supposed to be a fake rejection. I never, ever wanted to actually separate from you."
Daniel was still the same, always speaking in empty, meaningless words.
Emily had no desire to get entangled with him again. Her focus was solely on her career.
"Regardless, the fact is that our bond is over. It's been four years, Mr. Blackwood. You should move on. Don't dwell on the past."
The woman whose eyes once held nothing but love for him now looked at him with only cold indifference.
A sharp, stabbing pain shot through Daniel's heart.
He spoke, his voice hoarse.
"Emily, I know I was wrong."
"I shouldn't have taken your love for granted and run around with other women. Please, forgive me. I promise, from now on, you'll be the only one."
Emily didn't regret the seven years she had spent with Daniel.
They had shared real, beautiful memories. There had been love.
But that love had eroded over time.
She, Emily Vance, was someone who could let go.
She had long since moved past his betrayal.
"Mr. Blackwood, there's no need to bring up the past."
"I hope that, from now on, we can simply be business partners. I don't want any further interruptions in my life."
