Scarlett scowled at me, her voice icy:
"That night? The hotel only had one room left! We were just sharing. Two separate beds! Discussing the script!"
"Do you actually believe that?"

I stared back coldly, then snorted.
"You two were just chatting innocently in that room. Pure as snow."
Scarlett yelled again, "Jason Williams! Clearly, I've spoiled you rotten! Made you think you can act like this!"
"For some made-up scandal, you want a divorce?!"
"I order you to apologize right now—"
Before she finished, I slapped her hard across the face—twice.

"You think youdeserve an apology?"
I pulled out the divorce papers I'd prepared for a month:
"Sign them. Let's end this cleanly."
My gaze held no affection, only detachment.

Scarlett was livid. She called her executive agent, Benjamin Thompson:
"Slap some sense into him! Watch him. Make him kneel by the door all night. See if he dares act 'spoiled' again!"
Benjamin was strong. I couldn't fight back, forced to endure.
Luckily, Scarlett was probably just raging. Soon, she signaled Benjamin, took Liam, and left. Benjamin awkwardly let me go, muttered an apology, and followed.
I wasn't sad. Wasn't hurt.
Actually, I was thrilled. Scarlett was so furious she forgot we had security cameras.
Evidence delivered to my doorstep? I wasn't turning it down.
If Scarlett refused a clean break, I'd drag us all down.
I waited for the two snakes to crawl back begging.
...
Scarlett, Liam, and I trended.
A leak: Best Actress Scarlett Davis secretly married for eight years.
Liam was the homewrecker, breaking up a marriage.
Three pictures accompanied it.
First: An intimate photo of me and Scarlett.
We looked young, clearly an old photo.
The leaker kindly blurred the civilian (me).
Second: Me, looking desolate, standing aside while Scarlett and Liam embraced and kissed.
Third: A recent photo – the day we had dinner together, me, Liam, and Scarlett.
Solid proof. Top trending hashtag.
"Holy shit! Confirmed! Never pegged Liam for that."
"Poor civilian dude! My heart breaks for him."
"Trash humans deserve each other. Lock them up."
"Told ya! First glance at Liam screamed 'dirtbag'."
...
Scarlett's rivals pushed hard. Malicious rumors spread like wildfire, threatening to drown her and Liam.
I checked my bank balance and smirked.
Selling dirt on a top actress and rising star paid well. No wonder people became paparazzi.
My phone pinged.
"Jason, pack a bag. I'm picking you up."
Scarlett.
Me: ?
It had been a while since the divorce demand, her rage-fueled order for Benjamin to abuse me. We hadn't spoken.
How could this woman think, after that humiliation, we could talk normally? I decided to see what she wanted.
Discreetly, under cover, I got into Scarlett's Porsche.
Glancing up, I noticed her dark circles and bloodshot eyes.
Liam was in the passenger seat.
I stayed silent.
Scarlett spoke first, forcing a smile: "How... how have you been? I've missed you."
Psychopath, I thought, but my voice was flat:
"Ready to sign the papers today?"
My coldness darkened her expression: "Is this really necessary?"
