BLAKE’S P.O.V
It had only taken a few days to get things in order and those few days were the longest of my life. Every passing second felt like an hour and it took all my self control to not just barge onto their pack but I knew that if I was going to make this work then I needed to do it once and do it well.
“I think this is a bad idea,” Sam drawled. We were in a small tent in the woods. She hadn’t wanted to come with me at first, but I trusted her more than the others which was horrible considering I couldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her. “I don’t trust your source. Besides, this is Alpha Kaden we are talking about. He will come here first.”
“I can handle Kaden,” I spat and although she went silent, I could tell she still didn’t agree.
I looked around taking in everyone’s faces and I could see that they all agreed with her. I know Kaden is powerful, I had spent all my life hearing about the notorious Alpha Kaden but I had an advantage. I had his cousin. I could slip in and get Amelia and no one would be the wiser. They just lacked faith in me but I was going to prove them wrong. I was going to show them.
My phone rang thankfully snapping me out of my thoughts. One glance at the caller ID had the corner of my lips pulling up into a smirk. “You are all dismissed.”
I waited until they disappeared before I answered the call. “Talk to me, Aiden, and you better have good news.”
“Amelia is in the pack house with Clara. You shouldn’t have any issues with Clara. She is easy to distract. Harm the birds and you harm her.”
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“It doesn’t have to,” he said simply. “There are two roads back to her place. She usually takes the one that goes through the woods. It is shorter but also quiet. You have approximately fifteen minutes to do whatever it is that you want. I’ll cause a distraction at the pack house and you can take her.”
“You have been of good help, Aiden. You will be rewarded,” I hung up before he could say anything else and turned only to find Sam watching me carefully. I made sure to keep my expression neutral. “What do you want?”
“I want to tell you that this is absolutely insane but I understand why you’re doing this,” she made her way over to me and trailed her nails down my arm. “Just don’t forget me while you’re at it.”
I hummed. “Once I have her, you will return to the pack. Am I understood?”
She rolled her eyes playfully. “I know the plan, Blake. You don’t have to remind me.”
We waited at the edge of the road for their car. According to Aiden, everything was going fine. It only took five minutes before I saw them driving down. Whoever was driving was speeding, fast. I nodded towards one of my guards, he was already in wolf form. He rushed out into the middle of the road and I heard a scream as the car skid to a stop and slammed into a tree.
Our fifteen minutes had begun.
I nodded to Sam who kissed me. “Good luck, Blake. I’ll see you back home.”
She winked at me before running off. I knew I was on limited time. I rushed over to the car, relieved when I saw that Amelia was in the passenger seat. Blood was dripping from the side of her head but other than that, she looked fine. The other girl who I assumed was Clara was unconscious, her head was resting against the steering wheel and I was relieved to see that she was still breathing.
I cut Amelia out of her seat belt and threw her over my shoulder. She mumbled some words under her breath but she was too out of it to even realize what was going on. Taking the syringe I had kept in my pocket, I injected it into her arm. It was going to keep her knocked out for half an hour, long enough for me to take her far away from here.
Without looking back, I ran. Aiden had given me clear instructions on how to get out of the pack undetected. A part of me didn’t believe that his path would work until I was out of the pack. It almost seemed too easy. I should have been worried or concerned but I was just relieved that Amelia was finally mine again after so long.
The car was waiting just where I had asked Sam to keep it. After checking Amelia for any phones or anything that could be used to track her, I tossed her into the trunk before high tailing it as fast as I could. I wanted to return home but I knew that was the first place Kaden would check. I needed things to die down first. I needed to make sure that Amelia and I were strong enough to withstand Kaden, strong enough to forget everything that he has done to her so far. I needed to remind her just how good we were together.
The drive took a little over twenty minutes. She was still knocked out when I got to the cabin. It hadn’t been used in a while. I only found out about the location when combing through Gregory’s stuff. I wasn’t sure what he had used it for but in his notes, he mentioned how nobody knew it existed and I knew it was perfect for me.
Over the past week, I had stocked it up on food and toiletries. I carried Amelia into our room, feeling relief that we were finally going to be together. I needed to make sure she woke up feeling better so I took a warm wash cloth to clean up the blood from the side of her face.
“Beautiful,” I whispered as I cleaned her up. I noticed some dried blood on her neck so I pushed her shirt to the side to clean it only to come face to face with something I had not bargained for.
Aiden hadn’t told me anything about it. according to him, Amelia and Kaden were having problems but what I was seeing didn’t look like a sign of a couple that was having issues, except he forced it on her. That was the only logical explanation because there was no way that it was on her. I reached out trying to see if it would wipe of but it didn’t- of course it didn’t.
It wasn’t just any stupid stain, it was a fucking mark.
