AMELIA’S P.O.V
I got a text from Kaden the very next day saying that everything had been handled and I was freaking out. It had been so long since I was in the immediate vicinity of my father and I was unsure of how to react. I was worried that he would somehow realize I was there and try to find me. I was worried that my entire life would blow up in flames. I could barely breathe or string together a sentence.
I got the message in school and I immediately began to panic. Serena had no idea what was going on but she helped me into the car and drove me to Clara’s house. I wouldn’t give her my phone to call Clara for fear that she would see the message but there was no need because by the time we got to the house, Clara was pacing on the doorstep.
“Is she okay?” she asked Serena who shrugged. “Thank you for bringing her, I can take it from here.”
Serena wasn’t so quick to relinquish her hold on me. “Are you sure? She might need an extra hand. I wouldn’t mind waiting to make sure that she-”
“Thank you for your help but I can take it from here,” it was a clear dismissal and Serena knew it because she nodded and quietly left.
Clara led me into the house and I was about to ask why she was against Serena coming into the house when I realized why. Kaden was in the living room pacing and running his hands through his hair so much that I feared he would pull it out from the roots. When he saw me, he let out a sigh of relief and ran his eyes over me for any obvious signs of injury.
Clara and Caleb were also in the room and they were glancing at me with worry but they excused themselves once they realized I was in safe hands with Kaden. Caleb walked out the door while Clara went into her room to give us a semblance of privacy.
“What are you doing here?” those were the first words I uttered since getting the message from Kaden. “Were you waiting for me?”
“My wolf felt your panic and he made me run over here,” he explained and I could not verbally explain what hearing those words did to me. “What happened to you? Did Lucy say something to you?”
I shook my head. “She wasn’t even at school today. It was the message you sent. I was just worried about being in the same room with my father. It was nothing. I am sorry that I bothered you.”
“You did not bother me,” he cut me off. “If you don’t want to be there then you do not have to. I just want to make sure that you are somewhere safe because I do not trust that boy. I and find another place for you to stay.”
“No,” I waved him off. “I just need a while to come to terms with it. I will be fine by tomorrow. I don’t have to see my father, right?”
“He will not even know you are there, no one will.”
Kaden closed the gap between us and stroked my cheek in an affectionate manner. I allowed myself to lean into his hold and bask in his warm embrace. It was hard to find comfort in another person but I found it so easily in Kaden. I could always count on him to make me feel safe and I didn’t know if it was the mate bond or if it was something else.
“Do you want to go somewhere?” he asked and my brows scrunched. “There is a spot that I know you will love. I’ll be here around eight to pick you up. Is that okay?” I nodded. “Everything will be fine, just relax while I set things up, okay?”
I was too stunned to utter any words so I just nodded and watched him leave. Once the door shut behind him, Clara came out again. This time, I knew she didn’t eavesdrop because of her expression. There was something there that told me there was more to what she wanted to say than whatever Kaden had said to me,.
“What is it?” I asked her and she pulled out a folded piece of paper. I could see my name written over it in Blake’s cursive font. I took it from her and ran it over my fingers. “How did you get this?”
“The mailman dropped it off. There was no return address. It was put in an envelope with this address on the top and before you ask, he doesn’t know who dropped it off.”
I tore open the letter and this time it was just one sentence. One sentence, six words but it was enough to almost send me into a panic. I knew that if Kaden saw this then he would freak out. His reason for worry was justified because Blake had just proven him right. Blake was planning to see me during the meeting. I was not safe at Clara’s house.
His note read: I cannot wait to see you.
KADEN’S P.O.V
I had no idea what to do for Amelia. I had spoken rashly because in that moment, I wanted nothing more than to calm her down. When I got to the office, the first thing I did was call Caleb into my office. He looked worried as he walked in because I had told him that it was an emergency. When I finally told him what the problem is, he burst out laughing.
“You called me over here to find a date spot for your girlfriend?” he asked in between fits of laughter. “I have never seen you this strung up over anyone. You like her.”
“Of course I like her,” I rolled my eyes. “Now, are you going to help me or not?”
We spent the next few minutes going over things we could do at night but none of them seemed like things Amelia would like. We were about to give up when Caleb made a dismissive statement that was just the right thing.
“You could just take her to watch the stars or something,” he shrugged.
“You are brilliant.”
He was shocked but he puffed up his chest in pride. I had a lot of work to attend to so I sent him off to organize everything while I rounded up at the office. I needed to be out by six so I could go over the things he did before changing and finally going to pick up Amelia.
I was almost done with my work when someone walked in. I knew instantly that it was Lucy and I had to holy myself back from groaning. Ever since I found out what she did to Amelia, I found it hard to be in her presence. I wanted to hurt her for hurting Amelia and I wanted so badly to put her in a place but Amelia had pleaded and I told her I wasn’t going to do anything.
“I know you’re busy but I was wondering if maybe we could have dinner together later. I know you haven’t eaten anything all day,” she began slowly. “You’ve been very distant from me lately and I was hoping we could rectify that.”
While she was talking, I gathered my things and walked out. I saw the hurt and anger on her face but I couldn’t bring myself to care. I was not in the business of catering to feelings and I was not going to start then. I had more important things to handle- Amelia.
I was at her door by eight and she was dressed in a beautiful floral dressed that brushed over the middle of her thighs. Her hair was tied up into a ponytail and secured with a bow behind her head. She looked absolutely breathtaking and I almost fell to my knees at the sight of her. I held her hand in mine as I drove and I couldn’t help but marvel at the size difference.
When we got to the spot at the top of the cliff, her eyes were wide and alight with shock. I laid out blankets where we lounged with snacks to keep us company. I could tell that she loved it and it gave me a sense of pride to know that I was responsible for the smile on her face.
She lay next to me with her body pressed up against me and it had all the blood rushing to my dick. I wanted her but I wasn’t going to rush her so I settled for placing my hand on her thigh and rubbing slow circles over it. It only took a few seconds of that to have her squirming in her spot. At first, I thought it was discomfort then I smelled it- her arousal.
It was soft and feminine and all her. I knew if I just reached up, I would find her wet and as much as I wanted to- I couldn’t. I knew Amelia and I knew that if I did that, she would pull away and possibly close up from me. She needed to be coaxed into things and walked into it slowly.
I became hyper aware of her presence next to me and the fact that she we were pressed up arm to arm. I turned on my side to look at her. I had one hand under my chin to prop my body up while the other lay carelessly on her knee. She squeezed her thighs shut at the simple action and bit down on her bottom lip.
“The stars look beautiful tonight,” she said in a desperate attempt to change the subject. Her cheeks were stained a light pink. “There are so many of them out. Is it always like this?”
“There are always stars out, Amelia,” I teased trailing my leg up higher and her breath hitched in her throat. “Are you alright? Is there something wrong?”
We both knew I was teasing her because her cheeks heated and she looked away.
“You know what’s wrong?” she mumbled and I laughed.
I pulled my hand off her leg and turned her to face me. Our eyes clashed and I could see the need buried in hers. She was trying to hide it but I could see it.
“You don’t ever have to mince words with me, Amelia. If you want me then all you have to do is say it?” I leaned down so my lips brushed over hers. “What do you want?”
She stayed silent. I knew she was embarrassed. She wasn’t used to navigating such terrains and I knew it was not in her nature to ask for things like that. I stroked her cheek softly making my fingers linger on her neck.
“Amelia, baby, what do you want?”
“I want you to kiss me.”
The words had barely left her lips before I did as she asked.
