Things were really going well for us and somehow, we'd managed to build a pack that didn't even know it was a pack yet.

It was funny really.

Grey unconsciously started directing people on how to divide the various dishes properly after Hera had blessed the meal.


'If I were to become Alpha of this pack or when I get my original pack, will you be my beta?"

'No." I refused instantly.


Xander looked at me curiously, 'why not?"

'I nominate Grey for the position. He's a natural leader that sees you as his leader. This pack and your original one will be made up of these men and they already see Grey as your second in command."

'You think they don't see you that way?" Xander's brow rose.

I let out a small laugh.

'Even if they do, I'll actually prefer to be your general or a tutor for the soldiers. Leading everyday is not really my thing."

'Okay. I won't try to persuade you but if you change your mind before everything is finalized, tell me."

'Alright Alpha."

Leila leaned forward to look at me.

'What are you two talking about? This is not the time to discuss serious issues" she reprimanded, turning her gaze to Alpha Xander and back to me.

'We're not saying anything serious…" Xander answered as he began stroking her cheek, '... Liam is just telling me his decisions on the beta position."

'You don't want to do it."

It was not a question. Sometimes it was scary how much she knew me.

'Yes also, this food is really good."

Leila beamed, 'thank you. Madam Kimmy helped but it was mostly me. I wanted to do something for them."

'You've already given them a fruit forest that will soon have small creatures but, thanks for this too."

Hera sat beside me while Leila nodded.

'It is not a good idea to eat tiny bits from a lot of people. I'm stuffed."

'That's sad. I guess I'll have to share this scones I made for you. I can…"

'I never said I couldn't eat!!" Hera said cutting Leila off.

Leila frowned, looking worried but her eyes showed her amusement.

'Are you sure? It will not be fun getting sick later."

'I know my body, now give me."

We laughed as Leila passed the small basket to her.

Hera's love for scones was unrivaled in the whole village. It was cute to watch her talk passionately about scones sometimes.

Lunch went on without any incident. Laughter and compliments filled the air.

The way the fire danced in the fireplace was beautiful and captivating.

Watching the fire dance helped me relax, ponder on the decisions I made in the day and think.

Will it profit us to wait for Antonio to find us or to take the fight to him in the form of an ambush? We really had nothing on him concerning his recent activities. What was he up to?...

Someone knocked.

Everyone had gone to their houses to rest. It was late already, did something happen?

I opened the door and saw Hera.

'Hera? Come in."

She entered after I made space.

'What's wrong? Did something happen?"

'No…"

I noticed her tighten her grip on the blankets that was wrapped round her body.

'Okay…" she was behaving weird, '...why don't you sit."

'... what do you think of me Liam?"

Since when did she call me by my name?

'Liam?" I asked sounding as suprised as I felt.

'Just answer the question please."

'Will you tell me what this is about if I do?"

Hera nodded.

'I find you charming. Your beauty and wits captivates me, leaving me in awe most of the time. The way you are empathic with the villagers is heartwarming and I find your ridiculous love for scones cute."

There was a…blush on her face.

'Hera?"

'...I don't know any other way to say this so I'll be straight forward."

'Okay."

She took a deep breath. I was beginning to suspect that she was nervous but, Hera was bold so I wasn't sure.

'I want you Liam."

I blinked totally surprised. Never had I imagined this type of conversation with Hera.

I remained silent.

'I know that you may have a mate out there but I don't care about that. You are the first person to make me feel like this in a long time and I want to explore this feelings with you. At least until you find your mate although I'm selfish enough to wish that you never do and will remain content with me."

The room was silent. I was still in shock at her confession so it was taking a while for my brain to formulate a response.

'... I'll leave…" Hera said with a red face.

'Please wait. I'm sorry, I just didn't expect something like that today…let's sit."

Hera nodded and sat opposite me.

'Are you sure this is what you want? You're not just fascinated by the fact that I'm blessed by the goddess?"

'I'm sure. At first, I thought that was what it was but I came to realize that was not the case after a while."

'Do you love me?"

I adored Hera but I would be lying if I said I loved her.

'No but I want to."

I stared at her. Hera was a strong woman but seeing her blush and unsure was also nice. Her shoulder length black hair looked silky all the time, always tempting me to touch and find out how it felt. Her lips looked sinful and I'd imagined it doing inappropriate things sometimes but, her eyes, a mixture of hazel and gold. They seemed to suck you in once you stared at them.

The villagers weren't wrong in declaring her a priestess. She was captivating and so fucking stunning.

'Yes."

Hera eyes shone with happiness, 'really?"

'I might not know the extent of your feelings for me but i have feelings that I kept suppressed because I thought you were unattainable."

She smiled beautifully, 'I didn't expect you to agree. I hoped so."

'Do you want me to announce it?"

'Let's wait. I want to have this between us for a while. Let me finally enjoy my fantasies."

With that, she got up and dropped her blanket.
