My heart skipped as I continued running, I didn't know exactly where I was running to but I was determined to find her Alpha.

I had to stop a few times to check if I was being chased, noticing that I wasn't, I stopped and started walking trying to catch my breath. 'It would have been better if I had taken Leila with me.' I said to myself remembering how pale her face was and on the verge of dying.


Where was I going to find the Alpha? I was farther away from the castle that held Leila and it looked like I was lost.

Smoke? I saw smoke come out from a chimney, there must be someone inside there. Short of breath but wanting to get there easily, I ran again following the smoke.

It was a cottage, a little small cottage. I walked closer to the door but it opened before I even touched the door knob, jolting me out of myself.


She was a young petite woman and she smiled at me, 'Who are you, dear? And who did you come here to find?"

I shook my head, 'It's nobody ma'am, I'm just looking for shelter. I've been running for a while now and I'm exhausted, please ma can you take me in just for the night?"


Her face looked displeased like she couldn't trust me, the smiling face disappearing almost immediately. 'Ma'am please, only for the night. I'll leave tomorrow morning."

'No dear, it's not as though I can't take you in or anything. I'll be more than glad to do so, but there's a man whose identity cannot be revealed and must remain hidden. That's why I can't take you in, but I can direct you someplace else."

I couldn't go anywhere else, there was no strength. No strength to walk or even do any other thing, I just really wanted to sit down one place and rest. Looking at the woman, 'Ma'am please it won't be for long, I promise. Even if it's in the storage I end up sleeping in, I don't mind at all."

She looked at me, the door opened again. 'Mother, who is he? He's handsome!"

She came out of the cottage and walked towards me, 'Did you come to get married to me I'll go with you, if that's the case."

I smiled weakly, 'No, I'm here for shelter. Your mother says she can't help."

'Mother, let's help him. He's different from the other man we took in, he exudes a lot of power and authority."

I raised my head up, 'A man that exudes power and authority? Does he have a mark on his arm?"

The woman looked at me suspiciously, 'How do you know that? Did you poison him, why are you looking for him."

'No ma'am, I'm a member of his pack. His Luna was kidnapped and she asked me to find her mate first before I rescue her."

'What's the proof that you're a member of his pack? Do you have a mark or something that can be used to identify you?"

I shook my head, her daughter spoke up this time. 'Mother, he's weak! Why don't we just get him inside and ask him questions later when he's all rested. Look at him, mother."

She huffed and sighed, 'My daughter wants you in, I have no other choice than to let you in. I'll have the bath running, she'll assist you inside. You'll eat before you shower, that's the most important thing. You smell like dried seaweed and fish."

'I'm sorry ma'am, I'll get the smell erased soon enough."

I stood up with her daughter holding onto my back, she helped me get inside the house. We walked till we reached the dinning table, settling me down in the chair. She smiled and looked at me, 'Your food will be here soon, please wait for a while. Mother didn't expect any visitors, so please be understanding regarding her."

'It's alright, I understand how she must feel. But do tell me, the Alpha is in your house? How come?"

'I can't disclose much due to our pledge to stay discreet regarding him, but he came to us injured and mother took him in when she saw the mark on his arm." She said, 'I'll be back soon with your meal."

I watched her leave to the kitchen, so that's where he has been since? But why didn't he try to leave, was he held captive by them so they could get a reward after handing him to Antonio?

I stood up and sauntered around the room weakly, they didn't look like they were hiding anything but I couldn't just bring myself to trust anyone.

'Mr! Why are you peeping round my house, you're being very suspicious!" The woman appeared startling me with her shouts.

I turned around quickly, 'I'm sorry ma'am, you've a wonderful house. I was just admiring it, that's all."

'Your bath is ready, I think you should take your bath first since your meal isn't ready yet."

I nodded my head, she was wary of me and I knew why. She was in possession of the Alpha and she must think that I'm a spy who wanted to report her or something.

'Yes ma'am, I'll get going."

I started walking towards the bathroom, I noticed a door tightly shut. Other doors were slightly opened except that one, I moved nearer to it. Opening it I walked in someone layed on the bed, I moved nearer to the bed. Raising the blanket, my eye widened. It was him!

'Alpha! Xander!" I felt him to know if he was still breathing well, he was! But what was he doing here?

I couldn't believe my eyes, I turned to walk out of the door. Only to see the lady of the house, stare at me.

'Why are you here? This isn't the bathroom, why did you open the blanket?"

'Ma, he's the Alpha. He's the one I've been searching for, how is he here?"
