**XANDER**
They exchanged knowing looks and I glanced at each of them quietly, waiting for them to unravel their minds.
"Who's your dad? And can I meet him?" An Alpha wasn't supposed to beg for anything but I knew that it was cordial manners for me to ask nicely. I knew somewhere deep inside of me that I would get to meet with their father either ways but like I said, it is good manners to ask.
"Of course, you'll get to meet him. There was an impromptu pack meeting that sent him off before we met you but from our discernment, he should be back home any minute now." Almost immediately, there was a knock on the door and I knew just by instincts that whoever it is that was at their door was either their father or someone they thought to be their father with the way their eyes lit.
The door creaked open and yeah, it was a gray haired man and with the way the old lady went to welcome him with open arms, it had to be their father.
Watching them hug and get all lovey dovey suddenly reminded me of the list of things that I hadn't tried with Leila yet. Growing old with her was at the top of my list.
"Well, well, well. Who do we have here?" The old man asked as he set his eyes on me and I could feel the spark of realization after few seconds of staring at me.
"I'm—"
"Alpha Xander of the Black Pool pack." He stated and I nodded in confirmation.
"To what do I owe this visit?" He questioned as he grabbed a chair and sat on staring at me like he knew the exact thing that was about to proceed out of my mouth.
"We found him in the woods, injured and shot by a weapon that was besmerched in Blue Green Algae and wolfsbane. His wolf was unable to heal and the wound is getting deeper and rottening by the seconds." The old lady explained and the old man nodded like he already knew what she had said.
"I already know that and I'm glad that you helped him out. His father and my father go a long way back and on my way to get one of the council, I saw y'all bringing him into the house. That made me proceed into digging out more things about the people that attacked you." That peaked my interest and I immediately sat upright to let him know that I was quite much interested in what he had to say.
"The man that attacked you goes by the name, Antonio Wild-Fangs. I think that the attack was on the sole purpose of revenge for the dreaded past." My eyes widened and I leaned in closer to him.
"Do explain in details." I couldn't believe that was proceeding out of my mouth—No, I could actually believe it but I couldn't believe that at any point in life would I be seeking help here, good thing my father created a good label for me to tread on so I didn't have to do much.
"His father was supposed to be Alpha before your father but was dethroned, he was referred to as the Mad ruler because he ruled with an iron fist and killed people for fun."
"The main aim for his dethronement was because the people were fed up with him and the moon goddess herself was angered because of the many blood shed so she visited his pack with plagues and mysterious death and the elders had to look for a way to appease her aggrieved soul." That was a big one, almost too big if you consider the situation but still, I couldn't see how any of this was my fault. Or maybe I do? Because his father was dethroned, he lost his chance to ever be Alpha even though he was from an Alpha's lineage. That should surely hurt anyone.
"All the council's joined hands together and they were able to dethrone Alpha Anslem, Antonio's father and that was one of the reasons why he tried to avenge his father's death by killing you but that wasn't the only thing." Of course that wouldn't be the only thing, I would have been very disappointed if it was actually the only thing that warranted all that hatred that he poured on you and your fated mate. Hold on— my fated mate. I don't see where she fits into this picture, maybe she was held as bait and liability to me. Maybe they knew that touching her was the only way they could get my attention but how did they know?
I hadn't done anything to arouse suspicions that we were mated so how in the heavens would they know? Well, like I said...they were formidable opponents and that made it more easy to digest.
This is getting interesting, almost too interesting. If anyone told me that I had a sworn enemy from the time that I hadn't been conceived possibly, I would find it really hard to believe.
So Antonio was a shadow from my past and he only wanted to avenge his father,s? that surely sounded like a shit head villain. The wronged villain or the wrong villain? Technically, he was the wrong villain because it was nobody's fault that his father decided to be an ass and did so much atrocities that made the moon goddess visit them with plagues.
That only happened on rare occasions and if the gravity of his offence would be able to warrant that, then it was surely one hell of a problem.
Lots of kudos to be given to the councils back then for trying their best to stand together, else they might have all been dead before now.
The moon goddess wasn't merciful until she was appeased and if she wasn't appeased, I was so sure that she would have wiped out the entire pack without batting an eyelid.
"Your wife, Leila has something he wants." She isn't my wife yet but that isn't a problem.
