**Leila**

As he muttered the words ‘mate' I felt a foreign feeling flutter right in my heart but though my wolf didn't act up, I knew that he was right. I was his mate. A few minutes later and all the tingly sensations had headed out the window and I just stared at him like a total stranger that he was crossing out the part of him being my mate.


I didn't know if that was how the mate bond was supposed to work but I suddenly didn't feel comfortable with him staring at me like he was trying to discern what I would look like if I was naked right in front of him.

'Hey Leila, don't act so cold. He's your mate after all." Antonio urged on, his face beaming with smiles and the guy just chuckled. The guy who had introduced himself as Lucian.

'I know it's strange and it feels weird but you'll get used to it, you're my destiny." He uttered and flashed me a bright smile as he took my hand in his and everyone at the table ‘awwned' which was totally weird.


Suddenly, as his hands were still on mine, I broke out in a heavy sweat that I wasn't sure any of them were aware of. My whole body was heating up yet it felt like I was immersed in cold ice at the same time.

Why could none of them sense my discomfort even the so-called person that is to be my mate? His hands were on mine yet he didn't bat an eyelid to at least portrait the fact that I was literally burning up and jittering under his touch.


Until Antonio suddenly noticed that I was feeling weird because I bent, withdrawing my hand from Lucian; I banged my head on the table.

The worst part of it all is that even as hard as I had hit my head on the table, I didn't feel any impact of pain inflicted on my body and it freaked me out knowing I'm a very clumsy person.

'Oh my goodness, Leila, why would you do that?" Antonio questioned rushing over to my side to check my head and the instant he placed his hand on me, he retrieved it immediately as he winced.

Blowing air from his mouth to the finger that had grazed my skin, I realized that it had the black like an actual fire burn.

It burned him but all I could feel was been hot, very hot but not to the extent of been burnt.

'You're burning up." He commented and gave me a knowing look that I couldn't quite fathom or rather I didn't want to decipher it.

'I'm fine, I just need a drink of water." I tried to cover up as I grabbed the plastic bottle of water that was made available on the table and poured its content into a glass cup.

As I touched the cup to bring it to my lips, it shattered into pieces and I blinked twice as glass particles flew everywhere. My eyes widened as I stared at the glass particles fly everywhere like they were some pieces of diamonds.

'Oh my goodness." Amelia explained as she glared at me with a scrutinizing gaze and Antonio immediately flashed a bright smile to Lucian and his family.

'It was a good meeting y'all but we have to leave now." He beckoned and motioned for me to stand up which I happily obliged to immediately.

At this point, I didn't need any soothsayer to tell me that it was my powers but why would they begin to show up in front of people and make me feel like the odd one out or maybe I was really the odd one out.

Though I felt dizzy and my visions blurred, I think Antonio thought it best that I walked on my own without any form of assistance. I had just shattered a glass cup with a touch, what would happen if anybody grazed my skin? It was quite obvious from what had just happened to Antonio, they would burn up and there's might be a whole lot worse than that of Antonio.

I was able to walk out of the hall by myself but the instant I was outside, I couldn't take a hold on my mental stability so I slumped.

'Leila." Antonio called but as I tried to open my mouth, no words proceeded out of my mouth though I could see Amelia roll her eyes in disgust.

'What's the matter with her?" She asked unconcernedly like my show was so boring to watch.

'Her powers. They're unveiling." Antonio simply said and I could swear that I saw a slight grin etch on his face and not the good type of grin but the bad kind though I couldn't think much on it at that moment.

'Interesting." Amelia simply said and flashed a weird smile as she sipped on the glass of wine that I didn't know she had come along with.

'We have to find a way to take her back home but we can't touch her no matter what." Antonio explained and Amelia threw the cup away before scrouching down to peer at my face that should probably look pale by Noe.

'Then how about we leave her here till she's able to walk home because what other options do we have left?" Amelia said and stood up when we heard some footsteps walking down the stairs towards us and Antonio tried to stand between us so people wouldn't realize what's going on.

'Oh Antonio, I thought you left already." Lucian's father said and as Lucian spotted me on the floor he rushed over and before anyone could warn him, he placed his hands on my neck.

'Is she okay—" He was asking when my eyes turned white and lightning bolts rented the air. I'm very certain that that's on me too.

'What's going on? We have to take her out of here, she's clearly sick and burning up." Lucian said hoisting me into his arms.
