Amelia's POV
"A little more time huh? I should have known that it would take more than a little more time for her to finally realize those powers. Aren't you supposed to push her into realizing her powers quickly?" Amelia asked impatiently as she folded her arms across her chest, staring at me.
"Amelia, you don't get to tell me what would be best!" I warned sternly and she opened her mouth to speak but hesitated and shut it back up.
"I'm sorry father. Either way, it's for the best." Amelia said, grinning from ear to ear as she pushed her hair to the back of her ear shyly.
"Only love could truly make you blush like that." I commented and she chuckled.
"No, dad. It's not even that but most importantly, the thought that I would be a Luna soon. I can't imagine that she almost spoilt that for me." Amelia scoffed and I patted her head softly before leaving her to be on her way while I went back to meet Leila.
I was playing the good uncle that had sort for her for a lifetime now and the closer I got to her, the better it would be for the both of us.
"Dad, where are you going? It hasn't been up to five minutes and you're already on your way?" Amelia asked with a little pout attached to her lips.
"I need to be with Leila." I answered firmly and she rolled her eyes while sitting on the dry log of wood a few inches away from her feet.
"If I hadn't known you too well, I would say that you value and cherish her more than you do to me now. But you would never do that right?" Amelia asked with a hint of insecurity in her voice and I smiled.
"Of course not. I could never place anyone above you but like I said, force was never going to work. So isn't it better that she feels like the cherished niece I've been searching for my whole life while she loosens up?" I queried, not really looking for an opinion or suggestion.
"Whatever! Just don't make her feel too special that she can rear her head against me, she had better know her limits." Amelia scoffed and I just ignored the statement.
"Dad?" She called again with a distant look on her face and I wondered what was going in that little head of hers.
"Yeah?" I answered, staring at her intently as she bit her lower lip.
"Alpha Xander's army might be closing up on us anytime soon. What do we do if Peradventure, he finds her before she makes herself valuable to us?" Amelia asked with a thoughtful look on her face and I had to admit that I hadn't thought of that earlier.
She had quite a good point there though.
It only meant that while I was hastening Leila to unlock her powers, I had to begin to instill hatred in her heart for Alpha Xander.
"She pretty much trusts me now and I believe that she trusts my judgments too. Instead of taking any chances, I can try to brainwash her into hating Aloha Xander." I suggested placing my legs on the log of wood that Amelia was seating on while I stared intently at her face.
Something was wrong and she wasn't telling me about it.
She had more to say but she was doing her best to hide it from me.
It was too bad that I knew her every feature and knew when she was trying to hide something to herself.
Something that might be valuable.
"That's the worst idea you've brought up in a while." Amelia suddenly said, breaking out in an uncontrollable laughter.
"What do you mean by that?" I queried as I finally sat with her.
"Brainwashing Leila into unlocking her powers is one thing but setting her against Alpha Xander is impossible. You might not know but she revers him more than her life." Amelia explained and I was taken aback.
I never thought Leila's loyalty to Xander would be that strong and to be very truthful, it literally pissed me off.
"Everybody's heart can be changed at some point." I was stressed and she looked at me like I was probably out of my mind.
"Not Leila's heart towards Xander. Trust me dad, that's a dead end." Amelia stated and suddenly, her eyes held that distant look again, like her mind was somewhere else.
"Is there anything else you'd like to tell me?" I probed further trying to get the words out of her mouth.
"What?"She asked, seeming a little bit too surprised by the question, "Of course not, I have nothing else to say." She stated after trying her best to put in a normal composure again.
"Okay, I hope so. If there's anything, don't hesitate to tell me. It's for your good too, you'd get to be Luna." I said, serving him a warm reminder as I walked back into the house.
As I got into the house, I saw Leila with two seraph blades practicing her fighting stance and my lips curved up in a smile.
"Antonio." She called and stopped prancing about, sitting on a chair as she grabbed a bottle of water to cool off.
"Were you practicing all the while I was with Amelia?" I asked and I saw her mood deepen at the sound of Amelia's name.
"Yes, I was." She answered straightforwardly and I realized that her eyes had darkened in anger.
"You're doing well and I'm proud of you." I commented, ignoring her as well as pretending I didn't see the switch in her emotions.
"Leila." I called out and she raised her eyes to stare at me and I shot her a reassuring smile.
"What's your thought on Alpha Xander of your former pack? If by any chance you see him now, would you want to leave this pack with him if he requests it?" I asked.
I really wanted to know how deep her loyalty was for him.
"It's quite hard because I promised to stay here but if it's Alpha Xander asking, then I'm going with him. There's no doubt about that." She answered and my brows furrowed in anger.
"To me, Alpha Xander's words are law and a law shouldn't be broken." She stated and a distant smile crept into her lips like she remembered something really distant.
"It's weird, but I miss him. I miss Xander." Leila said in low tones and I lost my cool.
