Antonio's POV
I felt a wave of comfort and a hint of fear when Leila announced that she was going to stay back and find out more about her Past life. Her existence in this pack of rogues presented both a possible benefit and a real risk if she didn't learn how to harness her powers before her pack found her. I had to trade cautiously, making sure she believed me well enough until she realized her actual potential.
"Welcome, Leila, to the Silver Quin pack," And motioned for her to sit down as I took a seat close by. "Let me first enlighten you about the history of our kind, you see, your mother and I aren't much different. We all possess certain special abilities. When our late parents gave birth to your mother, and I followed next, The priestess discovered your mother possessed a special ability to resurrect and bring back to life, the dead, this was a special ability in our lineage." My eyes darted to the contour of her face.
She was blank as a slate and at this point, I knew she would easily believe every word I was going to tell her from here on end. Leila listened with keen interest and concern. I described How a group of rogue wolves attacked our pack in the quest to get the powers for themselves, killing our parents in the fierce battle.
'The powers you carry are unique to our species and denote a lineage endowed with ancient powers. No wolf possesses this special ability Leila" I said in a soft voice, my gaze locked on her, I tried to read her mind.
"Now, as for why this is all happening, it's because the forces that want to take advantage of your late mother's powers have detected its awakening in you. They somehow know that you possess the same special ability as your mother." I added. 'And they'll do anything to get their hands on it."
Leila gave a sad nod, her expression reflecting her growing worry about this newfound truth. "But what about my wolf?" she asked, her voice beginning to sound urgent. "Why does it seem to be howling in defiance?"
I furrowed my brow and thought about her question for a moment before it finally hit me. "Your wolf senses the impending danger, Leila," I said, sounding concerned "It's warning you of the threats that lurk in the shadows, waiting to exploit your power for their gain."
Leila's eyes grew wide, as she nodded in comprehension and I could see the resolution flickering in her eyes. She was determined to take on whatever obstacles that came her way, to accept her fate, and to defend not just our pack but also herself.
With a determined tone, she said, "I won't let them harm anyone." "I'll unlock my powers and use them to defend those I care about.". Impressed by her resilience, I gave her a nod of appreciation. I got up from my seat and said, "Leila, let's start your training then."
"Together, we will unlock the full extent of your potential and ensure that you are prepared for whatever trials may come your way."
Days stretched into weeks as Leila continued her training, improving under my tutelage. She scaled through all the tasks I had set for her with amazing prowess and unshakable tenacity. She embraced the lessons of our pack's old traditions.
However a surprise attack threatened to destroy our newly acquired sense of bonding. A gang of eerie rogues arrived on our tuff one night with menacing and evil intentions while the moon hung high in the sky.
When they got closer, I could smell their evil energy in the atmosphere. Knowing that our survival hinged on our strength, I growled and gave the signal for our pack to get ready for combat.
As the rogues drew closer, Leila stood by my side, her eyes blazing with rage. "We can't let them win," she bellowed, despite the threat that lingered in the air.
Together, we faced the looming threat head-on, our pack rallying behind us as we clashed with our adversaries in a fierce and brutal battle. The sounds of snarls and cries echoed through the night as blood was spilled.
But in spite of all the odds against us, we prevailed, driving our adversaries away with our unyielding will and determination. I turned to Leila with a growing sense of pride as the dust settled and the moon illuminated the battlefield softly.
I placed my hands over her shoulder and murmured, "You fought well." "You have proven yourself to be a true member of our pack, worthy of the power you possess."
Leila grinned, appreciation gleaming in her eyes as she replied, "Thank you, Antonio," with sincerity in her voice. "I couldn't have done it without you." I smile tugged at the corner of my lips. Finally, she was slowly buying into the false reality I had painted. ‘She doesn't suspect a thing' my wolf howled within me.
'We have to celebrate this feast of victory, Leila. We were able to defeat those rogues, primarily because of your support" I said to her. I made careful not to reveal any of the complexity that connects Leila and I together in this web of lies as my eyes met hers. As we walked back to the pack. A Delta called my attention. 'Alpha, your daughter wishes to speak with you." I nodded and excused myself.
'Father, this wasn't our initial arrangement." Amelia deadpanned, as she paced back and forth. I smirked at her before replying. 'Remember that I am the master planner. If I were to use force on her, I doubt it we would have gained her trust up to this extent." I replied.
'Okay father, we need to hurry up. Alpha Xander has prepared his warriors and they would soon close in on us in a couple of days. Has she told you about her powers yet?"
'Nothing yet child, let's give her a little more time" I replied, cupping her cheeks into my hands.
