Jane's POV

The next morning, I woke up early.

I didn't know why, but I felt nervous and I didn't sleep well last night. I keep thinking about the kiss, about Hades. I wonder if he will still come today.

I waited and I pretended to be busy, but my ears kept listening.

Then I heard the small sound, the soft knock at the door.

I rushed to the window, but I didn't open it. I just peeped through the curtains.

Yes. It was him.

He was standing there quietly and his shirt was white, his hair was a bit messy from the wind. He looked handsome, but different today, calm and serious. He bent down and dropped something on the step.

Fruits, flowers and the usual card he always dropped.

But this time, he didn't wait and he didn't even knock again. He didn't look up. He just turned and walked away slowly.

I waited until he was gone and then opened the door gently.

I picked up the basket of fruits and there were apples, oranges, and strawberries, my favorite.

I opened the note and read:

'Good morning, Jane.

I'm sorry for last night. It wasn't my plan.

I respect you. I respect your space.

I won't cross the line again.

I will always care for you from any distance you choose.

Hades"

My fingers trembled slightly as I folded the note and my heart felt tight, but warm.

He didn't get angry and he didn't push. He just respected me.

That evening, he came again, but now, everything felt easy and soft.

We ate together like usual and the food was delicious. The table was set perfectly and the lights were warm. We talked and laughed about little things and there was no pressure and no tension, it was just peace.

But just when I thought the evening was perfect, my phone rang.

It was Rita, my assistant.

I picked it up. "Hello?"

"Jane!" she sounded worried. "Some of our goods are missing."

My heart jumped. "What do you mean missing?"

"They disappeared from the warehouse. No signs, no delivery records. It was like they vanished into the air."

I stood up. My whole body turned cold. "How many goods?"

"Almost twenty containers. Gone."

I didn't speak. I couldn't. I just feltl like I couldn't breathe.

I hung up slowly and stared at the wall.

Hades watched me quietly and he stood up and walked to me.

"What happened?" he asked gentlemen and then I told him everything.

He puts his hand gently on my shoulder. "Calm down. It will be okay."

"But it is twenty containers, Hades!" I shouted, my voice shaking. "That is billions of money gone. Just gone!"

"We will find them," he said, he was steady and calm. "I will help you."

I looked at him. He looked serious and meant it.

He didn't try to blame me and didn't panic. He just stood strong. Like a kind of man I have ever wanted, like a protector and a savior.

And somehow, I felt safe.

The next morning, I went to work early.

I didn't expect anything, but by 9:00 a.m., Hades walked into my office. He was wearing a dark suit and his face was sharp and ready for business.

"I made a few calls," he said. "I talked to the port, I tracked some of the shipment routes and I think I know where the goods were last seen."

I blinked. "You did all that this morning?"

He nodded, "Let's go fix this."

I grabbed my bag.

And together, we walked out.

For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel alone.

Hades' POV

The most beautiful feeling I had was knowing that Jane allowed me to help her. For years, I chased money, power, and control, however now, just being useful to her made me feel like a king. She allowed me in and she trusted me to help and that meant everything to me.

I sat in my office and my desk was full of papers, reports and calls to return, but my heart was light. My phone buzzed and I looked down at it. It was a message from Jane.

I froze.

It reads: "I miss you. Come early today."

I blink. I read it again.

Did she really send that?

A smile grows on my face. I couldn't believe it. That she missed me?

Without thinking, I stood up and I grabbed my coat. I told my assistant, "Cancel everything. I have to go, now."

She blinked, "Sir? You have a meeting in 10 minutes."

"Cancel it. Reschedule. I am leaving," I said, already walking out.

My heart beat fast and I drove fast but it was safe. I wanted to see her and I wanted to hold her. I wanted to be close.

When I got to her gate, I didn't wait. I walked straight in and the guards nodded at me, they knew me already, I went there every day.

I knocked on her door and she opened it fast, like she had been waiting too.

"Hey," she said softly.

"Hey," I said back, smiling.

She looked so beautiful and her hair was tied up. She wore a simple dress, but she glowed and I couldn't stop staring.

"I got your message," I said.

She nodded. "I... I just missed you."

My heart melted and I wanted to kiss her. I want to say a hundred things, but I took a deep breath instead.

"Would you like to go out with me for dinner?" I asked gently.

She looked surprised. Her face changed. She looked unsure.

"Out? Like a restaurant?"

"Yes," I say. "Just dinner. Nothing more. Just... I want to spend time with you."

She looked down at the floor. Then she looks back at me.

"I don't know"

"Please," I said, "It doesn't have to mean anything. Just a meal, we will sit and talk and we will eat. It will just be something different from the indoors we are always at. You can come back anytime you want."

She looked at me again, she took a long and deep.

"Let me change," she said quietly.

My heart jumped

"Take your time," I said.

She walked back inside and I stand there, smiling to myself.

She said yes.
