Jane POV
I didn't knock.
I barged straight into my father's private office. The guards outside didn't stop me. They knew better than to stand in my way today.
Grande looked up from his desk. He was calm, too calm and he looked like he had been expecting this.
"Jane," he said and folded his hands slowly. "To what do I owe this dramatic entrance?"
I walked straight to his desk and dropped the file in front of him. It slided across the glass surface and his name was all over it.
"Elfread talked," I said. "He gave everything up, names, accounts. Messages, Including yours."
Grande glanced down at the papers and his face didn't change. There was no fear and there was shame.
"Is that so?"
"You sold me out," I snapped. "You worked with my enemies. You stole from me? I mean you stole from your own daughter?"
He leaned back in his chair, like this was just another business meeting.
"I did what I had to do," he said "Business is war. You either strike first or get swallowed whole."
"You call that an excuse? I trusted you. I built this from nothing, and you tried to take it from me!"
He chuckled, cold and smooth. "And so? I am your father."
I clenched my fists. "That doesn't give you the right to sabotage me."
His voice sharpened. "I gave you a head start in a cruel world. I thought you would be smart enough to understand that surviving means making hard choices."
"Then maybe you didn't know me at all. I will rather lose everything than become someone like you."
He stood up now, his eyes were hard. "You are too emotional, just like your mother and that is why you will never win."
I looked him dead in the eye. "Then watch me lose everything, except my soul."
I turned and walked away.
My phone buzzed as I got to the lobby. I checked the screen. It was a message from Tom.
'LIVE TRANSACTION DETECTED – Sender: GRANDE"
'Recipient: Offshore Account
My heart stopped for a moment.
Why would he be moving money now? The game should be over.
Before I could answer my own question, Rita called.
"Jane," she said, breathless. "The audit team found something. There is another company, small and quiet, but it is him. It is your father. He owns it through a trust."
"Where is it?"
"Registered downtown. But we think it's just a front. The real money's moving somewhere else."
I didn't think so. I turned back. I run.
The guards at the office tried to stop me.
"He left instructions not to disturb him, ma'am."
"Get out of my way."
They hesitated and I pushed past them.
The door swung open. The office was dark and empty.
His desk was clean and the drawers were open. The computer tower was missing and the safe unlocked.
There was only one thing on the desk.
A letter and it was olded. My name was written on it.
I picked it up, my hands shook and I immediately unfolded the paper and read.
"You are smarter than I thought. But not smart enough to stop me. If you want the truth, look where the legacy began."
I read the words twice and then I said them out loud. "Where the legacy began"
My voice broke "You don't mean, the old estate?"
My phone buzzed again with another alert, but I didn't check it because my father just disappeared.
And now I know where he's gone.
I woke up to silence, No more phone calls, no more alarms, no more hackers and no more betrayal for now.
My office was quiet today and the sun shone through the tall windows, lighting the big table where I sat with my legal team and board members.
Everyone was calm but focused. We were about to close one of the biggest chapters in this war.
Elfread Corporation has agreed to pay 600 trillion in damages and Yes. Six hundred trillion.
It still didn't feel real and after weeks of chaos, after being hacked, after chasing moles, after catching thieves, we finally won.
My lawyer, Ava, stood up with a wide smile. 'They signed the agreement this morning," she said. 'Funds have been transferred into the recovery accounts."
A round of applause filled the room and I didn't clap. I just nodded slowly and took a deep breath.
I was still angry and still hurt. But I felt something I haven't felt in a while, I felt peace.
Elfread tried to destroy my company. Tried to ruin my name and worse, they did it by working with someone from my own blood, my father.
But justice always wins, always.
The mole, the one we trusted with our supply chains, has been fired. He was now sitting in a jail cell, far away from luxury and lies. The court sentenced him to 15 years with no bail.
He cried when they put him in handcuffs. 'I didn't mean for it to go this far," he said. But it was too late. He sold us out, took money from Elfread, and smiled in my face every morning. That kind of betrayal could be forgiven.
The news of Elfread's fine spreads fast. The headlines were everywhere:
'Jane Grande Wins Billion-Dollar Cyber War."
'Justice for GrandeTech: Elfread Falls."
'The Queen of Business Fights Back."
My phone didn't stop buzzing and Investors went in again. I smiled, but I didn't forget.
My company slowly became stable again. The missing money has been replaced. New staff were coming in and people I could trust. Tom and Co. upgrades our security even further. This time, no one gets in without me knowing.
Rita walked into my office with a folder. 'We have completed the full audit. No more leaks and more shady deals," she said.
'Good," I whispered. 'We protect this company like it's our home."
She nodded. 'Also, we have received an invitation."
I raised an eyebrow. 'From who?"
She handed me the card. A gold envelope. No name on the front.
I opened it slowly.
'A private conference. For the world's most powerful minds. Location: Geneva. Date: Confidential. Host: Unknown."
Rita frowns. 'You think it's a trap?"
'I don't know," I said, and stared at the letter. 'But it smells like one."
